Enjoy your style of filming so much. The TV show was great, but I prefer your down to earth approach without the dramatics. 👍 ♥ 🍄 🎄
I've watched you all afternoon. Loving the kids. They have grown up so fast. I can remember when they were born on the History Channel. So glad to see the family healthy and lhappy.
It is great that you are teaching the kids like this! Things they need to know & knowledge passed down is great!
You guys are the greatest. I’ve watched your family and your children grow up for a lot more than anything on KZread altogether thank you for continued tradition.
Love you guys. Watched every episode of your family's show. Thanks for sharing the kids with us. We know it can come at a price... But we're thankful for the openness and all the amazing years.
Your children are getting a very good education. Thank you for bringing us along.
Philadelphia checking in. 14:04 Sparrow is so smart n the finger point had me cracking up. "Porcupine can hurt you" lol 18:01 the double finger point "blueberry pancakes in the morning" so cute. Raising the kids the way they should be. A city kid here would be terrified of the forest.
It is so nice to see kids learning about how to survive with what nature provides! Great to see all of you again!
I love that you're teaching your children these wonderful foraging skills.
Your family is adorable, thank you for raising them the way you do ❤

That's exactly how we feel, only better because once they are in the freezer or dried they last a long time. Unlike old Easter eggs. Lol those start to turn after about a week

Many ways but in this situation ,you can hear the ocean far into the woods im sure
I want to learn more about foraging in my area.
I just found your content. I was a huge fan of your old show. It’s super weird to see you. Use an iPhone because the show definitely portrayed you guys as a little more primitive because of your location so they never showed you using a folder or or anything like that, but I think that was, a theme of the show like they were trying to portray you guys as this rare thing
A bit of a kitty kat, LOL. I meow sometimes right before a big hike if it is raining and nasty out. I can totally relate.
Watching this reminds me of happier times ❤❤😊
I used to go with my dad and get wild asparagus and morels under the apple trees in Michigan. Made a good feast❤
I can’t believe y’all didn’t pick the deer horn up off the hedgehog trail
Hi Eivin, Eve and family!! Unfortunately, I know nothing about mushrooms but my daughter is learning. She recently went hunting for morel mushrooms for the 1st time and really enjoyed the experience (and the mushrooms!). I was just wondering if morel mushrooms grow in Alaska and if they are a kind your family also enjoys?
The amanita is the first mushroom I learned to stay away from. I was little and said "Ohhhh... pretty🍄" and Mom said "Don't touch! It's a death angel". LOL, I haven't thought about that in years😊

Depends how You use it. Ancient shamans were using strains of Amanita for their rituals. Only one which I think was not used was the gray/green one because even with boiling too much toxins are left inside.

Love walking in the Woods and pick mushrooms
What a adventure!
Every mushroom grows from animal poop falling on the ground and mushroom grows from the molding poops!!!....and everything else molding...mold is mushroom
How much of your family's diet is derived from hunting, fishing, foraging and gardening?
I have yet to find a mushroom app that's accurate. I bring a book along for I.D. purposes.
Is there a certain way to pick a mushroom? Do you leave a root?
@kilcher_homestead

You pick the while fruiting body. Some people believe they should be cut and not picked. But I don't know if this is true

Mushrooms don't regrow in the typical sense of a plant. They don't have the same type of root system that resprouts. They repopulate off of spores which become airborne after the mushroom has reached full maturity or near it. Which is one reason people that pick mushrooms often use mesh bags that breath so they spread spores as they pick the mushrooms and walk around. The mesh bag also keeps the mushrooms from getting sweaty and slimy like in a sealed plastic bag.
Iven the Mushroom app is very handy
What kind of hardwood trees were in that area?
can dry them or freeze them?
Comment for the Algorithm 😊
