Fathers and Sons | The Case of Trey Zwicker

Ойын-сауық

Trey Zwicker lived in Louisville in 2012. When something happened to him the investigation began, and over time both Trey Zwicker's stepfather, Josh Gouker, and his stepbrother, Josh Young, would claim responsibility. But were they covering for each other, and what really happened to Trey Zwicker?

I live in Louisville. This happened within miles of where I grew up. It was devastating and an absolute shit show. Young was on the news all the time noticeably on drugs, acting a fool, getting arrested, and never making any sense when he spoke. The blame was constantly shifting back and forth between him and the father. Literally, him on the news confessing to doing it and bragging that there was nothing they could do about it now because he had been acquitted. It went back and forth so often, you couldn't have kept count. I think that was the plan the whole time. But they were dumb to think he'd be released from prison as soon as Young confessed to acting alone. It's obvious they both did it....just don't know if they were together during the killing or Gouker went to do other things for an alibi while Young actually killed Trey. Also, maybe not so much in Louisville, but the rest of Kentucky does live up to all the crazy clichés. We DO wear shoes, but the cousin thing is 100% real. If you're not in cahoots with your cousin, you know someone that is! It's unbelievable! 🤢🤮

I think the dad encouraged the son to do it. When the son was asked if his dad put him up to it he said “absolutely not. If anything, he would have instructed me to never do that”. Statement analysis would have several red flags with this; its a yes or no answer but he feels the need to qualify and convince. The dad’s attitude in court when his son is on trial is very flippant, and his body and verbal language (to me) suggests that he is NOT the killer but is just taking the blame.

Yeah, but no wonder though. Imagine taking the fall for your son, get life in prison with hope that your son will have a brighter future, then after all that your son is an ungrateful little shit who is destined to end up in jail anyway. In hindsight he should have been made to face the consequences of what he did, at least he wouldn't have been tormented by guilt for the rest of his life and maybe not lead such a disastrous life. But wtf do I know

I had a Welsh friend years ago whom I met while an exchange student in the UK who later became a highly regarded industrial designer. A few years ago I did an internet search just to see if I could find out what happened to him in the intervening decades. The wiki was quite extensive (because of his well-known design work) and there in the personal life section it mentioned that his parents were first cousins. In the US, it's interesting that states that are stereotyped as "kissing cousins" states prohibit marriage between first cousins (such as Alabama and Kentucky, for instance) while states that you would think would prohibit it, in fact, don't (it's legal for first cousins to marry in California, Hawaii, and Connecticut, for instance).

I personally know many people who are amazing parents and their kids have issues, but this case is different and it's clear the dad had a major influence on the child. In no way was I saying that if a kid has a problem it's because of bad parenting. I meant that your actions teach your kids more than anything you will ever say to them. You can talk till you're blue in the face, telling your kid right from wrong, but if you're not living that your words are a waste of breath. Lecturing means little, being a good role model means everything. This boy was doing fine until his dad got out of jail and started being a terrible role model, that's all it took. If you're a bad person and your kids see that you're doing them a terrible disservice and this case is a perfect example of that. Lead by example

It was a plan to keep them both out of jail. Gouker would plead guilty, Josh would get acquitted, and then they would say Josh killed Trey. The state wouldn’t be able to charge Josh for the murder again, and they thought Gouker would be let out of jail. But, part of the plea deal Gouker agreed to was he could not file an appeal.

I was, unfortunately, in Louisville Metro Corrections (jail) at the same time as Josh Young was in there and IN THE SAME ROOM. It was when he stole some girl's car, well after the murder. The punk would not stop talking and everything he said was a boast to prove how bad he was to these grown men convicts. It was sad and really fucking annoying. It was a holding cell, about thirty of us in there. And his cot was two away from mine. I just wanted to sleep until I could get out but, no, he ran his mouth NONSTOP. I finally got out after three days. Seemed like three years.

Uncle Ho when an embryo is aborted, it has no brains. If a person is braindead, even if every single other cell in their body works fine, they’re gone. And I’m not talking coma which is completely different. Without a brain our flesh may survive on a machine, but we won’t be there. That’s why I believe sn embryo or even a foetus is not there with a mind when it has no brain. It will only be tissue and reflexes (if it can even have electric pulses yet depending on the stage).

  • @cats1970

Uncle Ho If I’m on life support while fully braindead and someone was to run in and pull the plug, it would be several things. It would rob my family of the planned way to say goodbye (like cremating a planned to be buried person would). It would rob any receivers of my donated organs of their best chance of survival. But it would not rob me of my life, because I was already dead. A heart beats when we pump electric salt water through it. That doesn’t mean it’s alive. I would already be gone, so from my eyes the crime would be closer to desecration of a corpse or bodily harm through damaging donated organs. No one has ever woken up from being braindead. It is irreversible death of the brain and the person is no longer there.
