Cloud: “He’s tough.” Aerith: “Yeah, so what? Screw him.” Hearing this for the first time just really made it sink in for me how Aerith’s character really shined in this remake.

Im not into waifus and hentai but Aerith is like the most beautiful fictional character ever created by so much and she's not wearing revealing or tight clothing she's just bubbly and fun and a pleasure to be around, I've dated a few innocent but headstrong intelligent girls like her before and lost em 😭 everytime I hear her tease cloud my heart aches 😅

I like how cloud has the courage to fight Sephiroth, but at the same time he's afraid because he know what the one winged angel can do

How does he know? in the real story he can't even remember fighting Sephiroth and has no idea about the one winged angel. Come to think of it in the original story Barret had a brain and was more interested in fighting Shinra than Sephiroth or walking in some random portal. The new game is very dumb. Very very dumb.

Because by both Zack, and clouds point of view, they both defeated sephiroth to the best of their knowledge. Also, the extended story very clearly shows every original 1st class SOLDIERS had wings. His was the black one. This game includes all side content over the years.

This remake is genuinely a remake of history, Sephiroth and Aerith already know their fates and are now trying to change it. Final Fantasy has always been different because it's always been trying to innovate, no game in the main franchise is similar to the other, look at that.

​@@Musician7831 No, Sephiroth and Aerith know of their fates because of their connection to the Lifestream and now they are trying to change that fate. It is literally what was described. Understanding, you have your standards and choices, no one can define that but yourself (neither did I need to state this)

What I love is that Remake is basically Sephiroth being so strong he is brute forcing on rewriting continuity because in their universe there are two constants, 1. If Sephiroth is to live Cloud must die 2. If Cloud is to live Sephiroth must die and he managed to actually make it so they both can exist in the Unknown Journey.

That's not true, though. The opposite is true, in fact. Sephiroth tied his existence to Cloud's during the events of Lifestream: Black. That's what his "nor will I have you end" statement means - as long as Cloud lives, Sephiroth has a way to come back. It's not that one or the other must die, Sephiroth has locked himself into the stalemate that _he can never kill Cloud_ but also that Cloud CAN kill him, just not permanently.

I think that has less to do with Sephiroth being so strong and more to do with the fact that he knows what Cloud can do at this point. We're not just dealing with the OG Sephiroth. We're dealing with one that has lived through all of this already. He knows Cloud inside and out, his strengths and weaknesses, which buttons to push. When you consider that, its little wonder why Sephiroth was able to fend off Cloud so easily.

Septhiroth is still the best Videogame villian ever. To Cloud, courage isn't the absence of fear, but still being able to move forward regardless of feeling fear

Sephiroth is one of thw most famous one, but as a villain he didn't do anything espectacular Fucked up the already fucked up psyche if Cloud( he was mako poisoned and thought himself Zack) killed a girl, burned a small town, killed president shinra and that's it. Killing Shinra and Aerith was not even him but Jenova. Compare that to Kefka from FF6 who killed many via watwr poisoning. Killed minions, killee his own emperor. Killed thousands when he became the god of magic and his death meant the death of all magical life including the main character whose fate is unknown

@@breadandcircuses8127 It allows for both action gamers and old school turn based gamers to play in completely different ways allowing for both types of players, who are extremely opposite of each other can enjoy the game the same amount. It's fucking astounding. They actually worked the formula out after like 20 years of trying. An example would be an action player using the built in shortcuts they have and also learning the menu and scrolling through it at lightning speed and confirming their abilities at just the right time. The old school turn based guys are taking their time with each and every attack and command and using the built in slow motion to their advantage to think things through in a quick moving situation and build their strategies. The combat is also deep and has a lot of combos that are freaking crazy. Aerith is the best in the game hands down which I personally think is cool.

@@RIELTURO Still can't conclude that as we're only able to play the first part of the story in the remake. The ghost area is a bit dragging tho. I don't understand the reason for making the ghost chapter 2 dungeons and not just 1. The solar lamp things too is just so dragging. Chapter 9 was awesome but I wish they cut it into two chapters because that chapter is longer than some 3 chapters combined. Aside from those things, I think the remake is pretty good. I like how they bring elements from other FF7 games into the remake, especially the guys from the main Avalanche unit looking straight up from Before Crisis.

@@terrellking5119 I played FF8 as a kid and loved it, then I replayed it last year, as a 28-year old adult with formal studies in writing and literature. That was surely the worst writing in all of FF mainline games. FF16 story looks like a masterpiece when played right after FF8.

I was 13 yrs old in 1997. I got FF7 for my bday. My mom reserved it for me at Sears back in August 1997. No final fantasy series will ever beat this. Fast forward 20+ years later after all the spin off games, movies I’m 38 years old now and just beat the intergrade version. Story was altered but it’s okay.

story was altered coz it is a sequel and treat it this way. square was just kind enough to desingned it the way as we played original game so we can relive our nostalgia, but by the end of 3rd instalment it will be clear , this was part 2 to the orignal 1997 game

Around 90 inches was the average length of a nodachi's blade with another 37 inches for the tang. Sephiroth's Murasamune Sword was a nodachi.

its funny that sephrioth now has more personal respectful relationship to cloud rather just talking smack down to his ass like he insignificant, i guess being humbly defeated by him 4 times, if count time he first struck him down! 2 times defeated him at end of final fantasty 7 with his intial multi stage boss fight, and final duel or should say masscare at hands of cloud, and final time at end of advent children. He finally earned his respect a bit, hahahaha.

@@elizabethchint2391 I think the game highly implies the Sephiroth and Aerith in this game are the same ones from the original FF7; Aerith knows things she normally shouldn't (like Cloud claiming to be a mercenary) and Sephiroth urging Cloud's party to defeat the arbiters, thus freeing the world from fate. As a result, this new world is full of possibilities, including the possibility of Sephiroth winning.

One thing I never realized before is that this scene is reminiscent of their final fight in the original FF7.

Sephiroth and Kefka may be some of the greatest villains I've ever seen in all of my gaming days. I find a good villain to be as important as the main character. When we watch movies or shows it feels like the hero is ALWAYS the one who gets more attention, gets fanboyed over, or is the most popular and famous. If we don't have a villain that can genuinely make me dislike him/her, that can make me angry at them or hate them, the entire story falls apart for me ya know? A good villain gives you more of a reason to root for the hero, they don't get enough praise in my opinion.

Whatever changes they have in stored are clearly going to be lore breaking: At any point it was clear Sephiroth was 100% playing with cloud and cloud really had zero chance here even with a full team. I have a strong feeling that this Sephiroth is from another time line: After Advent children perhaps? He clearly seems to know more things then he should (He clearly was able to predict and block the Omislash at the end) and I also believe "7 seconds* as others have said I am sure is the time it takes from him to drop from the ceiling, plunge down and Kill Aerith (watch the orginal FMV: its 7 seconds): Can cloud stop that? If cloud stops that and saves Aerith and she does not become part of the life stream uhh...thats very bad for the world: because then Holy will not work and nothing can stop Sephiroth's original main goal/plan.

I dont think Holy worked because she died, I think it worked in spite of her death. The whole point in killing her supposed to be keeping Holy from working, that's why cloud was possessed to kill her but it didn't work, so Sephiroth had to finish the job himself. But he was too late, her prayer was already heard and granted.

@@jameson2916 Either way and either case: She will not die in this remake, Something about her dying and not dying will change the outcome of something. this Sephiroth we met over the course of FF remake CLEARLY has knowledge about events he should not have because they have "not happened yet" Sephiroth said it his self he would "not become a memory" in Advent children, either this Sephiroth is from later in the time line or, is getting visions/memory's from that time line - Again perfect example he blocked clouds Omi-slash: while maybe the "proto" version of it, he still blocked every single attack with ease which means he knows about the move: when he should have no idea about it.

I dont think hes from another timeline or anything though because then we would still have the original timeline's sephiroth as well, but there seems to be only one. It's more like the original sephiroth has somehow tapped into a, like you said, future knowledge or something. I'm curious how it plays out. 👍

​@@elizabethchint2391go find me a game from the ps4 generation that has boss battles like 16. You'll find none. Only asura what and god of war 3 had this types of epic bosses. 16 boss battles are the best in final fantasy franchise. Its not even close.

I remember my heart pounding while fighting him.

3:01 when aerith joins the fight and the next sequence of one winged angel soundtrack starts just makes sephiroth even more thrilling to fight and makes you realise how big of a threat he really is. Gameplay was spot on with this remake and I really can’t wait for rebirth for even more insane fighting scenes and gameplay but furthermore the soundtracks too!

Sephiroth so cool he hit the reset button to try again. He truly never gives up his will truly is that strong. Poor cloud lol having to fight sephiroth eternally.

My favorite villain next to Emperor Vlad. Stylish and clean cut villain, such a badass it's hilarous.

Man I wish they used the old actor for sephiroth he was who I grew up with while playing crisis core and watching advent children. His deeper voice gave sephiroth more terrifying presence. The new actor is still great did better than I expected props for doing my favorite villian in gaming so well.

His swordmanship is astounding. Given the length of the Masamune. Even considering with his abilities to him it's as heavy as a Q-tip. To handle a sword with such a long blade and masterfully parry as he did clouds strikes. Spectacular.

@@ShittyMcPoopyBalls i mean, thats basicly why ppl played all kinds of challanges (no materia, no itemes, no limits etc) over the years with every other FF - creativity was ur only limitation for setting ur own difficulty. yes its technicly doable for devs to make couple difficulty modes, but it would probably cause even longer devolopment/testing time , which already is massive.

@@fenrisbutcher7343 we’re mostly talking about sekiro style combat, not difficulty, sorry for the confusion. Tactical mode disabled and precision-parries wouldn’t be impossible to implement alongside the standard gameplay

Sephiroth - best waifu in the game

One complaint about this fight. Sephiroth for the most part doesn't even bother to parry or block. Why is this? Could it be because he's so far beyond his original birth form that physical attacks mean very little to him? Or he could he be mocking Cloud saying "you stabbed me before but that was then, this is now." But it still doesn't even cover the basics of swordmanship which he is known to be advanced. Inconsequential for some but a detail that's questionable to me.

Perhaps Sephiroth was holding back, because if you observes, you can note that Sephiroth wasn't fighting seriously, he was more like toying with the heroes, meaning that Sephiroth wasn't trying hard to crush them.

I know the creators specifically stated. However it’s quite obvious😂 he’s left handed but used his right hand when fighting Cloud. If Sephiroth is serious, this will be an extremely one sided battle.

Damn, I didn’t know Barret could join when you were fighting Sephiroth. I only ever had Tifa and Aerith join

What did you capture this ok to get 4k 60fps? I try with hd60 x and obs and can't seem to get this quality.

Defeating Sephiroth is basically absolutely hard. Both in Original and Remake.

I remember my first playthrough in the original, there's a spot before you fight jenova synthesis where you fall down a ledge and couldn't go back. Atleast I couldn't find a way. I didn't know that before I jumped and only had that single save file so when I saved down there it was too late. I was way unprepared in terms of items, level, etc. at the time and I was young with no internet or anything for tips so it was super hard. I had to fight all the mini bosses and finally got to Jenova synthesis, after some tries I finally got past her too. A part of me was hoping that was it, because it was so hard at the time. Especially after going through the northern crater and having to refight the miniboss dracozombies or whatever before fighting her. Then here comes this huge ass bizzaro Sephiroth and I'm like fml 😂 every time I died I had to start all the way over through jenova and all that. Finally I figured it out and barely surving I pulled out a win and I was so excited I finally fuckin beat him. Game Over. Then... that infamous OWA music and God of destruction Sephiroth came. I was so distraught and in awe at the same time. He literally cooked my ass.. I just stared at my save file on the loading screen thinking of what all I had done to get here, for what seemed like forever, then finally just said F it and went to new game 😂

Zack is a great character! I would like to play with him again in next chapter.

Man, I just know they're going to have Zack die again. Just in a different way, the idea of legacy that goes from Angeal -> Zack -> Cloud is a very powerful theme that carries throughout FF7. Cloud had some kind of personality, a cheery one before the whole incident, his own memories, he eventually gets it back but that's one of the points of FF7, Cloud finding out who he is again. I'm not saying Zack is the Jiraiya to Naruto (if you get the reference) but he kind of is -- it will make Cloud better for the future, at THE LEAST, something like Cloud post-Advent Children.

One thing I wish was different about this fight is I really wanted his theme to stand out a bit more and really punch you in the face. I feel like the background music should have been a lot louder than it was.

I regret playing this game with the BGM off. That last battle sequence is so much more epic with the music

I haven't played this yet. I'll get around to it but is it just me or did they do away with damage caps? I remember 9999 being a big thing during the PS1 days.

Yeah, i read that this is one of the theories about the cryptic commentary of Sephiroth. Even, this could speculates that the reason to that Sephiroth said it to Cloud, was to sabotage his own murder attempt of Aerith, to prevent that she can return to the Planet and become a greater threat in the Lifestream.

The seven can only remain a short time before the eighth, in this case seph returns. The woman, ishtar, sits on seven hills. The seven deadly sins clog the seven hills. Greatest game villain of all time

I do love how they changed it up with the remake. Don't get me wrong I would have enjoyed it if it was just the original game but looking fancy, but that would also kind of be boring. We'd already know everything there is, so when this happened I was like "Whoa what!"

If they do, I hope they keep it faithful to the original and not change any major story elements from it. As bad ass as the FF7 Remake is, I don't like the change of direction to the story, like the stupid "plot ghosts" or Sephiroth being introduced this early into the game without the suspense and tension being built up about him...Other than that though, the character development, graphics, boss fights and music is great.

DUDE just how far gaming went from the oryginal verion...

Okay, so, if Sephy traveled back to change history so he would win, I am curious if it's Days of Future Past rules or Endgame rules. Basically, does he possess his past self or enter into the Jenova hivemind along with his past self? Or does the "past" Sephiroth in this timeline continue to exist independantly of "future" Sephiroth? Either way, I feel like any eventual interactions will be quite interesting.
