I fell all the burning snags for the Gov. and for the province of BC before they would allow fire fighters in to fight fire. This was in the Revelstoke area where there are still 6- 7 feet at the butt Red Cedar and huge Douglas Fir, I made money back then cool job

The wildfire appeared to have a nice air tunnel dug for it under the roots. Very interesting situation. No fire evidence I could see anywhere around the tree. Just the tree.

That air tunnel was one of the trees major roots. It burned out, creating a nice air tunnel to feed fire into the tree.

@@AndreRMeyer now that I see it on a computer screennow it definitely wasn't a conventional bore cut but it did have components of one. Bore cut. That is when you cut your notch into the tree and then instead of doing a conventional back cut you bore through the tree, finish your hinge and cut from the inside out to finish your back cut. You can do a partial conventional back cut which allows you to put wedges in to keep the tree from sitting back on your cut. It is a good cut to know for trees that's are at risk of barber chairing.

@@Rebecca-1111old trees often have large hollows on the inside a tiny ember blown for miles can land and set the center on fire. We fill the tree up with water/foam in he UK and fell it once it's out this looks intense...
