FCTR: Equalization Part 1 - Understanding Frequency

Equalization, or EQ, is just about the most important topic where amplified tone is concerned. Understanding how to use it first requires a knowledge of frequency, amplitude and bandwidth. In Part 1 of this two part edition on EQ, Matt explains how the frequencies emitted by our instrument add up to what we perceive as different kinds of sound.
If you are familiar with the concepts of frequency and would like to go straight to learning how to apply EQ to your instrument on stage or in the studio, check out Part 2: • FCTR: EQ Part 2 - Appl...

yeah. i´ve seen at least two dozen vids on EQ. This one is Basic, BUT it ´s also plain PERFECT as an introduction to an ohterwise more often than not "mystified" topic^^! Damn good job!

Many thanks! I found the terminology you used to identify the different frequency ranges really useful. In the past I've mostly just identified 2.7K as the "hurt frequency"

Hi Matt - quite complicated for me. What does it mean when I am tuned to concert pitch if only A string at 440 hz? What is difference between out of pitch and out of tune - for example a single string needs adjusting?

Goodness!! So helpful! I have been mixing my own videos for years, but I'm still learning the jargon. EQ is something I'm trying to grasp still...I kind of have a handle on it bur I always want to improve. I currently have someone who masters my videos but one day i wish to do it all. My channel is pretty nerdy...video game and anime music.
