The son and I were messing around last night, recording tons of videos, streaming, etc. We ended up in some interesting corners of KZread but it was a blast!!

If you go to their concert, the audience usually head banging mathematically with a computer for counting time signature 😜😁

Dream Theater is a band full of wizards
For anyone reading, Dream Theater have plenty of songs with long sections you can headbang to. The issue is that people who tend to react to their stuff pick all the same songs that other people react to... which is the crazy all over the place stuff. They switch stuff up a lot but not *every* song has the insane Instrumental sections.
I don't know how they do it. They're incredible. Period.

Absolutely!!
Extremely well planned and timed and intentional... I wouldn't call that scattered exactly.
can totally headbang to this, just need to listen to it a bunch to get used to the timings!
For something a little more "handbanging" you may check out Answering the Call" off of there newest album. Pretty badass track and a very impressive record. Enjoyed the reaction! Keep up the Dream Theater videos!
You peeked. the keyboard player graduated from Juliard. The drummer was a professor at Berklee School.

The rest of them, not including the vocalist, went to Berklee College of Music in Boston. The drummer was a professor at Berklee. They are all from Long Island except for vocalist who is from Canada.

Hai im from indonesia and i am big fan of dream theater... highly recommend for you at breaking fourth wall live in concert - breaking all illusion - shattered fortress - illumination theory Thanks
Do As i Am if you want a slightly more straight ahead headbanger ;)
The woman in the video Rammstein - Deutschland symbolizes Germany.. She is the Mother like in Motherland/Justice and if you notice it it is the other characters in history who exploits here... sometimes she is evil and other times she is good or a victim. She is a bit like liberty / Justice
There's an entire concept album you should react. It's basically a theatrical piece. "The Astonishing" Think you will love it.

Hey guys, loved your quite typical dumbfoundedness at these guys. I feel that by listening to this and dance of eternity you have had a slight misrepresentation of the Band - there are many ballads and normal metal songs, albeit usually with many technical twists. DT has made some boring beautiful songs and, like this one, some clinical badassery. However, there are also many gems that can be considered beautiful badassery. Try listening to one of their 20+ minute songs or just go for "breaking all illusions" - that one is a crowd pleaser
They are from NY.
what's so difficult? It's just 7/8 4/4 6/8 7/8 4/4 4/4 3/4 9/8 6/6 6/6 7/6 9/8 4/4 ... wait... I messed up lemme start over...

@@HistoryBuff its a technicality, but to me metal is different than rock.... since its hard to rock to 88 different time signatures.
