First of all, that K9 sucks. None of this had to happen if the first time she released the dog it had latched on to him and took him down. The dog wanted to play. Second, wtf were the officers doing trying to attempt to apprehend him? Go hands on! He's unarmed! Then she leaves her duty belt and gun laying on the ground and then engages him? I was a Deputy for 7 years on the Gulf Coast and I have never seen such a shit show.

My jaw literally dropped when she ran back to her duty belt for her gun…

What the F is this? How did her gun belt come off? One deputy sprayed himself, the Dog was playing game, handler not in control, far too much emotion, This is NOT how this is to be done. Wow...

She left her gun on the ground unattended, the male officer left the taser on the ground in reach of the suspect, the dog didn’t know whether he was coming or going, the black guy was told multiple times to get on the ground whilst he was on the ground, what a mess.

3 years training to become a police officer in the UK. If you want to be a specialist officer i.e.dog handler, firearms, riot control etc you need 2/3 years flawless service as a basic officer first and then have to first pass the application process and if that's granted then its months of specialised training which you need to pass or you'll stay a basic officer. I believe the average training in the States is around 18-20 weeks, after which they're then given a gun and granted qualified immunity. The result of those poor standards is evident from the first second of this video to the last. All officers here were rubbish but this woman is a joke. Stupid, foul mouthed, hyper aggressive and beyond unprofessional. The dog is the best officer there and even he wouldn't pass the the training standards required to serve in Britain. I saw on the news earlier this week half a dozen unarmed police officers in London detain a man in minutes that had attacked several people with a samurai sword killing a 14 y/o schoolboy and seriously wounding many more including two unarmed police officers that risked their lives to try and stop him with nothing but a taser and pepper spray. American citizens deserve much better than these clowns

It kind of feels like every US officer is unqualified these days with how many stories of them being bumbling paranoid trigger happy buffoons I see. I can't go one day without seeing an article about them shooting up their own car (with a suspect inside it) because an acorn fell on it, entire squads sitting outside of a shooting because they're too scared to take the gunman on, officers nearly blowing their own hands off because they don't know the first thing about gun safety, and other sorts of news that makes you wonder if there's any training in the police academy beyond point and shoot. I presume this is at least somewhat caused by stories of police incompetence and corruption being more compelling than "police officer does his job perfectly with no errors" but even then they still have a concerning amount of material to work with. Might also have to do with police unions preventing incompetent or morally dubious officers from being properly dealt with but I wouldn't know enough about how things actually work behind the scenes to be certain. Whatever is causing it the problem is certainly real and I think some measures need to be taken to better filter out people who are clearly not mentally, physically, or emotionally strong enough to actually perform this job.

The handler is definitely appalling and should not be in charge of a a police K9 however a simple call back should be immediate with a well trained police K9. For a domestic dog you wouldn't call back as she did and expect a dog to listen but this isn't any old K9... they should be trained for high pressure call backs, I would think. Still can't believe the gun in the gunbelt that fell off and left unattended with the offender still on the loose!!!

The guy didn't even seem threatening and the dog likely picked up on that. The dog only bit him when he was aggressive on the ground after all. I've seen plenty of police dogs not go after people that weren't threatening and actually bite aggressive cops.

Thats kind of a very common thing with the way they train dogs. They train with people wearing big baggy suits the dogs can bite in to. So the dogs are not trained or used at all to going for body bites. They tend to go for clothes and such...Which usually helps a lot to decentralize the subject and make them freak out, but this guy was ready for it.

Threatening to kill someone as a officer wow I’ve seen it all

The female is "one of the bad ones" that needs to go through thorough investigation. She didn't do a single thing correctly, and her incompetence and wild emotions resulted in her shooting a man out of spite. I in no way condone the criminal's actions, but that doesn't give the officer the right to act like a violent thug.

After contact by officers, Guess drove away from the scene. On GA Hwy 122, in the Cogdell community, Guess rammed a Clinch County deputy’s vehicle. When the vehicles came to a stop, Thornton ran from the scene. Officers attempted to take Guess into custody. Guess was tased several times; however, it was ineffective. At one point, Guess obtained one of the officer’s tasers and tased another officer. Guess was shot by the Homerville PD officer that was tased. Guess was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

So what do you mean wait until he gets a cop's gun, you can't shoot someone because they might attempt to grab a gun, if you could then you could shoot anyone at any time because they "might" get a gun and go on a killing spree. And before you say he was not near the gun, he was not near the taser at one point and the police could not handle him. You sound like the idiot that says the police should not be ready in case of anything but then again today in Georgia another officer was shot on a simple traffic stop

I'm a retired police officer of over 21 years and 16.5 of that as a K9 handler. If I focus only on the K9 handler and her partner, I'd have to say that this might be the worst example of K9 work and the best example of incompetence that I have ever witnessed on the street. Both of them have to be pulled off the street immediately. Whoever trained these two needs to be sued immediately. Another trainer has to be chosen if you're going to consider putting them back out there again. Both of them are an absolute disaster. And that is just from a K9 perspective. The department, the officers/deputies that were involved in this are completely incompetent as well and from an officer safety standpoint, neither of them should be on the street at all. I saw several points in the video with serious crossfire issues and that male officer/deputy was completely clueless. I don't even know where to begin with these two.

I knew right from the start. Seeing a handcuffed man get out of a civilian truck was a dead giveaway of how much of a fuck up this department was. What makes me mad is this is how good cops get grouped together with bad cops, she imo deserves jail time for this especially intentionally shooting the man’s leg. You could see she thought about it pointed and squeezed. Moral of story what NOT to do as a officer.

After detaining the innocent civilian these deluded people posing as police officers took the poor man back to the woman's treehouse where they all had a tea party.

First cop video out of hundreds I've watched where the OFFICER says, "I can't breathe!" and this from running a short distance. Department needs to let this woman GO before she costs local taxpayers huge bucks in lawsuits!

One deputy sprayed himself, the Dog was playing games, handler not in control, far too much emotional screaming at everyone without commanding any actual authority. And her partner was useless. Welcome to defund the police. This is what happens when you slice the police budget. Zero funding for training for the humans and the K9. Defunding the police only made the police car more dangerous now that proper training has been disposed of. Thanks to all the fools who supported defund the police. Also, the biggest impact of defund the police was a huge increase in all crimes in the poorer areas which are proportionally minorities. It’s just interesting that blacks were the biggest supporters of defund the police, but now that robbery, assaults, & murders have dramatically increased especially in their areas of town, it is now the same black people demanding that the Mayor of Oakland and other cities step down for this insane crime wave which is due to defund the police. It is upsetting that these people can vote. It’s like they never consider the consequences of their actions.

I train detection/bite dogs and handlers as a team for numerous PD's. This handler has no business being a handler. Her dog does not take her handler seriously and has no obedience to the handler. This is a dangerous situation for a bite dog.

When your entire department spends more time drinking beers than training or learning empty handed skills. I'd also bet this entire department went to school together and none of them have done a legit physical fitness regimen since high school. Unbelievably unprofessional and shockingly ineffective. The head of this department should be ashamed and fired for allowing this level of incompetence.

Prime example of why women should not be in the police force or military.

Unfortunately as of 2023 this department has only managed to get worse. Their chief was fired earlier this year due to mishandling evidence and other issues, which apparently made the entire staff throw a tantrum. They all walked out, but not before stealing things like keys and a dog from the dept, messing with the vehicles to kill the radios and car batteries, just leaving overall chaos. An interim chief was put into place and only four months later he resigned, stating that there were multiple investigations into misconduct(Wouldn't expect that from a PD that the GBI investigated and removed the previous chief for misconduct, how crazy!) within the dept, as well as issues with city officials. They replaced that interim chief and the last few months nothing has been reported, but it sounds like the entire system in Homerville needs to be looked at and completely redone.
