Steve was a genius for creating that cloning device. If only it would’ve came back in season 9 so Laura could get cloned. That way, Stefan would also be happy to have another Laura if there was another season.

Funny how you mention it. The cloning machine was supposed to return after Stefan died and merged into Steve in season 10. Realizing how much everyone was missing him, Urkel recreated the cloning device to make permanent clones and tested it on himself despite Myra and Cornelius' warning him against it because of possible side effects. The device works so well that it created three clones of Steve, one becoming Stefan once more and the other two being Bruce Lee Urkel and Albert Einstein Urkel. There was a planned Valentine's Day special where Laura with Steve's help clones herself and uses the Transformation chamber have the clone become Bruce Lee Laura to give Bruce Lee Urkel a significant other to be with. Myrtle was going to use the chamber to become Miranda Urquelle to test Greta's cousin, Dominic, to see if he was loyal to her and he passes the test. Ultimately after going back as herself, Myrtle asks Steve for a favor in using his cloning device to clone herself and have the clone be Miranda. This allows Stefan to have a family member of his own in spite of being a part of the Urkel family.

I read that season 10 (the season that never came to be) Steve was basically supposed to become more like Stefan (guessing the two merged again) while retaining some of his personality. I would’ve loved to have seen that.

@@LordZula yeah because it's just a theory. On what fans wished the final season was.. In reality they never worked on anything and had no plans as they just cancelled it all together. Cuz the woman who played Myra aka Michelle Thomas she sadly 😭 passed away of stomach cancer in 1998 I believe but filmed all her scenes on family matters before her passing. The reason why she passed so sudden is because by the time they fount out she had cancer it was already too late and so that's that. And apperenlty with cancers like stomach cancer usually with that type of cancer you usually find out when it's too late dang. Cancer sucks!! Looking at Michelle you wouldn't even realize how far she was in with her cancer it really sucks.. So obviously they cancelled the series because they didn't feel right to go on without Myra/Michelle. Even tho Michelle wasn't a full on main cast she still was treated like one of the main cast I mean she was Steve's girlfriend for a few yrs until like S 8 or 9.. also surprising that they didn't put Maxine or whatever Lauras friend as a main cast as she was on the show since S1 I think .. but apperenlty Michelle was boosted to almost main cast because of her dating Steve causing the girl who played Lauras bsf to be in the back and not a main cast but she still appeared more in the show than a side character to me Michelle and the woman who played Lauras bsf shoulda got same airtime but that's me but still that's for another story Anyways I do think the only way they woulda went on with family matters in the 90s/2000 was writing in the script myra passing away sudden due to cancer (out of respect for Michelle) that woulda been better than just saying she moved away.. and the season opening with that then moving on but idk it wouldn't feel right to just do that.. as she just passed away.. also they shoulda had the series finale of family matters be Steve and Lauras wedding. Also them suddenly cancelling family matters (as it was planned to have a S10 til Myra's passing and I'm sure the show woulda went on for more seasons in 00s had Myra been alive and Myra prbly woulda naturally got written out the show unless if they found a way to make Myra be in the show without being obsessed with Steve 😭) but them cancelling family matters suddenly reminds me of I think it was emperor's new school or new groove how they cancelled it suddenly after 1 or 2 seasons not due to ratings but due to the passing of Eartha Kitt... but I feel if they bring family matters in the 2020s (as reboots/continuations are a regular thing now it would be interesting if it was just as good as the fresh prince reboot but still a comedy/sitcom and less serious) but bring back the ogs in the series with jaeel etc... and as for Myra if they were to bring family matters back...and if they mention myra definitely they'll prbly end up writing Myra off as she moved away when Steve and Laura got married or she passed away yrs ago of cancer. Or something either way it'll be sad as we know how she really passed irl and I hope they bring back the girl who played the sister as she was wrongfully kicked off the show. And bring back the original mom. (I'm also bringing up the idea of a possible reboot to family matters because the original mom in the series who played Harriet for 97 percent of the series except the last few episodes of final season.. well the original Harriet(the mom) in show said recently in 2022 how she would love to bring family matters back but only if the og cast is their (as majority of them are still alive except for Myra), and the original mom said bring back the ogs along with them bringing back with judi even the original mom said they wrongfully fired the other sibling.)

I miss the old times. When I was a kid, the last thing on my mind was that it was a show with ba cast of Black people. There were no idiotic things such as cultural appropriation. I never thought twice about them being dressed like Germans. I miss those days when nobody was looking for racism or something to be offended about.

I wish there had been just one more season of this show….it’s really a shame at how it feels like they left Stefan and Myra out in the cold….

Poor Steve??? The dude crossed every boundary that was set in place and always managed to make himself be the victim. He was possessive over Laura, chased guys away and just didn’t entirely too much. She still managed to be his friend and have his back especially when he was being bullied. Steve needed Myra so he can see his toxic ways when it came to Laura. His maturity while still remaining the same nerdy and clumsy Steve is what made Laura fall in love. He changed for the better as he should.
