"It does not have a back up camera." Does turning your head or looking into the rear view mirror that hard?

Back up cameras are gold when you're backing up to a heavy trailer and by yourself.

If I won the lottery, I would get an old Wrangler, fix it up and make it look like one of those Jurassic Park Jeeps....that would float my boat.

To all the people saying the Wrangler shouldn't come with back-up camera's; I love the wrangler, always have and always will. It's an icon and installation of a back-up camera won't take anything away from it. In this day and age, when a small camera can be placed next to (or on top of) the rear central tail light, it simply adds to safety and convenience. It is difficult to see exactly what's behind you sometimes due to the spare wheel. A small child or an animal, other objects could be there.

Power outlet in the back is used for parents with kids that play soccer, go camping, etc. Lot easier lining kids up at the gate, or inflating that kids bed or lake float from the REAR of the vehicle. That is why almost all SUVs and Mini-Vans have an outlet in the front AND rear of the vehicle.

Now in 2018 all wranglers come standard with a backup camera also theres an option of power top lol wow I love my 2018 jeep jl wrangler But mine doesn’t have the power too cuz it wasn’t available yet in the first patch of the 2018 I got mine pretty early in the first week of release and been loving it so far since January of 2018 and now were almost in September 2018 Been throw snow rain and shine

You can add a back-up camera to the Nav units (430/730) you just need to after market the camera and then get them to add the Jeep Commander code to the head unit to enable the camera support. As for the power top, that would require alot of additional mechanicals that really don't have a place to be/hide inside, so for the rare time you have to rush to switch while in a suit for work, then I suggest a quick Bikini top roof or something similar for that 5min inconvenience for the 5 times you don't get the forecast correct in the lifetime of the vehicle.

I am a range rover guy but these wranglers kinda making me want to test drive one at the dealer. but this air suspension on the rover has saved me a few times when i needed to pull through 4 feet of snow too. and im sure the rover rides softer than this jeep, but the jeep is certainly more rugged looking in a good way.

Great vehicle to own, even better now that it has the new engine/trans. My only complaints about my 2008 is the interior fit/finish, which they changed in 2011, and the powertrain which they changed for 2012....Can't wait to trade mine in on a new one.

@SuperJeepz wheels and tires, aerodynamics, and the pentastar makes 20 more horsepower in the challenger. Motortrend ran 6.7 in a sport manual which should be the fastest configuration. I believe the 8.4 is for the unlimited sahara automatic.

@old12school3 Hi I think diesel is available only in EU market. 2.7 CRD made by VM Motori. But I do not know whether they are planning same engine for NA market.

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is also made in Egypt and it is a sort of a special edition

According to the owner's manual, which includes a DVD on how to raise and lower the top, it shouldn't be done by one person. That said, check out my earlier review of the Rubicon Unlimited and you'll see part of the instructional video.

@crashaddict71 I also had an 07 that I bought new. It was fully modified and it broke quite a few things. The worst part was the old 3.8 liter engine. The new engine was a much needed upgrade. My 2 door with 4.10 gears and 35 inch tires was a complete dog and got awful gas mileage. The fact it had a few hundred extra pounds from armor and recovery gear didn't help matters. If someone were to do the same things to the new Jeep I think it would be much easier to live with on a daily basis.

@old12school3 In Germany you can get it with a diesel since 2 years. :-)

An articulation camera might be cool, but one near the rear axle and face it towards the front to see the axle flex and how you are on the rocks. If you want options to add on it, they should use technology related what they Jeep is, not car stuff.

I second this, owners of jeeps are expected to know how to drive. but a brand new stock jeep just isn't the same as an old lifted cj7!!!

I would break a power top. I would also break a backup camera.

:26 the jeep for best off road I would think would be automatic. At :49 a conversation of danger 4x4ing took place. There seem to be no danger in the track they were on. This would be bad for sales. 3:09 he states no one goes on a tail gate party with a Jeep in a tonality that was foolish (Bad for sales). That is why he has a neck breaker seat. 4:12 he states his Jeep does not have a back up camera.

Give us the diesel version, and maybe an 8 speed or 9 speed automatic.......then I would be really happy, freaking gas here is almost $4.25 a gallon, and diesel is only $3.99.

The jeep wrangler has American teenage luxury. Driving to the beach with your buddies, hot girls in bikinies, ice cold beer in the cooler and all the time in the world. Withe the radio up and the top down. That's the best kind of luxury

They could but they'd have to change the look to get the aero dynamics and change the gearing that cars have but then it would suck for off-road. It wouldn't be a Jeep any more.

You dont need GPS If you want a gps gat a garmin, you dont need a back up camera if you need one you shouldnt be driving and the TJ can start on a hill with the clutch not being pushed in... The TJ have a factory over ride behind the glove box. The TJ was the last REAL jeep. And yes i own a TJ

Wait - stop everything! It DOESN'T have a power top or a backup camera?!?!?! Someting tells me that this guy is well outside to core demographic. I have a Jeep - it takes 2 minutes to put the top up and that includes zipping in the widnows. As for a backup camera... well last time I checked, I had this thing called a neck that allowed me to turn my head and look behing me.

Your Real World comes with PR persons! Wow... and a pain in her butt? In crawling situations the passenger usually gets out to perform spotting duties. Dumbest jab at smarter persons, a 12V cooler gets plugged all the time in the cargo area. Close your mouth and just smile:) Many vehicles in the USA have two 12v outlets in front.

Want to put up the top quickly? Buy a convertible. Want to have a back up camera? Buy a Grand Cherokee. Jeep should not compromise what it is to appeal to everyone. If you aren't a Jeep person you just won't get it and likely never will. I personally don't mind taking time to put the top back on, deal with the mediocre (compared to my BMW) handling and brakes, knowing it will go through/over anything in front of it. I love it for what it is, and everything it ISN'T. Hopefully Jeep see's that too

the more n more shit they put into vehicles like back up cameras. bind spot monitoring and stuff like that.... all its doing is making people forget the fundamentals of driving and everything... plus its just more shit to go wrong and it increases the price of the vehicle when you don't really need any of it

This guy is way too dependent on a backup camera. And we want to see the jeep, no the camera pointed at you the whole time. Get someone who knows a thing or two about the vehicle next time as well.

I do have to laugh... It's obvious the narrator isn't a jeep person or ever will be. I'd like to see a real jeep person do a review. Backup camera??? Buy a minivan... and getting my suit wet... Watch the morning weather report. I've put up my top in on an older JKU very quickly and the new soft top on the 2012 is even easier. Please get a real jeep person to evaluate the 2012 jeep's off-roading capability... Drag race my jeep? It's a jeep! I do like the extra power to get me up the mountain.
