Quite an amazing family. VHS from famous adventurer and bush pilot, Johnny Ski. While Johnny Ski stayed with the Kilcher family for a time, he left a large gold nugget inside the Kilcher visitor log. Johnny didn't have enough nice things to say about the family. The old address written in pen on the VHS tape was Box 353 Homer, Alaska 99603.

this is absolutely awesome... I had hoped to stumble across more of this homestead during the time Yule was alive... maybe I will, but I bet he'd be really proud of what his family has done on the homestead he started.
What a great man. Reminds me of my father and grandparents, they did the same things in east tennessee
I spent a lot of time talking with Yule and walking his property in the 1980's. I was in my early 20's and would visit there with my young son. Yule had a huge impact on my world view. So did his daughters Sunrise and Mossy.

Not so sure, About This, Vid. Alaskan 40+ Years, My Son & Daughter Had Jewel,s Dad as Their Music Teacher, I Lived In Homer Alaska.. During those Years.. Homer Elementary, & Paul Banks Elementary School.. Met Jewel @ Her Dad's Classroom, She Played a cpl songs Was Fantastic, She'' I think was Not a Star @ That Time.. But .. May-B This Yule K.. Is Legit ?

Met the Kilcher's in the 70's. Alaskans are weird but the Kilcher's were weirder than weird. It was in the early 1980's and some of the cult kids had only interacted w/whites and the occasional Native. I was shocked that Jewel made it out. Seem like some kinda weird Nazi mind control stuff going on.
Not much about Mama Kilcher. I am sure she must have been important.
