@@furiousdestroyah9999 He basically was the reason for Shirou's ideal. A man so happy to save a child he cried, for a child Shirou who lost his memory and acquired his trauma, that smile was the first thing he witnessed and became sort of reminder why he wants to save others even at expense of himself and why he adopted Hero of Justice ideology in the first place Didn't help the fact that Kiritsugu accidentally revealed his dream to young impressionable Shirou and then straight up died in front of him
I enjoy that Kiritsugu's a well-written and tragic example of someone who is so broken that he was never able to actually mature. He drapes himself in the trappings of someone he thinks is mature, but he's ultimately a child. His only relationships are with his extremely sheltered and functionally enslaved wife and some woman who does whatever he says. He takes petty jabs at his servant and practically gloats to his disgusted allies about how cruel and hardened he is. He can't think of a single real way to solve the world's problems, so he puts all of his hope on a wish from ambiguous artifact. He could just bind Kayneth with scroll to anything he wants, like never ever participate in Grail War and leave Japan as soon as possible but instead he decides to kill two disabled people who can't possibly hurt him even if they wanted to, just because. He refuses to work and speak with his servant just out of sheer dislike His methods while most of the time logical are just gruesome and Kiritsugu just doesn't want to find other ways even if the results will end up better, because he just doesn't believe in other ways. He's like a an edgy teenager, who never grew out of his phase because of his trauma. And I love his character so much for that

To be fair even if he let them live there is always a small chance that they could return to seek revenge (you know how petty El-mellon is). He may do a lot of questionable things but at the end of the day he's right, chivalry is nothing but a simple coping mechanism for the people to make sense out of senseless violence and there is no other way to stop all conflict besides for the holy grail (honestly I don't really remember what Kiritsugu's wish was, something like to make it so that nobody would need to cry or something right?)
@shirouemiya143

@@pleasehelp1390 I mean Kerry is basically a manchild. Even Shirou calls him that in VN. People just view him differently even though the point of his character arc is that Kiritsugu methods and ideals are pure trash and Angra and Kirei showed him that Same with Kariya. Zero's Writer literally stated in the interview that he wrote him as a Nice Guy figure and was surprised that people loved him that much
@shirouemiya143

@@furiousdestroyah9999 Except he literally had a contract that can forever bind and prohibit them from doing any of it. It's an indestructible agreement and if you break it your fate will be death or something worse. Kerry literally held all the cards, he could have demanded anything from Kayneth including a term of not seeking revenge against him. He could make it so Kayneth wouldn't be able to do anything to him and still let him live. Kerry still chose to murder him in cold blood even though he had other options. And well chivalry argument is dumb in itself first because Saber shouldn't be chivalrous in the first place, she literally sacrificed her own villages, but Zero don't care about it. Secondly most violence isn't senseless, it has many reasons starting with needing resources and ending with defending your homeland. And third, well, Chivalry is a code that actually restricts violence somewhat proclaiming some violent acts dishonorable. That if you take it seriously. Where some people rape women and murder children and slaughter innocents after conquering a village, Knight wouldn't do it because of his code, thus creating less violence. Honor and Glory, Hope, Chivalry, Justice aren't coping mechanisms but more like motivations for people going to war. Kiritsugu just finds it rage inducing because all those ideals remind him of his childhood where he wanted to be a hero and his trauma from that And well as for conflicts. Kirei already pointed out that conflict is a part of human nature, you can't erase it without brainwashing or killing humanity. Kiritsugu wish was basically world peace but Grail wouldn't grant him that even if it wasn't corrupt, because Kerry needs to know how to do it for Grail to perform it. Kiritsugu didn't know the answer so he counted that Grail would make some miracle but without instruction from him Grail wouldn't do anything. The only answer Kerry knew was killing so Grail offered him to kill everyone

The subtitles where you are watching the show are a bit worse than the most common version, like in this episode where Saber says "Even if they gave up their lives, they did so by following human laws and ideals" she's actually meant to say "Even the act of taking a life, as a human act, must follow certain laws and principles."

Since many people seems to hate Kayneth, he actually not that bad of a person. He's arrogant as hell, but he's quite a decent guy (by magus standard at least) He have great deal of animosity toward his servant, diarmuid, since he saw his servant's past in his dream, and Diarmuid is known for taking away his leader fiancée in his past life. That's why Kayneth afraid that Diarmuid is going to do the same thing again. His fiancee, Sola Ui, might be a terrible woman, but Kayneth do love her (though it's one sided. Sola never love him), and when Sola betrayed him, he thought that Diarmuid is the one that set her up to do that, that's why he's really antagonized him

nah he is a jerk, because of his arrogance he treated everyone around him like trash and once he got his ass beaten by Kiritsugu he began coming up with excuses and blamed everything on his servant when in reality it is solely his stupidity that led to him getting crippled. Maybe he was afraid that lancer would seduce his fiancé but that has nothing to do with all the bad things that actually happened so it does not justify him blaming lancer every time he lost. As if that wasn't enough, he was such a simp for Sola Ui that he let himself get played in such a cheap way. She literally threatened to cut off his arm and he still loved her? At that point it feels like she could just keep him as a pet instead of a fiancé and he would not resist. Such arrogance and yet he kept proving himself as this shows greatest looser every time he appeared on the screen.

Жыл бұрын
@@isorstho7378 He is a flawed character, weak willed and arrogant but he's not completely bad, which like the other characters in Fate/Zero gives him a lot of depth. Kayneth is an excellent mage whose overconfidence is his weakness, and unused to the real world outside of the Clock Tower - a real world parallel is someone who is academically brilliant but lacking in real world knowledge. This is both true in terms of how to fight as well as his ability to deal with emotions and loss. He blaming Lancer and shooting the priest is a reaction to his own losses and mistakes. Yet at the end he's not enough of a monster to sacrifice another defenceless human - even a human who was willing to betray him - for one last shot at the grail. He's able to pull himself back from the brink. A sympathetic interpretation would compare the look on his face as he holds onto Sola-Ui to Kiritsugu's joy when he saves Shirou at the end of the series, that at least out of the disaster he was able to save something. It's also a comparison to Kiritsugu - Kayneth, despite his asshole status, couldn't bring himself to sacrifice a life right in front of him, when Kiritsugu was willing at that point to go all the way.
My favorite anime ever, the one that taught me the most, I think Kiritsugu is one of the most beautiful characters ever created in anime, he has an incredible personality and characterization, if you can react to the first and second ending and the OST's, they are so beautiful. Btw the second season of Fate Zero is crazy as fuck, for example the back storytelling of Kiritsugu, goosebumps.
Kayneth : *"YOU AGREED TO STAY AWAY..."* kiritsugu : "I lied.."
Kayneth is probably the most misunderstood character in fate
I was shook after this ep.. Like what the hell am I watching. This episode made me realise this isn't a show just about great animation and fight sequences. .
Diarmuid has a curse on his face (the mole) where any woman who looks at him without magical protection will automatically fall in love with him, that's why Sola-Ui was so into him, it's because of the curse. Diarmuid and Kayneth both know this, in fact the entire reason Diarmuid was killed in his original timeline was because he (unintentionally) stole the fiance of his previous lord. That's why Kayneth hates Diarmuid so much, and why Diarmuid himself puts up with Kayneths bullshit, because he knows what he's doing to Kayneth. Sola-Ui meanwhile fully believes she loves Diarmuid of her own volition. She is wrong.

that dialogue was amazing
This is my personal favourite episode in anime, period. I’m definitely bias because I’m a huge fate fan but there is so much to talk about when it comes to this episode it’s insane
The fight in ep4, the grail dialogue, ep 15 and 16 and the whole ass finale is what I watch reactions to this show for
I actually dislike this scene a lot since in the VN it is revealed that Saber isn't afraid of getting her hands dirty, she literally sacrificed her villages to fight back the invaders. She's a 35 year old ruler first and foremost and she did what's best for her country even if it's like Kiritsugu methods. She just prefers not do it and act chivalrous if there're other alternatives but she drops chivalry if it's weakening her. Meanwhile in Zero Saber is a naive moron with boner for chivalry who allows others to slap her around. Like hesitating to agree and not wanting to break Lancer's spear because "muh honor" even though there's a giant Cthulhu monster that threatens to devour innocents and it can be only stopped with Excalibur

There is some truth to this statement. Saber as a King was an ideal, a perfect king who dealt every situation with perfect manner. To the point it pushed away her people siding with Mordreds rebellion. Her rightness was so undeniable that if she annihilated a village or army it was a righteous and chivalrous act. As a heroic spirit she is very disillusioned by her failure and is certainly willing to get her hands dirty if it means righting the wrong of the past (pulling Caliburn from the stone). Zero saber is a weird middle ground between what she would be later in stay night. Reason for that being that (stay night spoiler!) Saber is still alive and keeps being sent back to Camlann after every summon. (end spoiler).

@@Shinekage I don't think FSN Saber is disillusioned by her failure, in the VN Saber still says that she thinks her way of ruling is the right one, she just admits that it wasn't right for Camelot. She did her best but it wasn't enough so she's willing to wish for someone who will do better in her place, whoever it can be F/Z Saber however comes across as someone who deeply regrets her way of ruling and that's why she wishes for someone better which is strange because in VN she doesn't regret it. F/Z Saber is clearly more chivalrous than her in life counterpart to the point of endangering her master and innocents which is also strange and stupid Like look at her fights with Lancers. In FSN she doesn't give any bit of info to Cu and trolls him by saying "my invisible weapon could be anything, even a bow, try not to die guessing what it is lmao" while in Zero she wanted to reveal her name instantly to Diarmuid and then reveals it to Rider anyway saying she's King of Knights That's not to say FSN Saber isn't chivalrous. Look at Sasaki Koujiro, but that's like the only instance it happened and right after Saber lied in Shirou's face and ditched him while he slept, just to go and fight Caster Urobuchi just dislikes Saber
@FlorinValentin14
Жыл бұрын
@@Shinekage I wouldn;t say that. Garden of Avalon says none of the people who sided with Mordred hated Saber. They didn't hate her but rather, they just wanted their suffering to end. The world itself was trying to erase Britain so it wouldn't matter how much Saber can keep going, because all of her victories would only delay the inevitable. It's also worth noting Mordred herself says she spread lies and manipulated people into joining her.

@@user-oi5eo6mv9i This. There's a reason why Saber's wish is for someone else to pull out the sword of selection. If she thinks she could've done something better, she would've just wished to turn back time or something like that, and rule again, this time differently.

Fate has always made me wonder how would the story have gone if Kiritsugu's summoned servant was of the assassin class and not the saber class, I wonder if he would benefit more with a servant who plots and fights a similar way he does because from what I've seen of fate the assassin class has always been looked down upon and been out classed by the other classes because it has never been used properly

Oh 100%. They're never used like assassins. They always have them doing out in the open stuff where Kiritsugu does what an assassin should. Take the episode where all of them were talking about what a king should be then all of a sudden the assassins are all around them. That's not an assassin that's a tactic of a brute who thinks numbers equals victory. The proper way to use an assassin or smarter rather is to attack from the shadows using tricks and underhanded tactics. Assassins get the job done not out in the open but where they can't be seen. The best assassins are the ones who kill and you never knew they were there. The way they're used in the series is embarrassing

OMG feels on your end of episode review
Kayneth isn't as bad as people say he is...
For Kiritsugu, it appears he wishes to end ALL war and violence and suffering in the world through a prayer to the Holy Grail. All deaths that happens before that wish is realized are miniscule and a tiny ass number compared to the entire world of countless lives he will save from then on into the future. In theory.
This episode is insane
Bro,kayneth is decent person bro. I want to write an essay why he is decent person but i am too lazy.
14:18 the better and more punchy subtitles are 'The battlefield is itself a hell'
I have been waiting for this. I love Diarmuid so much, he didn't deserve to be treated like this. HE IS MY FAVORITE aside from Gilgamesh and Iskander. Oh, and Kiritsugu. Diarmuid deserves the world, and to be happy dammit!
For those complaining about Saber, just a friendly reminder that Fate pretty much always has 3 priorities: - discussion of concepts (often via having characters confront each other) - quality animation fight sequences - an interesting story Usually in that order Accuracy is very low on the priority list, if it even makes the list at all. The point of portraying Saber this way in this series is for the discussion of concepts, as this is probably the most philosophical and character-focused show out of the Fate series, with Fate/Stay Night UBW being the closest competition for that title.
Okay guys, get ready since this is where Fate/Zero really begin.

The man myth legend emiya kiritsugu 🐐
Thats my sigma MC. He is up there with ayanokoji and gintoki in being sigma.
Iskander would have hated kiritsigu. What Kiritsugu doesn`t understand is that losing from an opponent fair and square doesn`t sting that much. Losing a game while knowing your opponent cheated hurts much more. That is one of the principles of what I understand as honor. Its more like that he is trying to convince himself that he is right and the rest is wrong. That there is one solution and thats it.
Garden of Avalon is a novel that shows Saber's backstory. One particular incident has her in the middle of war against invading tribes. At one point some knights decide to leave the war and hole up in their castles or wherever they live. Saber says it's fine, she'll use them as decoys if she has to instead. This is the same Saber that somehow gets all boo hoo over Kiritsugu tricking an ENEMY faction. Fate/Zero Saber has the AUDACITY to call Kiritsugu a monster for doing that as if she doesn't know what war is or how it works. The writer of Fate/Zero really didn't understand Saber man...
They translated it to "Self-restraint" contract but that is not wholly accurate, the script says "Geas" (Geass if you prefer cuz of Code Geass). A Geass is a contract, a blessing, and a curse, usually between a lower and higher being and rarely between higher beings. In mythology, a geas is basically a promise not to do something, its similar to Professor Snape promising to help Malfoy or keep him alive at the cost of his own life, or vowing never to raise a hand against the person you are contracting a geas with.
I'm laughing, there will be no glory in the end here. Only suffering as you continue with fate/zero. Ideals here become meaningless in the end.
