That was canonically the first time they meet. Throughout the series Peter and Ernie have crossed paths and it has ended in violence. Ernie continues to attack Peter despite the fact Peter saved his life in Season 19 episode 10 “Fecal Matters”. Ernie is a villain for the several reasons. For example Ernie is incredibly violent and ungrateful. He has severe anger management issues which have been displayed in several episodes which is likely the reason for his extremely violent tendencies. He has been shown to be ungrateful by when Peter saved his life in Season 19 episode 10 “Fecal Matters” and in season 5 episode 16 “No Chris Left Behind” Peter even bought him dinner and Ernie winds up attacking Peter afterwards which displays severe ingratitude. He has also been shown to be deceptive by giving Peter an expired coupon to cause an inconvenience to the main protagonist just for the simple reason of deviousness. He has been humanised or “chickenised” by the writers of the show by showing he has a wife and kids that he loves dearly and would do anything for. In conclusion Ernie the Giant Chicken is a profoundly deep character. You can see conflicted he is. The story's aim isn't to justify or praise his actions but to understand where they come from
