In January 2023, European travel expert Rick Steves hosted a series of free, fun virtual events to inspire travelers to their next European adventure.
Rick is joined by tour guide Cristina Duarte to celebrate the bustling cities, small towns, food, wine, and music of tradition-rich Portugal. From exciting Lisbon, we'll venture into the Portuguese countryside to visit sun-baked Évora and nearby cork groves of Alentejo, adorable Óbidos, beachy Nazaré, the university town of Coimbra, gritty-hip Porto, the port-wine vineyards and dramatic scenery of the Douro Valley, plus olive farms - all highlights of our Best of Portugal tour.

Thank you Rick! I decided to learn Portuguese in April 2020 after watching one of your shows when you said don’t speak to people in Spanish when visiting Portugal because they speak Portuguese! This past summer I traveled through Lisbon, Porto, the douro river valley, Nazare-obidos, the algarve, and setubal. I loved the country and speaking with locals in my (Brazilian) Portuguese accent was very rewarding for me. Era uma viagem incrivel para mim. Muito obrigado! Tchau.

Greetings from a Portuguese living in Prague... welcome to my country, especially to my city Coimbra... do visit the country off of the beaten track too.. historical villages, aldeias de xisto (schist villages), the mountain ranges of central and northern Portugal... not only Serra da Estrela but also Lousã, Mira d'Aire e Candeeiros, Açor, Buçaco...
I love Portugal. I went there this summer of 2022 and will return in April 2023.
