Can agree definitely. I had a mid range (i5 4th gen) SFF optiplex and slapped in a gtx 1650. It was the fastest gpu that was compatible.

Zotac has been making great LP cards for long as I remember. Some of my first PCs were old HP or Dell SFF office computers with gt 8400 cards and I'd play Roblox or Diablo 2 on em lol

Love this card, I have a HP Compaq Elite 8100 SFF PC that I slowly turned into a pretty powerful sleeper. 16gb DDR3, Xeon X3480, MSI LP 1650, and a Kingston SSD and i've been using it as my daily driver for almost a year now with zero complaints. It can run almost anything on max settings in 720p, and like 90% of games on high in 1080p. Spent like $250 on the whole build and couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

yes i have Elite 8000 SFF, GT 710, 6GB, Samsung 860pro SSD and cant fault it. Runs all platforms i threw at it (Windows 7 - 10Ent and all flavors of linux). but not sure if this GPU will be ok with this system. Not sure if there's enough power from the PSU to run it. Here in Australia, this card is sold for $299!!! so yeh, not sure if its worth that price?

The optiplex boot problem is caused by needing a bios update :) Hope this helped

@@pipic9590 You have to place file on pendrive and run before windows. Then after it is done, enter bios once. Exit and turn pc off, unplug power cord, press and hold power button to discharge electric leftovers on board.. wait 2-3 mins then make sure you discharge any static from yourself by touching metal or using a static wrist band ground. pop out cmos battery, leave out for 3 mins, replace, boot, go into bios and place all settings back to what you had them at. Problem solved. This is the process, the age of you tube and do it yourself videos has rendered the computer tech process null and void and then the masses claim, not compatible not working, it broke my pc when the problem was it was done incorrectly, just like this card not working in his optiplex, it works in it just fine he just does not know how to revamp a fresh bios and that with a new bios and major GPU upgrade a refresh of windows is going to be needing to purge any and all drivers even the intel HD ones or if you make it to windows the drivers will install, all looks well then the moment that game loads, beeeeep reboot, because of resource and driver conflicts

1650 low profile makes sense on its own for SFF computers.

I saw this come across my screen at work and was so excited to watch. It's crazy how expensive LP gpus are right now. I got a 750ti LP for $45 bucks about a year ago and I thought it was such a good deal. The 1050 and 1050ti LP are still crazy expensive too but for a SFF build you really can't beat this. If you go with a full sized card you have to make cade mods in a SFF case and also buy a PSU with a 6 /8 pin moat likely, so you gotta consider the extra cost!!! Great Job Matt!!!

i love the low profile idea. i have a gtx 1050 ti lp and i love it when i can use it on sff pc's. i need to add this to my wish list.

Does it work? Most of the sff dells only put out 50 watts to the pcie slot which is not enough to power a 1050 or a 1650. A regular system puts out 75 watts. I tried doing this with a 1050ti and was able to get it to work but it would crash all the time.

I actually stuffed this into my girlfriend's PC several months ago... it performs decently :) And, it's been a few months since the video... I haven't seen any 1650 supers or 1650TIs

the good old days when a 1650 at 150$ was considered a bad deal... got a laptop with 1650 last year and couldn't be more satisfied with the money.

Wow, a much better showing that I was expecting honestly. Great video

People often undersell what these kinds of rigs can do. A lot of the sff dells shipped with ryzen 1460s or even i5 4950s. They can take up to 16 gigs of ram, which is plenty of overhead for gaming, and enough for some editing. A lot of them have at least some kind of ssd, and enough space for a graphics card. The 1650 low profile is fast enough to easily run VR games at mid settings. And even if you're stuck with a low profile, you can mod the case with a simple extension out the side, and a new spot to screw in brackets using just about any material you can find. Hell, even wood would work. The motherboard won't even become a major bottleneck until you get to the 1080TI range of cards.

Getting these cards to run on optiplex is a learning curve. I put a 1050 ti in my 990 sff about a year and a half ago. I ended up having to flash a newer bios and install windows on a ssd for some reason that fixed my issues also make sure to look at your pcie slot if it says 25w max underneath, you will need a different motherboard. cooling with these prebuilts is the main concern. The only fan thats installed is decent but loud. my case fan ended up dying so i'm waiting on a little noctua and adpater to replace it.

This card costs more than my optiplex with an SSD and 8GB of ram.

Nvidia is struggling to keep their high end cards dual slot with the crazy new design. Safe to say we won't ever see a single slot card with the power the 8800 GT had in it's glory days

I bought a Gigabyte OC version to go in a HP small form factor i5 4790 pc. Its the perfect fit for this system and another thing is power...at 75w tdp on these linited small form factor power supplies its just perfect! Thanks for the video.

As the owner of RX 550, I like to see more alternative power-pinless card. low profile is a bonus that I started to like these days

The main benefit of the 1650 is that it doesn't need an external power connector. The price is too high but at a lower prices it is a great deal. Did you manage to get the optiplex to boot with the card? It may be a bios update that is necessary.

Thanks for the video, I was looking into the 1050ti and 1650 low profile last week. Came to same conclusion unles I can find a good used 1050ti. Time to save up for a low profile graphics card for my i7 dell 9010.

More like short profile, as it takes up two slows. I just installed this card the Ultra SC Edition and it ran great at 1080p games and Graphics on Videos looked good.

I love the 1650, got myself a laptop with it paired with a i5 9300h and it performs amazingly

I want this for the form factor. Tired of oversized towers. I only play Indies so no need for stronk and oversized gpu.

I am building a console style gaming system off of probably the exact USFF Dell you featured in this video, hopefully mine will boot. All the popular reviewers saying the GTX 1650 is a poor card and not mentioning the abilities of the low profile version shows that they have their heads stuck in a full-tower sized box. This makes for a great build to replace a PS4 or Xbox One in your home entertainment center with an incredibly versatile setup.

Just pay caution , i think he could not make it to boot with his sff pc is because, not all sff pc can deliver 75W through Pci-e slot so on some models it can work but not all. I may be the case here, not sure tho.

Got a HP Prodesk 600 G1 SFF with a i5-4570 and 240w PSU 4GB ram 320GB HDD off Ebay for $68 shipped :) added a 120GB SSD and 8GB ram and just ordered the MSI GTX 1650 LP all for under $300 wish me luck.

That was 3 years ago before the mining boom. Now you can buy it for $170 in Russia that includes the "parallel import" overhead. You cannot find anything more cost efficient!

I recently bought a refurbished Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF with an i5-3570 and 8gb DDR3 RAM and expanded it to 16gb and installed the GTX 1650 LP card. I specifically use this computer to play the Aerofly FS 2 flight simulator. The result is mindboggling.

The gtx 1650 is a great match for the latte panda alpha. Total watt usage of less than 100W, and I’m working on fitting a pico PSU, gtx 1650, and a lattepanda alpha with nvme drive in a mini itx case

It's nearly black Friday and I'm definitely gonna get the gtx 1650 for my editing rig.

This right here is what most of the big techtubers fail to see, they only see that it's a low end card and give it flack due to that and it's price, just like they did with the GT 1030 and they completely ignore them and don't even bother to review them after the first one. And their fans pretty much go on the offensive towards anyone that has bought one.

....it's still over priced and that's not something you just casually overlook. Price is REALLY important. Like I'd buy them for sff buids I make to sell....except they are super over priced. ALL low profile gpus are over generally over priced. GT 1030s for $80+ at least new are over priced. Even used they are over priced. I get one for $60 and I consider myself lucky. Can't even find low profile RX 550s that aren't from China. And no idea what happeend to the production runs of the low profile gtx 1050 or 1050ti as they don't seem to exist imo on the new market. Not sure I ever saw one once I stopped to look, only over priced used ones. The used market on these 1650s also seems to be non existent as I barely see any on Ebay. also has issues with what sff model you have. For instance the Dell sff's that are 2nd/3rd gen have the pci-e lane on the left, so you can use dual lane cards. The 4th gen models stupidly have the pci-e lan on the right, so you can only use a single lane card (and one with a small heatsink too as even cards that have wide heatsinks don't fit) so this card has a VERY specific use case.

I put this exact card in a Dell Optiplex 3010 sff, it works but sometimes it can crash the game due to the card drawing more than 50W from the PCIe slot. Lowering graphics settings helps. Also, this card is super loud.

The 1650 super is one of the best cards for the money at the moment. I hope that changes when the 3070 is released.

Hey Matt , i have the exect same card. In a Dell 7010. [ i5 3470, 16gb ddr3, 1 TB SSD ]. Temps are oke-ish, performs like a champ, clocks are oke, average, but the card gets pretty loud. ( due to lack of airflow ). But all in all very capable system, just loud.

I have an even more cramped computer case, a gateway sx2380. It has 2 pci slots, but it can only fit a single slot low profile card due to how close the slots are to the end of the motherboard. I went with a Yeston rx550 with 4gb of ram. Premiere pro recognized the card and can use it for hardware encoding, so I'm happy

This was a cool vid, props!!! I just had a 3 yer old precision. Would have done this for sure, but i couldn't find a good slim (and cheap) card, so i pulled the board and luckily it had standard ATX holes/ mounts. So i put it in a budget case and added a standard size rx 570 for cheap, it crushes too!

Since uploading this video have you been able to get this card to run in the Dell Optiplex or still not working? i recently got an Optiplex 790 SFF computer for an easily portable gaming machine but need to do a GPU upgrade. Originally i was going to go with the 1050ti as there are many videos showing it working, when i came across the 1650 low profile GPU. I was saddened when you stated in the video that you could not get the system to boot even after doing a fresh install of windows. Please let me know if you got this card to work or if i should just go with the 1050ti low profile from MSI. thank you

I am running the Zotac GTX 1650 on my Optiplex 7020 SFF i5 4590 right now. It plays Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, Phoenix Point, X-Com 2, very well.

with the music i thought this was a damn Fresh video.

as an sff builder i dont think id use the thing, unless were specifically talking a media center pc in one of those cable box sized cases. so long as it can run emulated games and decode my video streams from my main rig it will do. these cards tend to be for a very specific use case, and are of little use outside of that case. as a result they can gouge on the price considerably, and the people stuck in that use case are forced to either buy it or run on the igpu.

I put this 1650 card into a dell inspiron and it works great! Even though It was really expensive.

I know Im a little late to this video, but I used an MSI LP 1650 in a mini itx build last spring. I could not be happier with the decision.

3:47 Even though putting a small form factor card in a normal shroud case may seem terrible, but most pre-builts for that size use low wattage power supplies to save money, and most of those power supplies cannot be upgraded because of proprietary units.

🙂 thats weird, are you sure that 1650 supports Legacy Mode just like the 1050thai? Does it matter if you use Windows 7? Did you check both the HDMI & the DVI outputs cause sometimes only one of the outputs will work? Test with another video card? 🐢🐢🤔

There is however a second scenario that weirdly no one is talking about: Home-Labs based on old enterprise hardware are getting more and more love and those (especially 1U) servers typically have at least some of these slots. What they are used for might vary, but I imagine Folding@Home, Plex hardware transcoding, all that kind of stuff. Honestly I would rather consider the SFF gaming PC to be the niche in direct comparison =D

This type of card gets loud in the SFF Dells, but the extra performance is worth it. Especially once you have headphones on. It is just a matter of poor airflow to the GPU which means higher fan speeds. A good budget fps shooter combo

Most reviews I've read describes the fan noise level as WAY too loud. I wish I could hear a noise level reference test between the 1050 ti and 1650? Hopefully the 1650 Super LP versions come out soon, I don't want to wait for long to buy the best LP Gpu. I'm afraid of buying a 1650 LP only to get out classed soon after by a 1650 Super LP release.

I have a feeling you arent going to see a LP 1650 super....from everything I can find they draw 100 watts....the only reason to get an LP is to fit in an SFF case...the vast majority of the market for these LP cards is in re-purposed HPs and Dells...and they wont be able to provide the 6 pin power needed for the 1650 super.

@@chillermiller8654 trust me...I *wish* I was wrong on this, because I would *love* to drop a 1650 super into an older HP or Dell SFF and breath a whole lot of extra life into it...but unfortunately the power requirements of that GPU make that appear to be a non starter.

@@chillermiller8654 its all about the wattage for these older pre built SFFs...time will tell. 1050ti and 1650 will have to do for the time being.

I have a 750 Ti in that exact Silverstone case as my living room HTPC. Rocket League 1080P max settings all day long. Love it.

sometimes you will need to update the BIOS of OEM PC in order to support the newer GPU.. or sometimes the motherboard has GPU wattage limitation.. or maybe the PSU is not enough..

Can my 790 sff support the GTX 1650 low profile? My PSU for my 790 sff is 240w

Great for rebuilds. Dropped it in an Optiplex and love it.

@@BankerRC The one i used had a 275 gold rated.

You used to be able to put those in an SFF computer but now Dell Hell changed their design. Now the 16x slot is on the bottom and the PCI-E slot only has 30 watts of power.

Putting it in an Optiplex is great, i call mine Dankiplex

i put this into a normal size pc case, exactly like you said not to! i like it. does exactly what my r9 270 couldnt and then some lol. i also failed to read the "low profile" on the box, so i was a bit surprised haha.

Good card. Despite the propaganda out there utterly trashing it.

Are there cards still being produced? The current GPU shortages have pushed prices to around $400 on eBay. I don’t see any available from retail sites.

I have a normal sized PC, but I picked up a lp 1650 for the main reason that it has a 75W TDP. I like having my PC be as efficient as possible.

You state that it has two 80mm fans.. It does not. It has 2 40mm fans that @50% sound like a high pitch dustbuster turned on. I immediately changed the fans to one 60mm. The temps are the same but the noise no longer bleeds in to my headset.

Are the temps high enough to damage the pc?

1650 is a great gpu for alot of reasons its so great call of duty cold war runs perfectly on it even fallout 76, the only thing its downfall is 4gb of vram and it cant play games like cyberpunk very well as long as you have a decent cpu your fps will be 60+

Can you use it on a dell optiplex 3020 sff

question - on amazon a few of people have made reviews saying the fan noise is 'atrocious'. Any owners of this card know if this is loud or annoying?

It's loud if you don't have room. The sound bounces rather than attenuates in open air.

did you add any overclock to it? these low profiles can still have a lil bit of an overclock. done it to my evga gt 1030 sc and still plays games today. battlefield 1 and V, cod wwll, fortnite all play no problem with no lag.

I think Brian over at Tech YES City has had the same issues when installing cards in to those OEM prebuilt's, such as Dell, HP, etc. I'm pretty sure he's found a workaround for most of them, but I do believe there were a couple of oddballs that just would not accept an add in card. Might be worth a look. And I'm still calling that card the "GT 1630"! LOL!

Ive got a dell 9010 sff with 16gb samsung ddr3 and i7 3770 with a gigbyte gtx 1650 lp OC (running underclock)with mid setting in cod war zone, on the main screen idling it get low 80 degrees Celsius because of the 5mm gap between the power supply and gpu fans, the only solutions i could think of is replacing the fan in the power supply with a higher cfm fan or insulting the inside of the psu on the same side that the graphics card is on because there is a large heat sink in the psu running alone the same side as the graphics card that is heating the steel side where the intake fans are on the gpu(that tiny 5mm gap)EDIT- ive just undervolted it and temps have droped to around 65c so the world go round

1650 LP is the best card that fits in my Vios case

This is actually the first video i have seen on this card! I have been waiting so long for GPU so i can throw it in my old lenovo desktop. This thing currently has an old Nvidia GT 620 in it! Cant wait to get that thing out and bring this PC back to its full potential. Where did you end up getting yours? I cant find any for sale other than one MSI version on eBay.

Does the optiplex in the video able to supply the 75w through the pcie slot? I know some dells have it limited to 35w and Im not sure if i want to risk it

Hail bro! I have a compact HP, these SLIM. I wanted to put this card in it since it is a low profile. But like, the source of the HP is 200w 80plus, do you think it would support it?

I have this gpu and the only issue I have with it is the horribly loud fan, anyone know what I can do about it other than adjusting the fan curve? It's really irritating.

Gtx 1650 low profile it's the same specification to other GPU like 1650 oc, 1650 msi, so size and fans the difference?

And now people would be stoked to even see this in stock...

This is the best my pc could handle and is what ijm gonna get, i dont have a powersupply capable of powering ones that require external power. This is legit the best my pc can do and is why im buying it..

But can it play Minesweeper?

I have a normal size PC but I purchased this card as a mistake not understanding what a low-profile card is. Will it still be compatible?

Was it after you put the card in that it didn’t boot, or was the PC it self dodgy?
