    @@phong.w4829 Tbf it's not like Kiritsugu ideology works better, he gave up on humanity and searched the holy grail because he didn't believe that the human race could bring peace by itself. He used that as a excuse to keep himself from going insane while doing all kinds of evil around the world, in name of the greater good. While it's true that honor and a noble attitude won't bring happiness and peace alone, they're still a important part of fighting for making the world a better place, it's just like Saber said, Kiritsugu's bloody methods would only bring rage and pain to everyone, even to the people around him. At the end of the day, Kiritsugu's ideal it's still pretty childish, instead of accepting that world peace it's impossible and just doing his part in making the world a little bit better, he gave up everything he had to pursuit the Holy Grail.

    Kiritsugu speaking some true words there. There isn't any nobility, holy reasoning or heroism on the battlefield. Only death and endless suffering is to be found and the hope that it will be over as soon as possible. Just look at all the (world) wars and Ukraine atm. Somebody really think throwing 2 nukes on Japan for example has some heroism to it? Like killing thousands upon thousands of civilians is noble or heroic? Or the Blitzkrieg of the Germans or how the Allies bombed down German Cities or like millions upon millions of soldiers and civilians alike died in WWII? There's a reason why civilians and soldiers get traumatized on the battlefield and can't function in normal society properly anymore. War is true hell on earth. Never forget that...

    "Ehren? Mein Sohn ist im Krieg gefallen. Er empfindet keine Ehre." A quote from the Netflix movie based on the novel All Quiet on the Western Front. It translates as "Honor? My son was killed in the war. He doesn't feel any honor." There is nothing to be gained from war, neither fame nor glory. Honor is only bestowed upon those who are distant from the fighting, mentally or physically or both. The delusional only find honor in the needless murdering of another nations people let alone it's defenders. The only pride in war is successfully defending your home and your loved ones from outside barbarians who wish to raze them to the ground. There is only pain and suffering in war.The more recent ones have shown us what horrible nightmares the idea of honor and heroism on the battlefield have encouraged. What honor is there to be found in killing the enemy slowly and painfully using chlorine or mustard gas just to take a few meters of land? What is so heroic about torching another man alive just to capture a trench? What glory is there to be found in committing genocide to a group of people because they didn't fight as hard as you expected them too in the name of the Emperor? Let's take it back a couple centuries, to relate to Arthur / Artoria. What glory was there in invading a group of people repeatedly simply because their religious practices are different than yours? You share the same God the prophets are the only things different. Each soldier that had fallen in these wars all had families and friends, children of their own back home and these wars took them away from their loved ones, often times slowly and painfully, because of petty squabbles between politicians. The only thing heroic about war is when you're defending your homeland. And even then the soldiers we hail as heros often times don't feel as such deep down. I've met plenty of Vietnam veterans and a majority of them, not all of them, felt like they've lost their humanity when taking a life or watching their friends / comrades die. "In the end, there will be no one left. We are no longer innocent. We are lost from this world. From home, we no longer believe in such things. We only believe in war." - All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque "War is when the young and stupid are tricked by the old and bitter into killing each other." - Niko Bellic, Grand Theft Auto IV

    Honestly Saber has no grounds on this argument, there should be no joy in killing people, in crushing others dreams and their wish to just live until tomorrow. To say that there is chivalry in doing such actions is to say that it is right to kill others. Another layer that was introduced in this clash was how Saber is a fictional hero while Kiritsugu is a person who has lived in the real world. You can argue that Kiritsugu isn't right but there is no hard solid basis to say that Sabers ideology is in anyway correct.

    Lol that's not what saber is saying. She is saying you can't fight evil with evil and expect something good to come out of it since you are just creating more conflicts and cycles of hatred, which is true. She also pointed out that even when taking life when necessary, it should be done as a human act, not as a massacre. That's why there were rules and principles to uphold in war, how treat prisoners or how to accept surrender and avoid populated areas for large scale warfare. After all you don't wanna be in your house chilling just to get nuked because of someone else's war. Saber is spitting straight facts.

    @@knightofthelake8112 How to say that you have no arguments in the dispute, without saying it: go to the individual, label. A little reminder to you that the daughter of Kiritsugu, whose protection was one of his main motivations, because of which he wanted to quit the whole war and stay with his wife and daughter, Gilgamesh cut out her eyes, gutted her and tore her heart out of her chest. Now Kiritsugu's words "The blood that will be shed in this war is the last" he perfectly understands that the method of saving the majority at the cost of a minority is not an option, his hope was the miracle of the Grail and, oh my God, it was he who won the war for the Grail, surprising for you, after which, sacrificing everything he set, sacrificing even the life of his daughter, he saves the world by destroying this ill-fated cup. And are you really going to tell what an honor there is in the war, having never been to it even once in your whole life? My grandfather fought against the Third Reich in the Great Patriotic War, where more than 20 million citizens of the Soviet Union died, my grandfather was in a concentration camp and saw the horrors of the war and are you going to tell how much honor is in the war? There is no honor in war if you haven't read novels, there are winners and there are losers. Now, in China, millions of Uighurs, my fellow tribesmen, people of the same nationality as me, are being killed, and where is your honor?

    @@user-yr4tk9vs7z Dude you are really delusional. Kiritsugu literally in-verse is called a man child by both narration and characters. His methods are extreme and lack any sense of priority because he is traumatized by what happened with shelee, his decisions literally fueled the Grail by the hatred it needed, angra feeds on these negative emotions, the pain and suffering the Grail war caused is one of the things that fuel it's rotten darkness, this is literally explained in the ubw route. Kiritsugu won? Yeah in a sense, but at what cost? He still literally caused nothing but destruction in the end either way, and died because of the curse of the Grail after losing everything. Gilgamesh did that to ilya to in a way give her some relief, because losing her sight allowed her to mistake a rock for berserker, who was literally her source of comfort. Kiritsugu on the otherhand crippled a man, took away everything he cared about ( both his professional and romantic life toxic though it may be), then tortured him mentally and had him drop out of the war, then gave him a moment of relief to just take away that hope and murder him and his fiance in cold blood while watching them suffer until artoria finished them off. In lord el meloi case files it is mentioned that the sight was so gruesome that ot traumatized waver for life who wasn't even there btw, Iri herself didn't even believe that Kiritsugu would actually kidnap Sola to force kayneth's hand and dispose of him like trash even it was within his ability not to do so, she actually thought those things weren't connected lmao. Like artoria said, Kiritsugu is a moron who tries to seek a miracle that might or might not be true even at the cost of committing inhuman atrocities like nothing, the LN of Zero even goes out of its way to say that he doesn't even think of any different ways to solve the issue, he sees an obstacle and so he kills whoever it is regardless of the means. There's something separates us from the vicious vikings and Saxons that Artoria was fighting against during her lifetime, that would be principles, if it was any other kingdom, artoria's rule would have created a perfect country, but since the world was rejecting Britain's existence, a lot of very inconvenient events had to take place at the same time to make sure it fails, heck according to merlin in Garden of Avalon, anyone other than Artoria wouldn't have been able to sustain Britain's existence for more than 5 years Whereas artoria did for 10 years lol, she literally took part of 12 DIFFERENT BATTLES AND WON EVERY LAST ONE. Principles and chivalry may not save the world, but they sure can help you create a better one, conflict however is part of human nature, rejecting it is rejecting humanity itself, but since it is avoidable, at least do your best to make sure less people suffer from it, that's what chivalry is for.

    The “I will kill everyone to ensure peace” plan has never worked in the history of anything. Whatever peace it brings tends to be very temporary. If the means must be nefarious, then Nagato’s idea from the Pain Arc is better: create an evil so large it serves as a deterrent. Even that doesn’t last. The best way to peace is still common interests: let peace be beneficial to both sides, co-operative peace, not a Cold War-type, deterrent-based peace. The worst way is still Kiritsugu’s way.

  • @keyki9832

    common interests are also temporary, every country that are allies are of convenience and once things become inconvenient then they are no longer allies. I think someone once said that peace is just the intermission before the next war.

  • @RedGold999

    @RedGold999

    2 жыл бұрын

    That's not what Kiritsugu is saying though. His philosophy on the matter isn't "I will kill everyone to ensure peace," it's moreso "I will kill those that I need to in order to reach my goal," and this is in relation to the Holy Grail War itself, not world peace. His method to win this war is to kill both Master and Servant: Servants because he needs to for the Greater Grail to appear, and Masters because they might try to take revenge after losing their Servant. Kiritsugu never intended to use this method to achieve world peace, hence him entering the Holy Grail War. He knows that his "sacrifice the few to save the many" way of thinking won't work for world peace, as seen when he's conversing with Angra Mainyu. He wants a miracle, all to achieve world peace, and he's willing to kill anyone who gets in his way to achieve that DURING this Holy Grail War. This whole scene started because Artoria couldn't believe that Kiritsugu would want world peace after seeing his method to try and obtain the grail. His way of fighting a war is VASTLY different than Artoria's method of fighting a war. One has morals on the battlefield, the other one doesn't. One thinks the battlefield is a place of glory, the other one thinks its hell itself. One thinks that you should uphold certain rules when fighting to the death, the other thinks you should fight to stay alive, even if it means fighting dirty. Kiritsugu's methods are so foreign to Artoria, so monstrous in her eyes that she cannot believe that Kiritsugu desires world peace, but he is just using the most efficient and sure-fire way he knows to reach the grail. He's not going to kill EVERYONE to obtain it, he's going to kill the masters of the servants he fights (he didn't fight Iskandar, so he didn't kill Waver). On another note, this is something that is mirrored in the real world. Before decent guns were used in wars, glory WAS thought to be found on the battlefield in many places. Soon after the start of World War I, many of the participating countries had this false vision shattered. The honorable and satisfying death from making a charge into the enemy was completely gone. Those that tried such things quickly learned that mounted machine guns would tear through everyone who dared try. The efficiency of these ranged weapons led to trench warfare, where both sides would spend days, even weeks, without engaging in actual combat. Glory was not to be found in war anymore, only hell itself. This has been stated in many interviews with WWI and WWII veterans. It's even common to hear a veteran from an older war pity a veteran from a newer war, seeing as technology has advanced even more. It's really interesting, I recommend listening to a few

He believed in a magic wand to wave to make it all go away, and no such thing exists. Kiritsugu's path has always been of the 'trolley problem'. Kill the least to save the most, and not to let human feelings get in the way of doing that. He's done it for so long now and sacrificed so much to that goal that he is distorted, just like Shirou is in the future, but worse. The man is emotionally broken.
