Ferris Bueller's Day Off [The Hidden Meaning]
Фильм және анимация
Why do we love Ferris Bueller? Is it the great quotes? The escapism? Or is there something deeper?
First, Ferris Bueller's Day Off is actually about Cameron Frye. It isn't really about Ferris. Ferris is the mentor of the story. He acts as a savior to Cameron. Cameron is the one needing a day off. He is the unlikely hero of the story.

This movie is sooo good!! It’s so relatable! And so funny! I mean, I don’t understand how anyone could hate this movie.

some people see it as Ferris being a selfish bully who takes advantage of Cameron. Those people are nerds

The ladies sunbaking away from the sun The fact that Ferris Bueller is so ideal and Sloan so beautiful The whole city rallying behind Ferris with the gifts, water tower and stadium and the news paper with a Ferris Bueller title and a unrelated article Its a dream from Cameron coming to terms with his problems Its a dream Its Cameron coming to terms with his issues through a natural style of a dream a teen would have Even the post credit He's in his bed robe saying it's over The whole film is a dream Ferris is also a reference to a Ferris wheel Fun circle ⭕ of perfection Its a dream.

The part where Ferris said to Cameron "Come on, live a little" stuck to me because of Cameron's condition
There is a Sequel to this movie titled, 'Ferris Bueller's friend is murdered by his father'

Haha! Yes, it is a horror movie.
Considering the pool scene and the meaning behind the core character's names, do you think there is some kind of hidden significance with Ferris' girlfriend Sloane? Perhaps her name meaning is 'warrior' because she breaks out of the "prison". Although it was Ferris who did that for her.

I like your thinking. You may be on to something. I looked into that but didn't feel it was clear enough for me to include.
I always knew Ferris Bueller was among the greatest movies of all time but with so much going on its hard to summarise why. Thanks for summarising.

Thank you, Mr Anderson.
I also noticed a small romance between Cameron and Sloane.
Great summary! Everyone should have their own Ferris Bueller day at least one if not nine

@@MoralofthisStory 🥃thankyou Its been suggested for a while It is also without doubt a Love Letter to Chicago That painting we see later and the art gallery John Hughes would go there as a teen and a young man and was moved by that painting that Cameron sees Very telling isn't it? Also Ferris catching that fowl ball He is so lucky And after Cameron faces his problems and for the first time Ferris is in trouble trying not to get caught and dealing with the principal He uses his fowl ball to win Feeling Alive and making his own luck A dream and fantasy of Cameron turned to metaphor for life lesson
The meaning of the name "Ferris" relates to iron. It does not mean "rock". That being said, this was certainly an interesting perspective on this classic film.
First of all, awesome video. I love the way it's edited and all the small details you bring up.

Glad you liked it!
There is a strong argument that FBDO is just a dream of Cameron's - especially given the fantasy elements with the parade. I think the sub story of his sister and the principal make that less believable. What do they have to do with Cameron? I do think the baptism observation is spot on. I can't believe that never dawned on me.
John Hughes' best film.

Ferris reminds me of Tyler durdan in some ways
The movie is a fantasy comedy. We love it because we would all have loved to be like Ferris in High school. But if you want to take a serious look at it, Ferris is really a bad dude. In the original script, he steals money from his dad's safe to pay for the day. Taking the car is a real dik move that in real life would incur severe consequences for both him and Cameron. The way he lies so much to his parents is pretty bad.
This is amazing

@@MoralofthisStory 😁
- 3:00 what's an antagonist? No one uses that word in normal speak. Only people that talk about books and movies use that word. - Also, why do people sometimes use the word protagonist? What in the world does that mean?
@MoralofthisStory
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for calling me out on that! I have used and heard those words so much in my readings and associations that I forget they aren't 'normal speak'. The protagonist means the main character of the movie (often referred to as the hero - even if they aren't actually heroic) and the antagonist is the character that opposes the hero and tries to prevent them from achieving their goal (the 'bad guy'). Hope that helps!
