I mean, tbt he didn't exactly "beat" Sephiroth at Nibelheim. He just impales him with the Buster Sword, giant ass sword that it is, while Sephiroth was distracted meeting Jenova for the first time, and even then Sephiroth was strong enough to shake him off. Besides, Sephiroth had just fought Zack, and now he had a big hole in his body lol.

I remember when this took like 5 years to finally get released, and it was the pinnacle of animation and 3d character design for like a month or two. Wild how every thing that square-enix released after this all kept this realistic-ish art style.

@@123455866201Aaron it went out in 2005 I think right before the Crisis Core PSP game, and in 2009 the complete version on blueray got released. Comparing to Final Fantasy the movie, it certanly got more feels, smooth moves

A month or 2? this shit was everyone pointed to for years, the only people who beat it were blizzards WoW trailers and they weren't whole ass movies. this was in 2005

The leads at Squeenix said their modern combat systems from Dissidia, XIII, XV, XVI and the VIII remakes were made to emulate the energy of this fight.... i think they have gotten that nailed down at the time of Rebirth's launch

Don’t forget this fight also influenced how the combat and cutscene direction (with fights) in Kingdom Hearts were by the time of KH2 onwards

@@HotFiya05one of my biggest pet peeves in gaming design. I totally understand from a level design and story perspective. But don’t show me bro able to do leaps and bounds over sky scrapers then handicap me 4 minutes later in game. It’s just frustrating imo. Especially when it’s s wall blocking a path you clearly need to go to, but a small fence or tree is in the way

I believe that Sephiroth has never fought Cloud even remotely serious. The guy smiles and smirks through 90% of the fight, the only time he seems "concerned" (more like surprised/impressed) is when Cloud pulls out his new flashy move. Attack which does ZERO noticeable damage to him by the way, to where he then proceeds to just smile again, busts out a big, thick wing, tells Cloud how much he loves him, and leaves.

i agree. I always wanted cloud to have a ACTUAL serious final battle with sephiroth where sephiroth actually tries for once. It would give both characters great development and the line "I will never be a memory" will be so much cooler. Because we all KNOW sephiroth was giving cloud the work and was still barely trying lmao.

@@NightFury11818 dude his death was one and done in literaly 10 seconds in the original game. no final showdown, just shot in the back and on the ground to finish off. he was of no consequence in the story as people make it to be after CC. but to answer your question, yes a lot of them did.

One thing I love about the remake is you feel like this when fighting. One thing I hate is that a knee high piece of trash is an impassable forcefield when just walking around. Yuffie can literally teleport to her shurikan but need to use it to hit a button to bring an elevator down one floor.

I really hope that square-enix will put the fusion sword in part 3 of the remakes of the games i know its only cannon to the film but it would be so cool to have this added as a easter egg kinda thing

The thing about Sephiroth and Jenova is that Sephiroth's will is so strong when he fell into the life stream, that it symbiotically merged with Jenova's. So whose in control? In the end, its Jenova, because the cells of Jenova were already within Sephiroth in the first place, as too was Cloud's and many others who were injected with the Jenova cells. But thing is, Jenova was using Sephiroth to also further her own goals, as an alien parasite. Sephiroth was merely the face of Jenova's will, with Sephiroth adamantly demanding Cloud give into Seph's/Jenova's will. Which is to obey, in part, to Sephiroth, and that's why he had inklings to kill Aerith and he wasn't in control. Why? I suspect it would be hard for S.E, or Nomura to depict Jenova directly herself, as the fact is stated that Jenova used anyone known to the affected prey, to infect. Be it friend, foe, deceased loved ones which is how it was able to kill and infect so many Cetra. In particular, Jenova uses Sephiroth to be controlled. He was lost the moment he found out about Jenova being his mother and being influenced it in the basement. If he had known more information about his biological mother, his will would've perhaps resisted Jenova. Therein, Jenova has controlled Sephiroth, using his will and power and strength as the main antagonist to puppeteer Sephiroth. Even Cloud in OG FF7 doesn't know too well about what Jenova is. In Rebirth, he does now. It's an ancient, alien parasitical virus that takes over others in their cellular structure.

Sephiroth is in control that much is already confirmed his will power was so strong that he took over completely and Jenova is not a ancient/cetra but something far older as it says jenova maybe older than gaia/gaea you can look it up and read about it yourself

The game literally says verbatum that sephiroth is controlling Jenova, not the other way around. And also Jenova isn’t a cetra she’s an alien that goes around destroying planets; the Cetra sealed her way back in the past before the main story takes place because she was turning everyone into monsters, trying to eradicate life. Hojo just thought that she was a Cetra. Cetra are the ancestors of humans. The Cetra were a migratory race, part of them split off and settled down, ultimately losing their connection to the life energy of the planet and becoming modern day humans, the rest of the migratory Cetra that retained their powers were thought to have completely died off, but Aerith was the last one.

@@huh3719 I think they actually meant ancient as in ancient virus not _the_ ancient. Though I would agree with notion that Sephiroth was indeed in full control at the end of the OG FF7. A lot of fans try to portray him as a victim of Jenova while I find his character more complex: him being disconnected from the rest of humanity his whole life, even his friends being enhanced SOLDIERs who eventually drifted away; his father being the biggest disappointment and his "mother", doesn't really matter if the ancient or a virus - just a superior being. Come to think of it, Sephiroth being the one of his kind on the Planet truly had nothing better to do than what he did. Sailing the cosmos to find something new in life doesn't sound too bad for a person.

Ah, this was such a good voice for Cloud.

You all are correct! There are three versions. Complete, Director's Cut, and Normal version which is missing the scene where Cloud gets impaled (in the regular version he just gets stabbed through shoulder) and some scenes with Zack.

I believe this might not be exactly the real Sephiroth. The real one died in the Nibelheim accident. The Sephiroth that we meet after that is more of a projection created jointly by both Jenova and the original Sephiroth's consciousness from within the livestream. That's why there is always something uncanny and vague about his apparitions. He's more of a spiritual projection, no longer tied materially to the physical world. Although there was indeed an attempt to regenerate his body at the Northern Crater. But Cloud did defeat the OG Sephiroth in Nibelheim, which is remarkable. Also, it's amazing to see how far Cloud as come. Despite never being accepted into SOLDIER, he became the only human capable of defeating Sephiroth, surpassing even Angeal and Genesis.

​@queterian1526 THIS. So many people get this SO WRONG about Cloud. The dude was already WICKEDLY strong before he was enhanced by Hojo. It's the whole reason Sephiroth has to manipulate Cloud and degrade him into thinking he's just a puppet and not a real person. Sephiroth was so shocked by Cloud's BRUTE STRENGTH FEAT of pulling himself down the length of the Muramasa JUST so he could stand on solid ground and YEET Sephiroth into the wall. I don't remember where but it's stated the only reason Cloud didn't make SOLDIER is because his mind was too weak to undergo the Mako treatment. He's ALWAYS been that strong.... and then Hojo went and infused him with Jenova cells, making him even stronger but susceptible to Sephiroth's mind tricks due to Cloud's amnesia. God, FF7 is so well written

​@@queterian1526tbh I really don't like it how Zack gets underapreciated a lot. Zack was probably the Soldier with the most potential of all. Sephi, Angeal and Genesis had special experiments to make perfect soldiers but Zack had only the normal Soldier treatment. And you shouldn't forget that Sephi was on his last leg after fighting Zack as you can see in the original where he barely is able to walk. That was the only reason cloud could overpower sephi since he was completely exhausted.

When Final Fantasy 7 Remake part 3 I better be able to build this version of the Buster Sword.

The easy answer would be to say Jenova cells. Its basically a deadish super being that was taken into custody by Shinra. But other characters have been shown to zoom too though like Cid, so it could also be materia related or normal human restrictions dont apply in this world

yeaahhhh after watching this again FF Remake Sephiroth is for sure 100% this Sephiroth, at at least the Remake/Rebirth Sephiroth has his memory's, Again The Omi-Slash is the key here. The Orginal Omi-slash was more of a "mental battle" as it has been mentioned before, so that was all in the mind so if you look at it that way this is the FIRST time cloud really used the Omi-slash against Sephiroth and he was 100% taken back and surprised by it. In the remake at "the end time/edge of creation" battle Cloud prepped, and rushed the Omi-slash on him and As he did Sephiroth just smirked at him like "oh this again" and blocked every single slash from it, not cockly mind you, he watched every single moved and swayed, dodge and blocked KNOWING how dangerous it is, only way he could do that is if he knows the attack, only way he could know the attack is if he seen it before: and this is where he saw it.

And they say Clive would destroy Cloud😲

If my memory serves me right, pretty sure The original sephiroth was thrown into the mako reactor by cloud, who was impaled on sephiroth's sword after sephiroth had mortally wounded Zack and he was thrown into the mako reactor with jenovas head?. So basically All the sephiroths throughout the game is just jenova clones?. (Or am i wrong) , its been ages since i last played FF7 lol.

Until the North Crater, yes. All Sephiroths are Black Cloaks having Sephiroth projected unto them. Jenova appearances are her body parts I believe. Could be misremembering the specifics, but you're right.

I really hope they bring back the English VA for Sephiroth and Zack. I get that it's a multiverse thing and in Remake/Rebirth is a different Sephiroth. I still can't feel the vibe of the newer one over the OG.

That's because this is the Complete version of the movie. The original version didn't have any blood.

The animation is flawless. The action superb. The sound design is a little flat sometimes; feels like nothing has weight to it. And the voices fit very wel. (Let me finish) This seems like it was a line for line dub, so there wasn’t a localizer to spice up the dialogue ti keep it from being flat as well. But the actors themselves are good.
