Very well done review. From a Jeep owner looking to upgrade from a TJ for more room this review gave me the information I needed to know but also would give the potential Jeep owner the education they need. Thanks.

it sorta does, it uses the brake (automatically) on the spinning wheel so that the other wheel will grab. the locking differential will just lock both wheels for better traction. Thats how I understand it to work anyway...

i think he's talking about the jeep wrangler lineup as a whole. rubicons get lockers, sahara/sport with 3.73's get LSD and all have ABS, Traction control and anti roll migation ( applying brakes to certain wheels in a high speed maneuver. someone can correct me if I'm wrong

As much as I like the Wrangler, I might have to side with the Patriot, because of the mpg. If it were vise versa, than obviously I'd go with the Wrangler.

Very ncie review - but why on dry terrain? Mud, please! Nice vehicle.....very good for someone who doens't have the time to modify but wants to enjoy the off road. One question though.....will Jeep every abandon the chain-drive rock trak-t-case in these Rubicons for a true, all-gear driven unit? Now that would be truly hardcore.....

It sounds like the Unlimited would be a waste of money for you, but for me, it's the only alternative. My '09 Rubicon Unlimited has tackled some of the most technical trails in Arizona, Colorado and Northern Cal, all while carrying 4 adults and camping gear. As far as visibility, um, it's a Jeep. We drop the top. It doesn't get better than that!

More body roll due to smaller sway bars in the back? Errr... The sways have always been a hell of a lot smaller in the back on wranglers... You want to talk about body roll, take the fronts off (hit a button on the JK's) and do a quick maneuver doing 40...

A wrangler JK are all the wranglers that have been made since 2007..The jeep "YJ" was made from 1987-1995 The "TJ" from 1997-2006 and the "JK" from 2007 - current...The YJ, TJ and JK are used by jeepers for simpleness.. IE. Talking to someone and they say they own a wrangler.. You ask what kind? They say TJ.. So you know it was made from 1997-2006 and has round headlights

The LJ (or unlimited) might be 'waste of money" now days... Just wait 30 years down the line.. They will be worth alot more because they're more 'rare' then the rest of the wrangler lineup... the LJ's were only produced for 3 years.. and only 2 years in manual
