I'm 65 (as of June 9), and in early April 2024, I bought a Yamaha sv-200 electric violin, and it is my first violin. Did I make a wise choice?

Hey thanks so much for responding to this question. I really appreciate it. The only other person I could ask was my violin teacher, but I don’t see him much anymore. I have already began making my recordings better by finding the right mic position. All of this will combine to one day create near professional audio recordings. I will make sure to take your advice in the future.

Don't Fret. Vivaldi can help your screechy notes.
@ElectricViolinShop2 күн бұрын
Vivaldi didn’t really write much in screech land. One, the fingerboards of his day didn’t go up very high. Two, they were playing on gut strings (which, I guess, has its own screech…). Three, they were tuned down at least a half step from where we tune today.

Cardioid rather than narrow? We found SM57 way too sensitive to position. A Cardioid was much better. We used a Rode. What about electret vs condenser vs dynamic vs ribbon?

You know who does A LOT of work there? Ian Cooper. I would definitely look him up on the socials if you're curious about different mics on violin.
