I was always told to thaw frozen meat out with cold water & not warm or hot. Which way is correct?

Your food always looks delicious better than any restrurant & more delicious. Luke knows how lucky he is & soneday the kids will also, As a kid in the 50's ( on my brother & I) we ate it until it was gone, even if it took 2 or 4 days to eat it up. Never said we didn't like it,, mom didn't run a restaurant.

The food safety standard is to use cold water. With warm water, the outer layer of meat will rise above the safe temperature too fast, while the center is not thawed. When I was in the fast-food restaurant business we rounded numbers off. So, for me, the safe temperature for meat is 40 or below. I think technically it is 42 degrees, but 40 to 120 as the unsafe zone is easy to remember. This is why it's also recommended to not put frozen meat in the slow cooker. Of course, I think that we've all probably eaten meals that didn't conform to these ‘rules’ and were just fine. This is really just an FYI.

yes, I agree ❤️
My uncle Jim, who is a chef at Sam’s seafood in Long Beach many years ago, taught us to thaw meat and cold water with salt in it. Just just just a thought.
Currently sitting in a chair with a heated blanket while the littles play and I’m trying to meal plan before a winter storm rolls in so good timing for me to see this. 🥰

I'm so excited you made butter chicken 😊❤ as an Indian this made me so happy 😄 in India we call it garam masala ( no extra r in masala). There r many Indian breakfasts that are very nutritious you should try them.
Korean rice bowls are amazing with ground pork too:) I also always roast veggies as an additional topper. The best is cabbage, red peppers, and mushrooms:)
Lisa, I turn on your videos just for motivation to be motivated to not tire from mundane of routine of homecare & cooking and prepping and to thrive in it instead.
Another recipe with ground beef is moussaka . Layers of thinly sliced potatoes and ground beef and onions seasoned. Bake on 400F for 20 minutes then whisk some eggs with cream and seasoning and pour over and finish baking uncovered for additional 15-20 minutes. You can put some dry parsley on top❤

Youre my favorite homestead to watch. The kids, the beautiful house that isnt always perfect, the measuring that isnt perfect, the delicious food, the homebirths, its all my favorite. Ive been a SAHM trying to learn for about 18 months and youve helped me so much more than youll ever know. Thanks for having a channel full of grace and reality. Youre the bomb ❤❤❤
Lisa I love love love your content. It is so wholesome and real . Keep the videos coming. I admire you and your ability to feed a large family and stay sane !!
Wow! Such a blessing to have a mom that cooks meals like this. This was great Lisa. Ty so much.
I so enjoy your videos, and would love to have more! I'm not one for podcasts often, love to see cooking and family things, so your videos really fill my homemaking cup!
As an Indian Iam so happy to see that you cooked butter chicken❤❤❤lots of love from India🎉😊😊 Expecting more Indian recipes in your vlogs Dear ❤❤❤
I love the simplicity of your cooking and all your tips I’m so grateful to watch you and feel I’m part of your virtual family. I hope you and and yours had a wonderful New Year’s 🎉 God’s blessings be with all of you. ♥️
So nice to see your children helping in the kitchen. They will be well equipped! ❤️🙏🏻Val C
That shrimp boil looked so good Lisa! Congratulations to your daughter on getting her permit that day! I went through that twice, I have 2 boys, it's a part of turning into young adulthood! Thank you for sharing this video with us Lisa! Happy New Year to you all! 🎉🎉
Its snowing here in the Adirondacks this morning, and coming in from barn chores I was listening to your latest podcast with Tidbits & Co, and mulling over my meal ideas for the day. Any and all food ideas are SO welcomed lol!! I've been cooking from scratch ( for my hubs and 4 kids) all my life (and my mom before me and her mom etc.) Eating out is just something we literally never do. Keep those ideas coming, Lisa!! I love (*neeed*) them!! ❤
Love all your meal ideas!! One way that I love to use my roast cuts is to put it in a crock pot, pour a bottle of ranch over it (I like the primal kitchen ranch), sprinkle some pepperoncinis on top, salt, pepper, and I typically throw on a packet of the garden ranch seasoning from thrive market. It’s SO good. The best way to make roast in my opinion.
Just recently came across your Channel I am enjoying it thank you blessings
Thanks for the video! Love how you share your collected house and how it's always changing to fit your family's needs. I wonder if you would love some sort of cabinet in that spot between the window and the fridge? Maybe something antique and wood-tone, to bring some warmth, that would mount on the wall in order to give you more storage in your busy kitchen!?
Great ideas for meal planning. Plus looks delicious! Thank you for sharing!
Delicious looking meals! Loved hearing the kiddos in the background!
Enjoy your videos! I’ve been inspired to restart sourdough baking…thank you. The Korean beef bowls are such a great recipe. My family enjoys adding fresh cucumber slices to the bowl for crunch and shredded carrots soaked in rice vinegar. The slight pickled carrots are a perfect acidic touch to the recipe. So many different creative toppings for such a good basic recipe.
You’re so creative with what you come up with to cook. I always use recipe books for ideas/guidanxe.
Lisa, great recipe choices this week!! Thank you for sharing!!
I love to watch you cook, you make it look so easy!!! I would eat everything you make, it looks so delicious!!! The baby is getting so big and your daughter will be driving !!!! Thanks Lisa for a great video !!!!
I like how you cook in a relaxed way. Therapeutic to watch😊 also you trying out an Indian butter chicken was really cute 😍
Always love new recipe ideas. One of my favourite simple fround meat recipes is make an omelet. brown the meat with onions and garlic and what ever seasoning you want. When it's browned pour in beaten eggs and let set. good with bread or over rice.
I could watch these every day! Thank you for documenting all of this. So relaxing. I also loved the extra touch of adding the kids voices in during a clip -- felt very homey.
Can we get more grocery haul videos?! I love seeing your azure, thrive or grocery store hauls!! 😊
I love Bullgogi! The first time I ever had Bullgogi was when I was stationed in Pusan South Korea. I was in the army in 1987. I have learned to make this very delicious dish. I take it to my Prayer Group. Everyone loves it. I’m happy you found this recipe for you and your family.
Just enjoyed this viseo while folding laundry lol I got a mill for Christmas & have been experimenting with it! I listened to the podcast about milling your own flour but still would like to see tips on this & what to expect differently when baking bread.
We are sure enjoying this long video. Thank you for showing us your how to videos.
Shrimp boil is so good. Thanks for sharing these wonderful tips!

Instant Pot butter chicken is one of my go-to dinners! And you can put the boneless skinless chicken in FROZEN, just add a couple of extra minutes, which is one of my favorite things when I've forgotten to pull meat from the freezer. Korean beef rice bowls is another go-to around here. Sometimes I saute some quick veggies to go on top, sometimes we just eat the beef, rice and top with the green onions. So good.
Another wonderful show! The shrimp boil was a great idea! Is the corn frozen? What great eaters you have!
Love these receipes. like making things in my crock pot! We are seniors so only cook for 2! Pot pies sound great.
This was a particularly nutritious and delicious video. Happy New Year! 😊
You make all of these yummy dishes effortlessly! I love that your kids like all kinds of spices.😊
Love your sweater towards the end of the video! (The multicolored one)
I discovered your site not long ago. I don't live on a farm & never have but I like farm houses & somethings that go along with farms. Your place is so pretty & your cooking is phenomenal. I am 76 & live alone (widowed 7 yrs ago). I like to watch other people cook & do things around their homes. Your family is lovely. & your farm is so beautiful. I look forward to spending many evening hours watching all your videos that I have missed up to now.

Just found you as I received some sourdough starter from my niece at Thanksgiving and had no idea what to do with it. I was gone for a week after Christmas and found you as I wanted to know how to keep and use a sourdough starter that wasn't "fresh". I'm not in your analytic majority...I'm over 50 and I am very thankful for the video I found and used to make my first loaves of bread. I am now more relaxed knowing I don't have to"babysit" this starter and using the discards. requested your ecookbook and look forward to reviewing. Thank you.

Hi Lisa! In addition to all these above, I love watching your videos for the inspiration and the beauty of them. I didn't know that instant pot had glass lids. Excited to learn that! What's your sister's farm called? Very interested in planning to get part of a cow maybe next year. I wondered twice while watching your videos where you got the light color jeans you're wearing. Always on the lookout for affordable and cute jeans.
