Fastest Low Profile Graphics Card September 2020 - Nvidia GTX 1650 vs GTX 1050 Ti

Ғылым және технология

This video compares the performance from the old fastest low profile GPU, an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti, and the new low profile performance king, the GTX 1650. I am going to make a point of the GTX 1650 having GDDR6 VRAM, as there are still versions out there with GDDR5 and the GDDR6 versions are 5-6% faster when gaming. I chose the Gigabyte GTX 1650 to highlight in this video. How much faster is the GTX 1650 compared to the GTX 1050 Ti? Watch the video to find out. Thanks for watching!
*Thanks to user @Kyle Clerkin for pointing out the anti-aliasing settings were different in the Tomb Raider tests. I ran the benchmark again with anti-aliasing set to TAA to match the 1050 Ti and it scored 61FPS instead of 66FPS.

    I have this exact case, and a pretty similar setup (1650 w/ a Haswell core i7). I've been meaning to add some extra airflow to help the GPU and PSU since they don't get much from the sole intake fan, so I just duct-taped some 40mm (I think) fans in front of the disk drive compartment to blow air at them, using a molex-to-USB adapter to power them both. Seems to have helped, but would love to see how you approach it yourself. Looking forward to the video!

    So far, best demo of this card and comparing it to the 1050. This may put me over to save up my "wellness Program" Amazon cash to buy one of these. I own a full-size case (sort of). But due to the location of the ventilation for the case, I had to mount a fan/radiator combo and now my video card won't fit. So, my only option is a lower profile card. Super sad... but, I'm looking for a high-performing, lower-profile graphics card. This Gen 10 i5 onboard video is like 1/3 the power of my old video card that doesn't fit.

  • @EscoTech

    @EscoTech

    I'd say that's a great pairing for a 1650/1650 Super, and you still have an upgrade path for the AM4 socket if you have a relatively recent mobo, too. Just in case you want a little more CPU power if/when you can get a 3070. The Ryzen 3600 should be fine with a 3070, too. You might see a small CPU bottleneck on some CPU intensive games, but probably not enough to even notice. Good luck with the build and thanks for watching!

    For the shadow of the tomb raider benchmark the reason it got a much better score than the 1050ti was because on the 1650 he turned off TAA while on the 1050ti it had TAA on, if both were off then the 1050ti would be in the low to high 40's

    Hello, have you been able to verify that this card is in fact NOT the upgraded TU116 Turing Encoder? If this is in fact the GV-N1656OC-4GL, that you reviewed, I am finding one website that states the chipset in this card is the "TU116-250-KB-A1" which if true would indicate that it is not using Volta for the encoder. Are you able to pull this information anywhere definitively?

  • @EscoTech

    @EscoTech

    3 жыл бұрын

    I read your conversation with John Braman in another thread, but I'm not sure I have a definitive answer. The model listed on the box is GV-N1656OC-4GL, which matches what you said. However, in GPU-Z, it does read as a TU117 card, which leads me to believe it does not have the new Turing encoder. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions or want me to try to pull any other info off the card. GPU-Z doesn't validate the card, so it may not be 100% accurate, but it does seem to read all the other info correctly, so I have to assume it's correct.

    I have a Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF with the GTX 1650 GDDR5 Low Profile and it runs fine. The new version of this card will work too I guess.

    Yeah, I've seen it listed by some market place sellers for $200-$300, which is insane. Low profile has a little price premium, but this card isn't worth more than $150. Hopefully Nvidia announces their new 65W Ampere card soon and we get a low profile version quickly.

    pls dont get the 1650 and opt for the super.. its so not worth it. 1050ti lost here because of low core. mine boosts to 1964mhz (1050ti) and it beats the 1650 in every benchmark here.
