Fascinating ULTRA Narrow House with Multi-Level Maze of Rooms - FULL TOUR

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This ultra-narrow house looks modern on the outside, but inside it's a cozy and welcoming home with multiple levels designed around a meandering set of stairs that run up the center of the home. With lots of wood, exposed copper pipes, and small dimensions, the owner often describes the house as feeling like a boat or a treehouse.
While it might seem like the house was recently built as an in-fill house or accessory dwelling unit, there has actually been a narrow single-story structure on the property since at least 1880. It wasn't until 1980 - a full century later - that the then-owner, an architect, applied to the committee of adjustments to build the house as it is today.
With such a long and narrow floorplan, an important feature of the house is the full glass walls and skylights at both ends of the house, which lets natural light flow into each room and prevents the house from feeling dark and confined.
Jessica has done a beautiful job of making this quirky house into a lovely home with loads of unique light fixtures, vintage items, and bold artwork!
Thank you, Jessica, for giving us a tour of your home!
Thanks for watching!

It's interesting, from the outside, because of all of the glass, I expected it to be very modern inside. I was pleasantly surprised by how warm and homey it felt because of all of the wood and furnishings that she chose. I really liked her aesthetic. And though I'm not huge fan of so much glass, I could see how in this home it's necessary, otherwise the home would feel very dark.

This house is actually an architectural achievement in how it achieves so much functionality in such a small space, while still feeling full of life. It's surrounded by natural light as it travels between the two sides of the house throughout the day right out of Frank Loyd Right's school of thought. And it includes a full kitchen and bathroom. Really spectacular.

I wish more builders and architects in Australia would build houses like this, this house has everything you need in a small footprint but is overall still 1400 sq ft, so still a sizeable home. These are the types of designs that should be taught to potential apprentice builders so the future of housing is more cozy and less wasted spaces. I love it. Also potential for more cost effective housing and more of it.

I love this cozy, functional, amazing home with all the separate rooms on many floors and 2 outside spaces to enjoy in nice weather. I can easily understand the owner being very happy to own this property.

I’m always impressed with someone who lives in the small house or that kind of narrow house in this case. They can arrange and adjust their space effectively and efficiently.

Very pretty and cozy feeling. 8' wide isn't bad at all. Obviously the same as most tiny houses. I love that she has all the shelves mounted to the wall to give the eye more floor space. And I love that tub by the window.

This is delightfully cozy, much more warm inside than the mostly glass facade would have led me to believe it would be. Space to space it seems tight, but overall it does not feel too claustrophobic, and i feel like two people could live here comfortably without tripping over each other all the time
