Filipino food in 🇵🇭 Manila, PH vs Denver, USA-clear winner?
We've been stuck in The States for almost 2 months and eating almost every meal at home. And because food culture is such a big part of our travel adventures, we're all getting a little bit hangry for some of our international favorites. We're not even sure we can make it a couple more weeks until we're back in Southeast Asia, but luckily we just heard about a relatively new filipino restaurant that's just a few minutes' drive from our house. So, of course, we had to come see for ourselves.

ABOUT US
We’re the Lockwoods. And we’re traveling the world to experience-up close and in person-all the natural wonders and distinct cultures that our kids would otherwise be consuming only through textbooks and TV. We think it’s a better way to learn and we’re working hard to fund this little experiment in the hope that our kids will grow up wiser, kinder, and more grateful for the beauty of our diverse planet and its people.

Evangelical churches hold summer camps. Our church held one during Holy Week this year, the first one we held since the beginning of the pandemic. My daughters were campers when they were kids, and started serving as counselors in their teens. My husband and I have served as camp staff since the 90s. It's a great way to build happy memories and to serve God.

The Crispy Pata is very very good, I could hear the crackling of the skin so so GOOD. YUM YUMMY YUMMY You’re so lucky to find that restaurant. Around here in the DC area they usually don’t really cook it the way it should be cooked like in the Philippines. That is a very good Filipino restaurant, lucky you.

Guys, the proper Filipino ways how to execute eatin famous "halo-halo" is; mixed well all the sangkap(for you to find out😊 what "sangkap" mean is) then eat. Do not eat as they served as it is. Just mix,let the ice shave melt a little(not too to much) for you to enjoy and taste all the flavour adopted in the ice juiced. Basically, mix flavour was made of seasonal fruits, its vary in what season we have that moment. Mix means Halo(tagalog), mix-mix = halo-halo. So do not eat without mixing😊😊 Thanks for sharing your travel vlog. More to come.cheers!

So Lu-m-pee-ya. Calamansi (Ca-La-ma-an-si). Bangus (b-ang-oos) . I don’t know if I shared that right but I tried 😄 Keep it up!! Love how adventurous you all are! YOLO!

What a coincidence. I commented before about basing yourselves in Asia. And you're actually doing it. Oh btw, watch out for seat sales from local airlines like AirAsia and Cebu Pacific. It's around this time that they offer cheap flights. You can get flights to Hongkong for about $50-60 per person one way. Their domestic flights are also cheaper especially if you don't have checked luggage.

Bangus is the boniest of all fish we eat in the Philippines. Some people won't eat it because of the bones. Having a bone stuck in your throat can be an unforgettable painful experience. But bangus is also a favorite of many because of its flavourful belly. Bangus de-boning is a skill many people in the bangus industry have mastered and they can de-bone a big bangus using tweezers in a few minutes. Sinigang, relleno, paksiw, daing are other family favorite bangus recipes.
