Filefish & Triggerfishes - Reef Life of the Andaman - Part 12

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Filefish (leatherjackets) and triggerfishes. Part 12 of my DVD, "Reef Life of the Andaman", available at www.bubblevision.com/marine-li... or view the whole 2-hour video at • Reef Life of the Andam...
First we look at the scrawled filefish, Aluterus scriptus, sometimes known as a "scribbled filefish" or "scribbled leatherjacket", a common sight at many dive sites in Thailand.
Then we encounter various members of the triggerfish family (Balistidae). The orange-lined triggerfish feeding on a sea urchin at Staghorn Reef on Racha Yai Island. Then the amazing patterns of the clown triggerfish, Balistoides conspicillum, at various sites in Thailand's Similan Islands. Schools of redtooth triggerfish, Odonus niger, adorn the reefs at the Burma Banks. We find the larger yellowmargin triggerfish, Pseudobalistes flavimarginatus, at Hin Muang. And finally we encounter the often-aggressive titan triggerfish, Balistoides viridescens, attacking my fins at Koh Bon in defence of it's nest.

Did you have the part where they have The Picasso Triggerfish? It is a different type of triggerfish, it is similar to a Titan Triggerfish, but it is very aggressive.

What is amazing about these exotic fish is that often their color scheme combinations would be blatant in any other enviornment but here, they are magnificent. Jack A

well where people keep triggerfish, the clown triggerfish are very high in price to buy, £400 but in usa money $800. but are very tough to keep, and aggressive with new comers to tank some times. still fab video of the clown triggerfish best capture of it

Clown triggers aren't near that price now, and weren't then for us in the USA. They're also not difficult at all. The only thing that stops any responsible person from owning them is the fact that they need such a massive tank.

EKailene Sorry, I've never taken any video of one. I've only seen them from the beach of boats when I didn't have a camera. You're right, a Portuguese man o' war is a siphonophore, which is different from a jellyfish.

'red tooth'triggers are absolutely excellent pets. They swim like no other fish. Even so, I would never set up a salt water tank again. You take too much of the fish's life quality when you mke it live in a fish tank.
