If you look at the angle of the exhaust when he takes them off, the gasses are pointing straight at suspension/rear wing components and possibly other stuff as the car isn't fully built up yet, without air passing over the car helping to cool these areas down, they would simply start to melt with the extreme heat, so they put these covers on which diverts the air up and away from everything.
Magnifique le son du v10 🇨🇵🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
To extend the pipes just long enough to keep the exhaust from cooking the rear wing. At speed it's not an issue as there is so much air passing the car. My guess anyways.
Beautiful.
that steering wheel is insane
Nicely spotted!!
Dit was echt ubervet!!! +1
I need to buy this cd!
Amazing.... thanks for upload!!!!
Ferrari F2003 V10? YES PLEASE 🤤
Bella! gracia
What a fucking TEASE!
che musica Regazzi... altro che questi asciugacapelli di adesso! !
I need one.
Engineers are high tech ROADIES prepping for the F1 ROCK STARS, This is kick ASS SHIT, Been in the pits for practice before. Hope Heaven is this Awesome!
@agentbb007 it's to channel the exhaust away from the uncovered parts of the car, because with no body panel on there is no heat shielding where there usually is which can damage parts.
automatically input "Hey there , I'm Driving F1 car right now!" on your own FB wall xD
For the heat
anzi già che ci penso il "rumore delle attuali F1 assomiglia al mio aspirapolvere il "folletto"
First F1 car Ive seen with wheel studs.
That is correct you can sea how hot the exhaust bevome's when the motor is started. The shape is changing because of the heat.
@agentbb007 More specifically, they do it so the mechanic standing behind the car putting the starter motor in through the back of the diffuser (F1 cars are not self-starting) doesn't get exhaust gasses in his face which can exceed 800 celsius.
I think those covers serve 2 purposes. For noise and temperature. It probably doesn't make THat much of sound difference in terms of muzzling it but having heard a hayabusa with short exhaust I know how loud something like that is so I can only imagine what this monster sounds like at idle. I truly think most people have no clue how advanced formula 1s are to the average car or even supercar this was uploaded 10 years ago but I'm sure that's a steering wheel from the 2000s Looks like they're in a small garage space maybe near a track and obviously you don't want to suffocate everyone there with the fumes so you would redirect it away from the work area and the body of the F1. and That steering wheel tho 😍 For sure the new ones look good since it's new and things advance but something about its simplicity although advanced at the time is highly satisfying.
Probably because the exhaust outlets point straight back, which is fine when you have airflow cooling everything around and behind them, but it's not ok when you don't. The heat risks damage to sensitive parts. Those metal things point the exhaust gasses up and away.
200% eargasm ..
i think theyre the handles for the airducts hoses so the exhaust fumes wont be inside but maybe they disconnected them.
For the heat cause by the exhaust
Salve, mi sapreste indicare l'ordine di accensione dei cilindri di questo motore?
that is so beautiful!! now formula 1 sucks!!

yeah.. i think, this one uses V10, the new f1 uses cranky V6
hey i got my own button
@agentbb007 I think they reduce the noise, maybe that's the reason why the guy on the right took them off when they turn off the engine.
The reason they are testing it without the wheels and engine cover on is because anyone who gets to be in there to test the steering wheel would not be able to resist.
looks like its to channel the exhaust gasses up and away from anyone that may be standing behind the car
What are the EBH and EBL options for? What do they do?
they reduce the exhaust flow to help get the engine up to temp.
I assume they're silencers for the exhaust?
@agentbb007 I bet its supposed to funnell the super hot exhaust gases up and away fro the computers and people behind. That's what it looks like to me.
those would be flash adjusters to eliminate the flames from the exhaust causing a fire hazard in the pit.
to divert the hot gasses, wich cook the suspensions ;)
I think they have those on the exhaust so that the raw unburnt fuel doesn't get on those ridiculously priced carbon brakes!
@AK99KAZ

tyler klassen that or it doesnt fry the electrical componets Besides the exaust pipes
@agentbb007 Looks like its handles so the mechanic dont burn himself, but i could be wrong
It appears they are there to re-route the exhaust gasses away from the rear suspension components when the bodywork is not in place.
Fuel Button request
That's just sick. Fuck me
To control the way the exhaust fumes go while in the garage maybe. Not sure what year this ferrari is, but past 4-5years exhaust has been aimed at bodywork to create more downforce. That stuff is superheated, so they probably dont want to overheat the car while in garage.
I guess its something adopted from those moded or bike performance exhaust which claim they give a good amount of boost in the power...
@agentbb007 to guide the exhaust gas higher and not straigt to the rear wing
It's kind of creppy to watch those exhaust attachments move :P
because of safety and temperature
@agentbb007 the cross-section narrows to a backwater is given
I think to not overheat the rear suspension... those pipes moves hot exaust up!
So long as Ecclestone don't turf it due to the sound of the engines. Which seems to be the major complaint. But I truly hope we see V6 Turbo'd again
so the hot gasses go up and don't destoy the other parts?
I imagine they are to redirect exhaust gasses from the rear wing?
@agentbb007 to direct the airflow of the exhaust.
@agentbb007 i think it might be a temporally muffler
No, they are just deflectors. When the car is moving the air flow will push the heat and flames away from the body. When stationery, any heat and flames will hit the rear wing..
They could be put there as a spark arrestor for the safety of the crew while they work on it?
Are those like temporary mufflers? It's bothering me. Someone must know.
the "metal things" are for the protection of the crew when the body isnt there.
where was that?
Flame arrestors
why did this video have to end?? :(
Help with flames?
maybe to redirect the very hot air coming from exhaust upwards instead of pointing it to them.
In fact, looking at the front wing design I'd say F2001 actually.
so they dont become deaf. Those are silencers for the exhaust
2:32 what is that for?
Feel free to check out my other channel: kzread.info/dron/pWbkO46F27dvq6FbIl3G4A.html for a great time!
@agentbb007 I really dont know :P
@mrchinkstonIII Press replay ;)
Why did they put those metal things over the exhaust?
I don't know... but I thought.. This metal, pushed the air (very hot) for up! Pay attention in the angle before and after... for not burn anyone behind... maybe, I really don't know... :D
What is that cover they put over the exhaust tip? Safety issue?

Yea what I have seen in the past are slip on mufflers/silencers just so it's not quite as loud in the garage. I suppose it may arrest some flame as well, but I know it does quiet them down a tick. These don't seem to have much of a silencer portion on them though.
@thaik56

Kevin Mort I guess so, silencer equals air flow restriction therefore less power, now nobody wants that in a racing car.
@cooliscool

It's purely to direct the hot exhaust away from the rear end components, which could melt without the cooling from the air as it's moving. They do nothing to quiet the noise; they're simply aluminum sheaths.

What do the exhaust deflectors do? Arrest spark or deflect the exhaust flow away feom the engine ?

Fuck you're stupid.
Hi.... In my opinion,,, pay attention the shape of this metal.... It's to avoid the heat of exhaust to burn accidentaly some area in this engine. Take a look at the end of the video. The shape of exhaust ....
Current F1 uses a "half-engine"...
Why didn't they wind it up a bit? Bummed.
@nonsense0233 ademas de hacer de arresta llamas!
THEY ARE PUT ON TO TAKE HEAT AWAY FROM ENGINE , COS ITS HOT
Meh, check out the red bull or lotus vids, they're LOUD
