I worked night audit for a long time in Wichita. On this one corner were 2 “Scmarriott” properties (same owner and manager, so I bounced back and forth between them). After a few years, a "Tilton" property was built right next to them. All 3 properties were smaller brands so during 3rd shift, the auditor was the ONLY employee there. While at the “Schmarriott” properties, I’d become accustomed to calling and talking to my coworker at the other one: needing change for the cash drawer, out of paper, low on coffee, etc but we also would share the gossip and definitely call each other if something sketchy was going on in the area or there was a security threat. (We're actually still friends) Years later, I worked at the "Tilton" property and maintained that same relationship with the "Schmariott" properties (minus the resource sharing since they were not the same ownership). Different people worked there by that time, but we'd call and alert each others of what was going on and share some gossip.

I worked at a breakfast bar for a hot minute, and 70% of the people staying would leave to work on a construction site by 6 am, which is when we technically opened. During that time, the establishment and I thought it would be nice to open an hour early so these guys could get a good breakfast, and they were all so kind for us being so accommodating. One morning, a man (not one of the workers) came down in his whity-tighties. Everyone got quiet, and I missed him coming in because I was in the back. I thought it was a little strange, so I walked out, and all eyes were on this oblivious man. No joke, as he was picking up sausage links, I walked over to him and asked him if he could take what he got back to his room and that once he had more clothes on, he was welcome to come back. He began to argue, and all my construction buddies stepped in and told this man to get out. What he was doing wasn't okay. He yelled all the way back to his room, “I got up early so kids wouldn't see me; these grown** people know what a man's body looks like.” Those construction workers were my heroes that day!

I was that guest one time. I was at a nicer hotel, it was the middle of the night (2-3am), everyone in my room was asleep and I had HORRENDOUS food poisoning. The toilet, which didn't flush well, got clogged. I was desperate. I held it together long enough to go down to the front desk in my pajamas. Nothing revealing. I politely explained my situation and asked for a plunger. I would correct the issue myself. The front desk people were so rude. Fussed me for clogging the toilet, fussed me for coming down in the middle of the night and then fussed me for being in my pjs in a nice hotel. I was almost in tears, so I just went back to my room. They told me maintenance would bring a plunger up. 20 minutes later and ungodly things done to the tub bc of a lack of toilet, I go back to the front desk and the plunger was there. Maintenance refused to bring it to me since i was sick. I never stayed there again.

I'm so sorry to read that! It's absolutely awful, how can you behave like this with a sick guest? I would have offered to call for a doctor and the maintenance should have worn gloves and masks. Food poisoning is terrible, you're already so sick and anxious from the vomiting and you have to deal with inhumane individuals. The morale of the story: always have food poisoning medication ready when you travel... and be empathetic to people when they're sick.

She worked the night shift and if it fell between Friday- Sunday the hotel got a free bouncer and security gaurd to deal with the drunks. I was working nights as a Welder to but my schedule was 12 hours Monday-Thursday. Rarely had a problem though. Mostly happy drunks and funny stories and I just watched TV in the lobby all night or read a book. Only one incident with a shoplifter flee police frome the Wal-Mart across the street. I was smoking a cigarette outside and tripped him and the cops were on him in seconds.

The hotel I work at ALLOWS guests to move all the furniture in the lobby (they are mostly college kid parents who pay out of state tuition). We are the conference center for the school and the parents will literally make themselves at home, going as far as taking down decor and moving it. As a night audit in charge of cleaning the lobby......I despise these people. 😅

One time my sister and I were staying at a hotel near our parents, and they brought take-out food over. It turned out the lobby was the most comfortable place for us to all sit and eat together, so we ended up moving some furniture around. But when we were finished, we damn well cleaned up our crumbs and trash, and put everything back where we found it! I don't understand people who make a mess in a public place and don't clean up after themselves.

I remember back when we were kids, my family was on holiday at a hotel near the beach. My brothers and dad had gone for a swim before breakfast, and my little brother decided to come to breakfast in his swimming costume and towel. My dad didn't say anything, but I told him to get changed and he said no. Luckily he got the hint a few minutes later when other guests were glaring at him

We have a frequent business traveller who comes a few times a year for a couple weeks at a time. Really nice dude but he treats the lobby like it's his living room, it's not unusual to see him wandering barefoot or stretched out on one of the couches reading a book for several hours.

😂 This reminds me of a time at a restaurant I used to work at. The restaurant was attached to a hotel, and one morning, we had a couple come in inquiring as to how much the breakfast buffet was. At this time, they were attired in pajamas, and what they were wearing looked like pajamas, not lounge wear, which they probably could have gotten away with. Thinking they were just checking the price,I told them, thinking they were going back to their room to get changed and come back in a while, but no, they said they wanted a table for two!🙄🤦‍♀️Luckily, the manager was there by this point, and politely informed them that they would have to go change, as their attire was not suitable for the restaurant.😂 To be fair, they were from a different country(I don't remember exactly where)-Maybe in their country that would have been acceptable?🤷‍♀️

The male manager asked me to speak with the new sales girl because he was afraid of backlash for telling her she looked like a corner girl and that he honestly didn't know how to tell her to bring down her skirt line and cover her girls up. 😂😂😂 so he opted to ask the only other woman on the sales floor to do it 😂😂😂😂 I told him I didn't get paid enough to mother her.
