@@David-ud9ju I see the anger and tension leave Kitty's face quickly by 1:20 during the ear work. The thing about mats like that is they continuously pull a circle of hair toward the center, so at any given moment just resting a bunch of individual hairs are getting pulled HARD. Moving around, or touching or worse bumping/pressing/tugging a mat relieves this tension on one side but multiplies it on the other. As soon as you cut one side of a mat's root hairs free, it's like a switch turning off for much the hard hair pulling sensation in that entire mat.

People love to say that a pet is "angry" when it's just stressed and uncomfortable and fear disguised as anger is their natural response in stressful situations. @@ltyrell405 I was looking for a comment like this, this cat is clearly terrified, especially of the blower. Work like this absolutely needs to be done, and from what it looks like this groomer is very gentle (or tries to be, cases like this are tough). It's hard being as small as a cat, even if this guy looks pretty big as far as cats go. Trying to be ferocious and perceived as a threat is a survival instinct, the more you look like work to hunt as prey, the less likely you are to be attacked. It's something humans have learned too, a recommendation for people who are getting abducted is to be as difficult as possible and fight as hard as you can, there's always a chance your attacker will decide you're just not worth the effort. Cats have the most delightful angry faces when they're in the astronaut helmet. Their cheeks get squished up and there's so much malice in that gaze it's really cute, even if I feel bad that they're terrified.

Great job! An older Ragdoll adopted me many years ago. She had a lot of mats that needed cutting out when she first visited, and a few in the early years, but now that she lets me brush her every couple of weeks that is enough to keep mats from forming. A cat tip is to keep your eyes partially closed, and stop and slow blink at them along with petting once in a while during the grooming or whatever chore they're not enjoying. This means "Chill and relaxed" in cat body language, and it's contagious. On the other hand, staring directly at them with eyes wide open means things like "I don't like you, I challenge you, I'm preparing to fight you!"
I’m sure your animals LOVE the “rage cage” and the “high velocity dryer” in their face with a hamster ball attached to their defense ability 😂😂

As long as they didn't crow like Roosters. We have a Rooster living around here, he escaped from somewhere and people feed him seeds and scraps and every day and night he crows, he's not too bad but I couldn't imagine 2 Roosters crowing.

I really really respect you for having a 'we can take breaks, we can end a session once the absolute necessary care has happened' take with your grooming. I always feel worried groomers are too pushy a s forceful to be efficient with what they're paid to do, even at the expense of the animals psychological comfort. Its so reassuring to see you prioritise that. I may not know cats very well but if a cat is real unhappy with something, it's no doubt very stressful for the poor guy, even if its a normal thing for us

There's definitely groomers that do prioritize finishing the groomer over the comfort of the animals. Sadly some of those groomers are incredibly well known on KZread. There's awesome groomers out there, but like every profession there's also bad.

@@KayosHybrid if you can look for a Fear Free or Low Stress Handling Certified groomer. Additional certification that gives your groomer extra skills to work in a Stress free manner. And ask lots and lots of questions about how they operate and ask other clients about their work. You often can get a feel from them. You CAN watch some groomers, some stream videos or have a visible grooming area or work in a truck that you can poke your head in. Some groomers will let you work with them depending on your pet's needs. One of my groomers let's me hold me pet for nail trim while I feed them so that nail trims become a positive thing.

I’m so glad to have a short haired cat!
Spicy Mayo has competition! 😂 I'm so sorry for the stressful groom! With no shade to the owners, hopefully they'll bring him in with shorter intervals so there's less work to be done before Reisling hits his limit 😊
I've run into my fair share of "spicy" cats like Reisling. In cases like those, you do what you can and call it. No sense risking something more serious for you or the cat! Well done, once again! I bought an astronaut muzzle just like yours because I saw how well it works.

I can safely say that he is one seriously grumpy cat 😾
And this was the last video ever posted to the channel. Riesling came back that night... revenge! he meowed. Some say if you listen closely you can still hear the words "grinch feet" when you pass the house.

Very grumpy looking cat!
When I was a kid, I had a pair of hockey gloves with genuine turtle shell inside protecting the thumbs and fingers. They were impervious to my cat's claws or teeth. Very handy when dealing with a cross kitty.

Poor cat nothing. The cat was “stressed” because he was having to do something he didn’t want to. And guess what, WE ALL have to do things we don’t want to do sometimes, it’s call get over it. He was not scared, he was annoyed and thought he was going to get his way by being an asshole and making her life as hard as possible.

@@JCArules13 I know it is not easy. I have 4 pet cats now and several stray cats I feed outside our house. I use gloves when I know I will be "attacked" by any of the cats that hate what I plan to do with them like brushing their fur, giving them meds, cleaning their wound, One stray cat hates being brushed (which he needs because he has issues with hair balls). It was so hard at first, but eventually, he was able to tolerate it. It has to start somewhere or the cat will never get used to it.
What a handsome boy😻 . A little feisty though😹
We had a large Maine Coon named Grendel since she was a little monster to everyone except my husband and me. As she got older, she could no longer clean her back end, and it got to the point where I would need to shave her sanitary area periodically, which was a nightmare to do. My husband and I would suit up and prepare for battle with a towel, elbow-length rubber gloves, a bag of treats, and, of course, the clippers. The worst part of it all was the white liquid from her anal glands that would leak out during the shave. It totally reeked, and if you got it and bare skin, it was tough to wash the smell away hence the elbow-length gloves. Although it was a battle to perform, we always won the war against dingleberries.

That part of cat ownership is hard, when you have to be assertive to clean their area or give them a pill or something even as they're clearly telling you "NO. STOP. DO NOT WANT." I wish there was some way to communicate to them that it's for their health and you're not just a big dumb ape who occasionally wraps them in a towel and makes them angry for your own sick amusement. It always makes me feel a little guilty.
