    Another advantage of these type of Bluetooth receivers (vs a small DAP) is I can just use velcro (like 3m dual lock) to strap to any headphone and make it Bluetooth, the M0 and M6 will be bit too heavy for that use case.

    You might want to look for something more powerful than the BTR3. On some tracks I can max out the volume on the M6 whilst using the 58X, and the M6 has nearly 3 times the amount of power that the BTR3 has

    Well the presence of mic and so ability to be used as headset makes the purchase so much sensible. I have Sony's SBH24 and SBH52 and if not for its' little over passable sound quality, I would've sticked to them.

    Dose this device develope the sound quality better than my phone? Can i use this as a wired dac with my smart phone?

    Lovely review, i have a query which most forums can't grasp, i am hoping you might be able to understand. If so, I'd be obliged if you reply. Wired earphones rely on the DAC of the source player. If the phone's DAC is crap, then music listening is joyless. What about BTR3? Since this has its own DAC, will it override the phone's DAC? My phone has a very basic DAC, which has a clean output, but very low volume levels. Will the BTR3 amplify the sound and/or make it better, given its own DAC? Or am i fundamentally misunderstanding Bluetooth technology. I have a basic Logitech Bluetooth reciever, connected to my computer speakers, and when i pair my computer, i get a decent meaty sounding audio. When i connect my phone, the volume is unacceptably low. Could you help me understand the utility of the BTR3, in this regard? I'd love to get it if it is useful, can't tell you how bummed i get with my phone's audio...

    Hey there Lenny. Yup, for the most part you're understanding things correctly. When using a device like the BTR3, then the DAC in your source device should not be a factor (in theory anyways). Phones tend to provide very little driving power, so you may very well (almost certainly) see an improvement by using something like the BTR3. You might also want to check out iFi's Nano iOne, although that does not support the LDAC format.

    I bought one. Pretty nice device for gym use but it sounds quite a bit compressed - actually feels louder due to the compression. Better than any phone though.(except the v30). It's compression sounded similar to the iphone 4s I used to have.

    I didn't notice any significant sound difference when playing my Spotify music over iPhone 6s + BTR3 (through Bluetooth) and iPhone 6s alone.. Does this fiio BTR3 have to be connected to iPhone through USB type C port rather than through Bluetooth to bring out its DAC Amp potential?

  • @theosamma3a60

    @theosamma3a60

    5 жыл бұрын

    Well, the fact that you couldn't notice any sound degradation is a great thing. But, if you really want to get the most out of the BTR3, then you shouldn't be using an iOS device with it. Because of how locked-down Apple's devices are, the best Bluetooth format available to you is AAC. If you were to use the BTR3 with an Android device supporting the LDAC format, then that would be making better use of the BTR3's DAC

  • @diamondhellspawnscorpion

    Theo Samma3a well I think it's the aac codec then.. Does connecting the btr3 to my iphone using USB type C port given on the btr3 rather than through Bluetooth help in improving the sound quality?

  • @theosamma3a60

    @theosamma3a60

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@diamondhellspawnscorpion it should, but it's also important to remember that the final link in the chain is whatever headphone/IEM you're using, and so the fact that the BTR3 can't supply a lot of power either may be another limiting factor.

  • @MaNameizJeff

    @MaNameizJeff

    The receiver should be using atleast the AAC connection for your iphone which for apple, is as good as you can get. However I think spotify is mp3 compressed audio ~128kbits so not only is it low quality to begin with but it is getting recompressed into AAC. Try audio sources that are already in AAC format. Do note that apple devices do not support the aptX HD or ldac features, and never will.

  • @diamondhellspawnscorpion

    Jeff D thank you but I'm using Spotify premium which streams 300kbps though lossy and Apple music which already streams m4a format 256kbps I believe and I couldn't notice any major sound improvement through either of them.. I feel cheated as I could hv bought a tube amp like Little bear b4 which has a similar price though it's not wireless and still can amplify the sound much more than these BTR3's.. I figured out that what we are paying for is for the wireless connectivity of the BTR3 rather than for its amp potential..

    Actually LDAC at 320 kbos would be noisier and not as clean as AptX or even SBC. LDAC is great at 660 or 990 kbps though for CD quality /Hi-Res files.

  • @d0nj03

    @d0nj03

    3 жыл бұрын

    LDAC is useful for all audio you listen to. It doesn't matter what bitrate the music file has, it will be decoded from MP3 to PCM and then re-encoded from PCM to LDAC for transmission anyway, so it doesn't matter. Just make sure LDAC is running at 606 or more kbps (preferably 16-bit, 44.1 kHz mode) or you might get lower quality than even the standard SBC codec is capable of.

    ohhh K.. looks like I get on a new video to boot. I liked the production of your review but you made two major mistakes which kind of make the entire review pointless. #1 No sound quality opinions, no testing. All the features in the world don't mean anything if it didnt sound good, we want this device to replace a wired connection and need to know if it does this. #2 comparing this with the Shanling M0. The Shanling M0 has absolutely no place in this review and it is in no way even remotely relatable! One is an mp3 player and the other is a bluetooth receiver. The reasons I want a Bluetooth receiver (to connect a headphone or speaker to a phone) cannot be replaced by trying to move the music from the phone to the headphones. That is not how this works.
