The Case of the Hillside Strangler

Ойын-сауық

Angelo Buono and Kenneth Bianchi were two bad boys up to no good in the hillsides of Los Angeles. In the late 70's, many bodies were found, and authorities thought this the work of one man, they dubbed 'The Hillside Strangler'. They were wrong, but would only find out when one got careless.
Huge thank you to Anna Schiera for travelling all over LA to film!

    Oh my gosh, so frustrating. But at the same time, I'm sure that neighbor feels absolutely awful after she heard the outcome. And at least she spoke up at that point! Imagine having a bad day, got in a squabble with your partner, your boss had been an asshole, or you had a migraine or whatever. You look outside and see a girl arguing and think she's probably just squabbling with her boyfriend. Think nothing else of it and go to bed. Then the next day her parents ask if you've seen anything and you slowly realize that yeah.... You did actually... Only to find out later she was kidnapped by murdering, torturous, rapists. I'd never be able to forgive myself for that. So yeah, I'm pissed IF she never made a call to anyone. But also feel for her. I know when I have a bad day, I'm quick to block everything else out. I'm gonna try really hard not to do that anymore.

    @@staceyann1180 You're probably right about that. She might have contemplated calling 911 but made a huge mistake and found it to be exaggerated. Still, the way they described it I feel like 99% would have found it not to be exaggerated, but to be necessary to call the cops immediately. I mean... they grab a screaming woman and speed off, what is that if not what it seems to be?!

    @Pushy Phoenix That's interesting! I figured it was so high because, given all the forensic technology police have today, would-be serial killers are caught before they can kill more than one or two people. And that the reason there didn't seem to be many SKs before then was due to the inverse: the _lack_ of technology capable of linking different crimes together, pointing to a single murderer. But your theory is more interesting!

  • @PushyPushyPhoenix

    @PushyPushyPhoenix

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@kingayy9267 That's also a great theory, and no reason why they can't coexist. What's more, it could very well be that a proliferation of serial killers helped drive the improvements in investigative techniques etc. that now catch people in the earlier stages. In which case, lead paint wins either way! 😜 It's not my theory though; I'm sure I read it somewhere. Now even more curious, I'm going to do some digging and try to find a source. ♥️🍍

Related searches include "lead-crime hypothesis debunked", which brings up many of the same resources, so presumably they come at it from both sides. Unfortunately I don't know what to search to pursue your theory, and if I start trying (and reading these results) I won't do anything else all night, so hopefully that helps anyone who sees this and wants to do further research. ♥️🍍

I've been accused of fabrication when using "big words" and it's ridiculous. Just because you speak only in one-syllable, everyday language doesn't mean some of us don't have extended vocabularies, and use them, too, in everyday speech. I don't know where that silly notion started, but it's utterly ridiculous that using "big words" is some sort of Litmus test for lying.

    Yeah absolutely will blame her. My parents used to live in a neighborhood opposite an elderly lady who was almost 90. One day she called up the police and my mom (it was common to swap phone numbers among neighbors, back then at least) to tell them that she had seen a suspicious-looking moving company enter the house of a neighbor who was directly adjacent to our house, even though the neighbor's house was empty. Turns out they were burglars running a fake moving company, and fortunately they were arrested and the stolen stuff was returned. So yeah, being old isn't an excuse to look the other way when something fishy's afoot.

And then in 1991 Jack Unterweger did a ride along with the LAPD through the red light district (to help with "research" for his reporting on crime that would cover his future murders) where he ended up picking up his American victims. The case of "The Hillside Strangler" is one of those cases that anyone interested in true crime has heard of and is aware how chilling that time was for women . The 9 year old boy that comes up on a 12yr. and a 14yr. girls dead bodies .....is that even possible to get over ? I remember when I was 6yr. and found a dead kitten hanging by a long rope hanging from a tree ; that happened more than 4 decades ago and I it still has a deep effect on me. I am at a loss for words over the victims death ( all of them ) ; no one deserves anything like that to happen to them . My thoughts still can't help but wonder just how that little 9yr. boy is doing . Did he get any psychological help ? I can't imagine he would just walk up on a scene like that looking through trash and be fine about it . If he is still alive ( that was awhile back ) I hope he is living his best life . Much appreciation to you Mike for making your videos here with a touch of humor that is needed added with respect to the victims ....that is a rare quality .
