Effects for Violin Series - Week 8 - Wah with Rudolf Haken
Музыка
The violin, viola, or cello bow is an incredibly expressive tool. We can create a seemingly infinite number of colors and textures with our bow.
The Wah Pedal is nearly equally expressive. In combination with a bow, the artistic possibilities are endless.
What is a wah pedal? How does it work? How do I turn it on? Where should it go in my signal chain? How should I use it? What are some common mistakes?
We answer all these questions and more.

Thanks for linking me this video! Love your content!😁
Great video and content Matt. Everything you say and demonstrate is the same as my experiences with Wah and electric violin. I mostly use auto-wah effects instead of foot pedals. Just because that let me control the wah effect with the bow pressure instead of having to use my foot. I am not very good at multi-tasking with several parts of my body 😅. I find auto-wah very useful doing exactly what i want, as long as I carefully adjust the effect pots, especially the sensitivity so I get the "sweet spot" of the wah-effect matching my volume and bow-pressure perfectly. I often use Wah together with horn players, the violin seem to blend in better with their sound good if I use wah. But, as you say, use the wah-effect sparsly, not all over the songs.
Awesome series. Loving it. Thank you. What are your thoughts on the Boss Gt-1000 core for electric violin.

And do you need a gain structure or compressor added before to this unit? Or is this built in?

Boss pedals work great on violin. Yes, the GT1000 Core does have a wah pedal. You just need to buy an external expression pedal and configure it.
