This is definitely my Degree plan and I hadn’t even watched the video until now. I’m a full time Cybersecurity instructor/technical writer for the government, making six figures in a LCOLA, but for paybumps and marketability, a basic ITM degree that can be knocked out while gaining real world experience is definitely beneficial imo.

Stressed out Healthcare work with associates in medical science. Currently left hospital to work pharmacy thinking it would be better or less stressful and it's WORSE. Looking for other career alternatives. Self employed for 8 years marketing x travel. But when corona hit my company went bankrupt in January. Looking for a new career. I'm already naturally a tech geek. Use to build computers from scratch with my dad "my punishment". Don't want to interact with people on a basis anymore. Super introvert now. I have great communication skills, just don't wish to deal with people directly on a consistent basis that are often disrespectful. I plan to do this and hit it straight on. Need a new career NOW. Hey KG. Sorry to hear about the hardships. You sound like a really hard worker and someone who is squared away. I'm sure you're going to be successful in the switch! Just to help; getting a degree is just a "slice of the pie" when getting a job! There are a few other things you can do to make the initial job hunt much easier for you (getting a certification, doing personal projects, making your own "experience" to go on your resume). Luckily I made videos for all of this stuff, so check them out when you get time! How to get a job in IT (checklist): kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z6iczdl7eb3WmJc.html How to pass any IT exam: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eoF3qrGPdNLAmco.html How to generate experience for your resume: kzread.info/dash/bejne/h5WnqrKKYLmof8Y.html Top 5 Cyber Security Projects (good for IT too): kzread.info/dash/bejne/gm2r3JKMpMjKj6w.html Do you really need a degree for IT *(this goes live today at 10:00 am)* : kzread.info/dash/bejne/o42j09Bvn9qqlaw.html Best of luck! And by the way, if you want to reply to me, just make a new comment. It's hard (impossible) for me to filter replies to replies for some reason and they just get buried.

I got a video suggestion: Do any of the edX online college courses correspond to WGU courses? I ask because the "free" option allows you to take the complete course, but do these courses allow you to pregame for WGU for free? You can pay for those courses and get access to take exams and earn certs but going the free route doesn't allow you to take exams or earn a certificate. Not sure if the paid route provides transferrable college credits to WGU. I don't even know the true value of those certs. WGU has three courses under the "WGUx's Introduction to Information Technology MicroBacherlors Program": 1) Information Technology Foundations, 2) Network and Security Foundations, 3) Scripting and Programming Foundations. I think you MUST pay for those though. Thanks for the awesome content. I Never leave comments by the way... Keep it Awesome!

Hey Marcellas, I appreciate you watching and commenting! As far as edX goes, it looks like WGU may recognize some of their courses. If you go here: partners.wgu.edu/ and click "edX" on the left, you can choose your area of study and degree plan to see what edx courses match which WGU courses. I don't really know much about edX beyond this :p Hope this helps at least!

Josh, I’m an IT manager with 20+ years experience in IT overall. I have CCNA, AZ-900(doesn’t count for much) and studying for AZ-104 now as we speak. I do want a degree. Should I go for this degree in your opinion? My concern that this degree is in business not so much tech? If that makes sense. Also pivoting to cloud so I’m stuck between getting the fastest degree Possible or actually going for BS of science in Cloud. Welp! 😄

Hey Boris, since you are already adapted to, and working in IT and have a few certs, you _MIGHT_ be better served to get one of the more technical degrees. Especially since you have CCNA, you could go for the BSNOS degree, since you already have the hardest part of that degree completed (CCNA). This degree also has AWS SysOps, which you might find useful. BSNOS: kzread.info/dash/bejne/kaWOtc5ygNuwZKQ.html Having said that, I don't think getting the BSITM will hurt you too much because you already have a _LOT_ of experience and some certifications. I guess it just boils down to how important is it that you complete quickly. Best of luck :>

Hey Josh so more unique plan here and I would love your input. I was considering getting the ITM degree from WGU, however my ultimate goal was to become a data analyst. I have the google data analytics certificate, I was hoping to obtain this degree quickly as I have 6 months of downtime with nothing but a computer to keep me company. I live close to UofM which offer python bootcamps which I planned on attending as well, at the end pairing the ITM degree, GOOGLE DA cert, and PYTHON bootcamp. Would this be sufficient enough to land a reputable DA job? I just believe this to be faster for me personally than taking the DM/DA degree route in WGU if possible!

Unless I'm missing something, wouldn't it be just as efficient for me to just take all my classes through WGU? My degree program is BSITM btw. I understand for most people it makes sense to get the classes that they can from the 3rd party sights to minimize their out of pocket expenses, but in my case, those 3rd party sites are my ONLY out of pocket expenses. I'm still willing to pay for those if there is a clear advantage to doing so. Please advise. Thanks!

If time and money is not a problem, consider enrolling in the BSIT General at WGU, get a few certs, then start applying for jobs while you finish up WGU. For someone brand new, I don't really recommend them to get the BSITM before anything because it can take quite a bit of time to complete (compared to certs) and it's not cheap. You can typically find a job after getting A+ :)

Hi Josh! I'm currently working as a Business Analyst and am completing a Data Analytics certificate program. I'm considering the WGU MS in ITM to start a Masters program (don't want a MS in Data Analytics right now). While I haven't necessarily worked in IT Management, seeing that the only cert involved for the MS is the CAPM, are there any certs you recommend for someone new to that field? I was also wondering if the MS IT courses at WGU all had papers involved or if they were mainly assessments/exams? I want to aim for finishing an MS in 1 term, so just wondering if I should go the cert route or just knock out the MS ITM instead. Thank you for your knowledge and insight, and apologies if this was already answered!

Hey Ella, thanks for watching/commenting! _>are there any certs you recommend for someone new to that field?_ As far as IT management, CAPM or PMP would be good to have. If you want to diversify into the security side, CISSP or CISM, but these have a bit of an experience requirement, so CAPM/PMP is probably fine. _>I was also wondering if the MS IT courses at WGU all had papers involved or if they were mainly assessments/exams?_ I've come to find that it's about half and half. Half the classes require 1 or more papers/projects to be written, while the other half are proctored exams. Then sometimes there are a couple certs sprinkled in there as you've noticed (CAPM). _> I want to aim for finishing an MS in 1 term, so just wondering if I should go the cert route or just knock out the MS ITM instead._ My friend did the MS with the CAPM in it and had a hard time with it. It kinda drug out the time it took for him to complete it. You could consider just getting one of the MS/MBA programs that doesn't have certs, then just picking up CAPM on your own time afterwards. I think the chance to finish in one term is greater this way. But!!! It will still be possible to finish in one term. There are a whole bunch of threads on reddit talking about this. For ex, check this one out: www.reddit.com/r/WGU/comments/pr3ndp/i_completed_the_msitm_program_in_one_term_you_can/ Sorry if this comment was all over the place, the business certs aren't really my forte, but hope this helps a little bit!
