Excellent review! I’ve been looking at Fallkniven knives for a while now. Might be a good time to pick one up.

Great review Rob! I don’t have the A1 Pro but I do have the original A1 and love it. I’ve had it for over a decade now and it is still one of my favorite knives, particularly in the winter time. It’s still my go to knife for winter bushcrafting because I can baton larger pieces of wood and I don’t have to worry about it rusting in all the snow and damp. I have plenty of other large knives that can baton larger pieces of firewood but none as well as the A1. That high saber/convex grind goes through wood like and axe. Usually a couple of whacks with the baton is all that is required and the log just splits apart as though I hit it with an axe.

I know that a lot of people claim these fallkniven knives are excellent and can do anything you throw at them. But as I saw in this video and others are proving light work like shaving kindling or making feather sticks is great. But when doing heavy carving or in a destruction test I saw this knife break just trying to pry it out of a piece of wood. A guy called Joe X used the knife to see how much it could take in a destruction test, this so-called super steel broke just trying to pry it out of a log. These knives are for bushcraft light use. but I prefer the cold steel San Mai srk as it comes extremely sharp out of the box. And on Joe's Destruction test, the San Mai srk knife took a lot more beating than this dungy knife. I watch Survival Lily's review on the High and Mighty Falkniven s1 the reimagined cold steel srk 3V steel blade. It failed horribly. She put it through its paces cutting open the coconuts and using the S1 as she would in any survival situation stuck on a tropical island. The sheathes are junk and cheaply made. Her s1 chipped and rolled horribly. Imho the Falkniven knives are more hype than practical. My brother bought an A1 pro and did bushcraft processing deer cutting wood batoning, eating, etc. And it chipped all the way down the blade. He showed me the blade and I tested the srk I sharpened my srk and it didn't chip or role during my meat, food, and wood processing I cut the thick rope and paracord I have, and the srk never dulled if you know how to properly use a knife. Watch Joe X A1 Pro destruction test and see how easily it breaks. Then watch Joe X Channel srk, San Mai knife destruction test. The srk takes a lot more punishment than the hype behind the Falkniven A1 pro crappy super steel that breaks easily while prying it out of a log. If a man can snap a super steel just by pulling it out of a log what good it?

I'll take a look, a1 pro is 7mm thick, how you he break that, just for the record I'm not a fan of joeX destruction videos.

Mmm I really want a Fällkniven knife. Great use case you mentioned there with splitting in a more confined space where you wouldn’t want to swing an axe. 👌🏻⭐️

I have the A1 pro and the A2 which would meet your needs for a bigger bowie type knife. I don't like the thinner bowies, I like fallkniven's A2 profile much better. I carry my A1 pro everywhere out in the woods and purchased a high riding kydex sheath for it with a tek-lok mount. I carry the A2 if I'm more serious about processing wood.

Hi! I can't find your fallkniven A2L review anymore... Are you going to re-review it? Has your opinion changed on the A2? Does the length increase lf the A2 hinder too many tasks to be worth it over the A1? Thanks for your real world reviews!
