    Her core stability and everything else just seems so solid....then you see her zoom the last 15m and it is obvious that she is a beast and is just getting started. Sky's the limit!

    It's so inspiring to watch an elite athlete perform. At 21 (22 now?) she has at least 7-8 years to hone her craft. She's already just a step behind Sydney in the 400H, and might compete for international medals in the 400. She could probably do well in the 200, or perhaps even the 800, but doubt we'll see her focus on those. Plus, she just seems to be the most gracious and sweet person. What a gift to women's track!

    Bol makes her international mark in the 400m hurdles where she did a time of 52.03 in the recently completed Summer Olympics in Tokyo. However, I am of the view that she can also become a world beater in the 400m flat (not hurdles) by the time of the 2024 Paris Olympics or before. In Tokyo the Olympic bronze medallist ran a time 49.46: Bol just ran 50.72 in this indoor race. Outdoors her personal best is faster at 50.37 which she did in June 2021. If Bol begins to run more 400m flat races, I do believe she will do a sub 50 seconds before the end of this year. After that it will only be a matter of time before she begins to set world leading times in this flat event. She has all the qualities to make a great 400m runner: tall, relaxed, confident ,strong in endurance and fast!

    She has trouble judging pace and strategy in the outdoor flat 400. That is by her own admission. It is the reason she prefers 400 hurdles, since it's like 10 specific variables. Bol develops a goal for each hurdle and writes it down ahead of time. She prefers indoor 400 to outdoor flat 400 since indoor is more obvious...run 180 meters then cut across to inner lane and react to where your competitors are. Again, that's from her own words. Bol will occasionally run flat 400 and I agree she can break 50. But it won't be her primary event barring injury or something that prevents hurdling

    @@wastedcentury1805 It is so refreshing to read such an intelligent and knowledgeable analysis of Bol rather than just the one sentence comments! But here is another variable which may work against her running the 400m flat at competitive levels. I have not yet researched it but I plan to. Let us assume Bol progresses enough to run both the 400m and the 400mh at competitive levels. Do the organizers of these athletic events structure them far apart enough for Bol to run the qualifying heats / semi-finals and finals in both events without tiring herself out? Maybe it is best to concentrate internationally on just the 400mh and improve her hurdling techniques and only do the 400m flat occasionally and at those games where there is no hurdles event. I must confess though that I am really looking forward to the Diamond League races this year where she will most certainly compete with Sydney McLaughlin and Delilah Muhammad. I can’t wait!

    And also i think she doesn´t switch to flat because has more chances right now to beat Sydney (very difficult) than Shaunae (almost impossible right now)

    @@pepelopezcrecimientopersonal Shaunae Miller-Uibo won the 400m flat at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 in a time of 48.36 secs. She did 48.37 seconds at the World Championships at Doha in 2019 and came second. So she is consistently 2 seconds faster than Bol and that is a huge advantage. So I agree with you when you say that it is almost impossible for Bol to challenge Shaunae in this event. However, I do believe that as she masters her hurdling technique, she will shave more time off the 52.03 she did at on the Tokyo track. Sydney won in Tokyo with a world record time of 51.46 so Bol, given her progression in this event and her training commitment may just beat her in some of the preliminary 400mh races before the World Championships. As you indicated, it will be difficult, but it is possible!

    @@robertfowler507 as you said before, it seems that she still has the potential to improve in the next years, and if she continues with this amazing progression could be a very rare double queen in both 400, let´s see what happens, but of course will come exciting times with this magnificent runner, thanks for your answer, Robert.

    @Warwick Dun It's going to be tough for Dalilah. Femke and Sydney have been improving so much with almost every race. Dalilah did amazingly well last year to stay competitive, but improving at the rate they are at her stage in her career is a huge ask. There's always the possibility that Sydney has already reached somewhere near her peak, despite her young age, but Femke is still relatively new to 400mH and has a lot of room for improvement on her technique. It will definitely be interesting.

  • @Neofolis

    @Neofolis

    2 жыл бұрын

    @Warwick Dun I didn't mean to undersell her achievement. If anything, I think her achievements last year were even more outstanding than Sydney and Femke's, because she is that much further into her career, which would normally mean less room for improvement, because she's already had years honing her craft. That's also why I think it will be that much more difficult for her than the other two moving forwards. I'm not writing anyone off, I just think Sydney and particularly Femke are in a better position to improve from. That doesn't mean Dalilah can't improve or that the other two will improve.
