Fibromyalgia/ME/CFS/POTS Recovery Psychology - The Moment of Change

Fibromyalgia psychology or ME/CFS psychology can seem like a strange topic for a real physical illness. But when we are dimished, everything becomes hard and the emotional response to chronic illness can really hinder our ability to improve our lives and well-being.
So tapping into the psychology of change to take steps forward can become critical.
In episode 9 of the podcast Claudia and Dan talk about that moment in her recovery where she "chose her world".
We discuss practical and psychological aspects of where we place our focus whilst chronically ill and some of the fascinating neuroscience behind the practice of visualisation.
Strategies, impacts and much more about shifting our focus from illness to health.

Thanks as always Dan. Such a good point about needing to let go of recovery focus at some point. Having the confidence to let go is the tricky part!

For me I realised very quickly that (facebook) groups are not the right thing for me and I stopped that very quickly. But I am in two fb groups that are just positive and CFS isn't even a real issue that is discussed there. That is fine for me and uplifting. PS Great Interview!!!!!

I have a visual memory. I never knew this until I discovered that some people actually don’t have ‘a minds eye’. I was amazed. My memory is amazing now I know... Hahaha 😆🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺Hello Dan and Claudia.❤️

I’ve been following these interviews for years. I feel like I’m too unwell a lot of the time to meditate, and when I am up to it, I can’t bring myself to do it. It’s only when I’m in a severe crash like I am now that I think, “I better give this a try.”

Hey Richard! Sorry to hear that, my wife is also stuck in a cycle of crashes. Taking into account what you heard in this interview, what is preventing you from putting the focus on the world you want to create/be?

consistency has been my biggest issue as well, even though i DO have the energy to meditate i resent the time away from essential tasks/entertainment etc iv started wearing a bracelet as a physical reminder. an interview with raelan said meditation is almost universal in recovery because it teaches the ANS you are safe n how to relax at all levels of the subconscious, as well as the other benefits, such as shrinking the brain areas which are too large and increasing the areas which are too small.

Thanks Dan! My wife did your program a year ago, but unfortunately she is still stuck in the PEM crash cycle, loosing her physical and mental condition as time passes by. She is definitely focused on the disease and like both of you, fully identified with it. The fear of letting go is also very present and comes in the form of what if I get even worst?! I know we can’t force people into insights, like the one Claudia had, but what else could I and the family do to help her choose her world and stay away from the disease? Any suggestions to help her facing her biggest fears?

Why do you blame your wife? Blame this quack. He is scamming you for money for his "program". M.E. Is a real biological and physical illness. You can't recover from it by changing your mindset. I feel for your wife. She is living with a gaslighting s.o.b.

Majority of your recovery stories are CFS related? Can you recover from fibromyalgia or is it even harder to recover from fibromyalgia than cfs?
