He and Sephiroth are set in the same field in the source code of the FF7 game, and their faces are very similar.Vincent will disappear if the cheat code is used to make Sephiroth appear in the team.

In the dvd release of advent children, there a little recap movie called the reminisce of ff7. Inbetween major events, cloud is getting calls from different characters including vincent where vincent tells cloud to tell yuffie to stop spamming his new phone with calls, just cause she has his number doesnt mean he should be spam called.

This is from 2005, let that sink in. The animation still looks amazing

Genuine question - why is it good? I mean other than seeing the gang do gang-like things, why is it good? I've seen it three times, trying to give it the benefit of the doubt, but other than the visuals, I can't see why it is deserving of praise? The VA is appallingly bad in parts, especially Aerith and Tifa. The fighting gets incomprehensible with the editing far too quick and the angles far too tight. The plot is contrived, the narrative, choppy and the script is fanfic levels of poor. That's just my opinion anyway. I really want to like it, so would love to hear your opinion.

@@arvinjay336 these fight scenes would fit in perfectly with today’s fight scenes.

It took nearly 19 years but the animation is only just starting to really show its age and that's only the enviroment design, characters textures and lightning, they cut zero corners when it came to the models and character movements themselves. Truly they outdid themselves with this move.

This is Advent Children Complete. Loads better than the original release.

Please do elaborate. I bought the DVD of the Japanese dub version some years ago, but I learned that it had some scenes removed/changed, most notably the brutal parts towards the end of Cloud's battle with Sephiroth. How exactly is the Complete version different ?

​@@kertaspaper94right on top of my head, Tifa vs Loz fight had Tifa covered in some dust and soots but otherwise nothing change much. The bike battle between Cloud vs Yazoo and Loz becomes longer, with more screentime for the Turks boys (they tried to aid Cloud with a chopper, instead of just bombing Yazoo and Loz at the end of the tunnel) In the final fight, Cloud attempted to finish off Sephiroth with the original omnislash, but failing, followed by Sephiroth using his own version of limit break on Cloud, causing him to bleed pretty hard. Only afterward did the Zack spectre come to encourage Cloud. Oh and the aura emited by Cloud when using limit breaks have been changed to blue all around instead of orange. Omnislash version 5 was also slightly modified.

I saw this early 2000. And it STILL look good today. This was on another level.

One thing i always loved about advent children (Aside from literally the whole thing) was that they are all wearing ribbons. The end game accessory that prevents all status effects.

I love this movie. This movie is all really about how Cloud finally able to move on from the past. The ending scene is really bittersweet by showing Aerith's and Zack's soul smiled at Cloud and finally able to move on to the afterlife..

It's a great film for fans of Tifa. Not so great for fans of Aerith, given the terrible VA, her sad smile at the end, plus her being written out of the credits because Nomura seems genuinely dedicated to shipping his character Zack with her.

I actually didn't play the original game, I was a bit too young for FF7 OG so I played FF7 Crisis Core so the ships of Aerith-Zack and Cloud-Tifa have always made sense to me

Watched this when I was a kid and used to call the main blonde guy (Cloud) Tidus mainly because I used to watch my dad play FFX a lot, lol. This, along with FFX, got me interested in the series but never really played them because of turn-based combat and felt intimidated by the length/multiple discs some of the games had. It was only then when I reached my teens that I randomly played a bit of Lost Odyssey just to give myself a taste of what playing a Final Fantasy-esque game would feel like. After that, I finally gave these games a shot by playing VII and X simultaneously. Loved the games along with some similar RPGs ever since. I probably wouldn't have liked these games as much had I played them when I was in elementary school. Sorry for this long-ass post. Just felt the need to get it off my chest.

And they made them look even better in FF7 Remake.

FF7 remake was a bad remake. Linear, xp was gated, no exploration, all it is is arena action boss fight. Its a waste. Fortunatly the next one will ha e an explorable world. Finally. FF7 remake is hand holding and xp gating you. Might as well have them ay it for you also. No agency what so ever.

Final fantasy has always had insanely good animation

I was a senior in high school when the original release came out. As a HUGE FFVII fan, this was a dream come true. Seeing all of them looking real with voices. Cloud and Aerith were in Kingdom Hearts with voices, but this movie hit different. Aerith had like 3 different VAs before Remake. None were quite right. Remake finally got her right. When Advent Children Complete first came out, I imported it from Japan because it came out there first and it had a demo for FFXIII (plus it surprisingly had the English VAs, even for the new scenes). Hella expensive at the time, but worth it. Might be worth a small fortune now actually…

Ff7r was based on the framework of the movie they wanted to fuse all the lore from the stories,this movie and the old games connected to ff7 hence why there are alot of ff7 book Easter eggs,and visual callbacks to this movie

The new voice for Cloud is soooo freaking good in FF7R, BUT i like Newbern better as Sephiroth tbh. He just has that Dark velvet voice for him that just screams Sephiroth imo. Iconic. The new voice ain't bad, but it isn't doing it 100% for me at least.

I agree with you. If the English voice sounds like the Japanese voice’s I will use the English dub but if they do t sound like the Japanese voices I will use subs. Or if the voices don’t match the characters at all I will stick with the Japanese version my case in point is Naruto dub the voice acting in that sounds corny and over acting the voices sounds un natural imo.

This movie was revolutionary almost 20 years ago, but yeah, the current remakes obviously look better due to modern capabilities. Also, the new VA cast is superior, and saying that isn't only recency bias. In particular, I just can't imagine Tifa anymore without Britt Baron's voice. It fits her perfectly, it's PRECISELY how I heard Tifa in my head when I played the OG. In comparison, Tifa's VA here is phoning it in. Barret, on the other hand, sounds like a white trucker in his 60s, lmao.

I'm just waiting now for Vincent and Cid's appearance in FF7 Rebirth.

Denzel being referenced to Zack fighting the shinra officers and Tifa being referenced to Aerith being stabbed by Sephiroth is so sad 😞 I’m glad Cloud saved them in time.

O recently just rewatch it after many years and it still holds to be one of the best animated movies i have scene 2005 wow with resident evil 4 what were people doing that year we will never see again

I guarantee in part 3 we’re gonna get fights like this against the weapons they’re already teasing in in combat in rebirth by having the entire party on screen fighting. Part 3 will definitely have the option to actually switch to party members while everyone is fighting at the same time.

I still strongly prefer Cloud's original design, and you will never convince me that the Fusion Sword is better than the Buster Sword. Although while still not as good as the original, this design is still pretty cool.

@@seijin4426 No, it's a completely different sword Cloud replaced the Buster Sword with because he decided to use the Buster Sword as a marker for where Zack died. At the end of the movie, it was moved to the church where Cloud met Aerith.

Animation will be the future of movies. So far animation has been marketed towards general audiences, but I think very soon it will expand into other genres and demographics and increase in popularity.

I can't believe this came out nearly 20 years ago...

advent children was the perfect closing to Cloud's story, and we got one more AVALANCHE moment

It's often overlooked, but Cid's entrance was very smooth, he descended with a very light step with no chute like Yuffie cause he's the dragoon in FF7's party

The divide in video game CGI vs movie CGI is kinda wild when this is from 05 and it took til 2020 te get ff7 looking this clean in the games

With all the new scenes they added, Tifa's eyes still not being a shade of red remains AC's biggest crime

This was mint when it came out all those years ago. Still holds up well today...Well apart from the hair...the gold standard still remains Aki Ross from Spirits within years before...even if it nearly bankrupt Squaresoft

I never understood final fantasy but this animation always blew my mind as a kid,to this day i still think its a masterpiece

With Final fantasy remake part 2 (Rebirth) release we are getting close to this kind of scene being reenacted. I can't wait to see how much more epic it will look like in Part 3 of the remake with possibly an extra swordsman included.

When I saw this in the old days. I was overwhelmed with excitement Now, I hope the Remake Trilogy Games Will Create a scene similar to this. As proof that all the Completion of 7, will be remembered

And years later we finally get the remastered game. Fantastic

animation: amazing for early 2000 voice acting: its like they took voice actors from the psp/ps2 era video games of square enix and put them into a cg cinematic. i didnt get the luxery to watch this as a kid since i never knew what ff was at the time, but coming back to watching it for the first time. . . i love the combat, voice acting is kinda hit or miss for me but not too bad, story made me cry more than i needed to. everytime i saw aerith or zack appear in clouds memories in flashing white, my emotions came out like a bom that has been cooked long enough to explode.

i remember seeing this in 2005 being like "Damn Imagine if the game had graphics like this." And with the remakes, its actually objectively better in cut scenes in 2024.

I honestly would not be surprised if they did a remake of Advent Children with updated graphics and maybe a bit more clarity/improvement in the presentation of the story and the dialogue. Smooth out any disconnects between the completed Remake trilogy and AC. After another 3 years when the third entry is out, AC will be over 20 years old and will look even more dated than it does now, and I think SE will want new fans of FFVII to be able to appreciate the movie. Fingers crossed, I think an updated AC would be AMAZING
