The decision to have Butler portray Feyd as unstable, but intelligent and honourable is way better than the conniving and cowardly version of the books and 1984. Feyd stands as a a true equal to Paul with true potential to rise like Paul, rather than a dishonest cheat who relies on poison.

  • @ryanarment5393

He wasn’t a conniving coward in the book. He was every bit as cunning, intelligent, as he was here. He was planning to eliminate his uncle and was moving his people into positions of power within the harkonnen chain of command. To that end he willingly faced a gladiator who wasn’t drugged, fought him man to man even after surprise reveal the man was an atreides soldier trained by halleck and idaho. He instructed that the man be given an honorable burial after his death, that he be buried in tact and with his blade. Feyd also deduced what his uncle’s plans for him, arrakis, and the throne were during their confrontation after the failed assasination attempt. The attempt only failed because thufir warned the baron about it. The ‘84 portrayl by sting has no defence. That was just bad writing, and casting across the board.

And a rush of power. The people around him were constantly trembling in fear because he might randomly kill them next. And he was openly described as a sociopath and as psychotic by people who seem to know what they are talking about when it comes to such things. I'm not sure what else you could possibly need to determine him as a villain? "I am a villain" tattooed on his forehead? If the reason you say this is because Paul might cause more death/destruction in the end, ok, but it's not really an either/or situation. They can _both_ be villains. If you can't determine that a sadistic sociopath with no regard for life is supposed to portray a villain, well, I'm not sure what you would consider a villain at that point.

But it seems to be a common theme with actors now days, they suddenly rise, star in 2-3 major films then theyre gone. @@purpledragons1146 Lea Seydoux herself said that she will be “in the 3rd one” in several interviews. I’m just going by what she said. Plus her husband was excluded in the movie therefore the likelihood of her being in “Messiah” isn’t so low.

Mr Austin, Villeneuve, you did not do a good job, not a just great job, but an exceptionally brilliant job. This is cinema history, the people will remember in 100 or 200 years, at least if we'll make it as a civilisation, which I doubt.

@@milutinstankovic4638 i mean we wont see them in Villeneuves dune, iirc he only wants to do one more movie (messiah), children of dune will probably be in a whole different format if it is adapted (and either way the actors would not be forseeable now since they would need to be child actors at the time of filming, meaning they arent in the acting world yet probably)

@@milutinstankovic4638 If we ever have Children of Dune, I see Ghanima as Mackenzie Foy or even Ana de Armas, but I have a hard time imagining someone for Leto II, I feel that being such a complex character makes it difficult for me to see an actor and say: oh! this is perfect. Above all because I think it should give an aura of authority but at the same time a perhaps young face at the beginning, since I saw James Mcvoy it has been difficult for me not to see him as Leto II, although the series was not the best, I think he did an excellent job, so maybe someone who looks like him

Have a feeling that one of the reason why Paul can best Feyd (aside from all that prophecy stuffs) is that Feyd was being overly arrogant and not trying to finish Paul off asap (the classic and make-sense way to kill off a villain when you accidentally potrayed him ridiculously powerful)
