Faster Way to Transfer Paints into Dropper Bottles with a Syringe

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Transferring Citadel Paints from their paint pots to dropper bottles has a large number of advantages but it can be time consuming. Using a syringe with a large dispenser tip can cut that time down to just seconds. I walk through my process and supplies.
- 20ML non-sterile syringe with Luer Lock tip
- 14 GA dispensing Needle with Luer Lock 1 inch length
- 15ML dropper bottle

Liked your vid. I have been using this method for about three years now. All I use for a nozzle is the plastic cap from one of my brushes, and have been using the same one so far.

Due to a quirk of fate & impatience I shortcutted this process (with long nosed veterinary syringes & silicone straws) .... it was awful compared to Lurelock & 16g. Absolutely amazing method thank you so much :D

If you use smaller syringes like 5ml it will be way easier for ya... I do this all day with medications haha. Also what helps is to pull back an amount of air equal to about what you want to draw out of the pot.. and then inject that air into the paint.. the syringe will fill itself without having to pull back or atleast make it easier to pull back.

@@soundgarden8885 so it really helps if you pull air into the syringe first, roughly the same amount as you want paint in the syringe... once filled with air, stick the tip down into the paint and push the air out into the paint.. due to physics, the pressure will cause a suction effect and the syringe will fill itself up some magically, then pull the rest out... but make sure you don’t spray paint out all over when you push the air in! Haha. It’s an Age old Nursing trick for thick medications

I personally syringe the magority up then add the 2ml of water (its going to thin anyway) at the end to make the remainder extra runny so you get the max amount of paint from the walls and lid of the bottle 👍👍👍

How easy is it to clean the syringe and tip, please? buying a big pack of either is going to be really expensive for me in the UK. I can get a pack for x 2 for a few pounds. if I can easily rinse them out I'd much prefer this as it's getting really expensive to transfer over my paints. I have around 100 I need to transfer.

What about all the paint left in the pot? Did you decide that was an acceptable loss? I wonder what the difference is between how much is lost over time vs how much you decided was an acceptable loss?

My only concern with this video is adding water to the paints. It worries me because I kind of like to keep the paints as they are and thin them myself. With that being said, do you think this is possible without adding the water?

You're right, but the purpose of moving them out of the original bottles is not just so that it's in a dropper - it's because those Citadel pots have the tendency to dry out.

Have you tried using a funnel or directly pouring into the drop-bottle ? Even when mixed with medium it clogs the bottleneck and remains too thick, you have to basically turn it into colored water if you want to use the "just pour it in" technique
