Falken WildPeak AT3W 25K Mile Overview

I have spent the end of high school career and all of my college career so far finding the limits of these tires and it only took 25K miles to wear them down to about 20% left. Id say thats pretty good given how soft they are and how hard I am on them and they never let me down. I never got stuck in my 2WD 4runner in the mud!

Wash the sidewalls with Super Clean degreaser. Spray on, agitate with a stiff brush, let it sit for 30 seconds, rinse thoroughly. Repeat until you're seeing white foam instead of yellow/brown when you agitate. This may take 4 or 5 repetitions. I always do it as step 1 in my vehicle wash process. Protect sidewalls with water based dressing instead of silicone. Carpro PERL is one option. -sincerely, professional detailer

The tire shine is what causes the tires to turn brown from the very first time it was put on. Clean with super clean or Ajax and a good stiff brush

Just a heads up on the brown color.. These have high silicone, and highly weather resistance. I have BFG Comp 2 AS + on my Subaru STI And they are kickass in rain, and snow.. Same brown discolor. Same on my Acura TLX AWD. I have the factory Bridgestone AS tires.. Again, high silicone, kickass in foul weather.. Browning. to me, its an acceptable trade off for keeping me, and my family safe. I have the same Falken P rated on my 4Runner. Brown, and I was happy to see it. Because the stock Nitto's were like ice skates in the rain, and I was stoked to have a good AT-AS tire.. I'll see how they do on the trails.. Happy trails my friend..

Hey man, there was a rumor floating around in 2020 that the Falken's rubber compound was changed, I didn't know what to make of it! After watching your video? I think it's probably true. 1x 2021 tire wearing real differently than the other 3 that aren't? Hard to ignore! If you're thinking of other A/T tires to run? My 2 favorites are the BFgoodrich KO2, and the Toyo AT3. Duratracs are under-rated, they aren't bad, but they're 3rd. BFGoodrich's rubber was great, it had grip to spare on like everything. Even as it got cold, those tires were grippy. 3PMSF rated for heavy snow - and through a bunch of snow storms, they were awesome. I loved those tires and would run them again. Supposedly when they get old? They get loud and don't evacuate water as well. I'm closing in on 1 year with the Toyo AT3s, and they've been good too. I think the rubber compound is a smidge harder, but still 3PMSF rated. The KO2s had "mushy" sidewalls, at least on a 1500truck (with Erated tires), the Toyos are solid. On dry pavement the AT3s have good lateral grip due to how much rubber is contacting the road, really neat vs the duratracs. The Toyos break traction a little more in the rain vs the KO2s, but it's totally predictable, you have to give it tooo much go pedal when wet out. When they do break traction? They track straight. They don't push the truck's rear end left or right fishing for traction. Really excellent. Unless I go up a tiresize, I'll likely be driving these until they wear out. Toyo was benchmarking the Falken AT3Ws when they were making the AT3s, you might find them to be a good choice after those, a "successor" if you will, if you miss how they used to be!

Very informative! I sadly was on a budget and got a set of Kenda Klever ATs in 285-70-17 for $720 free shipping. Good tire for the price but nit as good as the falkens.

On my 4th set of wildpeaks. Never had an issue with any of them turning brown lol. My most recent set I bought for my f150 super crew 4×4, they seem to be wearing better than my older sets. I rotate every 5000 and keep up on front end maintenance too though. They go off road almost every weekend and have held up superbly!

The tire is the wildpeak. The brown is the wilderness. They use rubber but also nature energy within the compound. Brown. Just like the dirt we were made of.. to remind us that we're apart of nature and it's only our natural habitat to be outside :)

Appreciated the review! Where did you get your FJ Cruiser/Trail Edition/TRD Off Road Wheels? I've been on the hunt for my 5th gen 4runner, and they're my favorite. I love them. Too expensive from a dealer, kinda sketchy from ebay.

That thing is heavy and Falken supposedly changed their compound so they last a lot longer. Try Yokohama Geolandar G015. They do not disappoint.

Sold it and have a tesla now but I definitely did consider the geolanders. My stock tesla tires only lasted 10k miles with how I drive. I’m not easy on cars.

No way I could get them to warranty tires that were bought on amazon, installed on a 2wd 4runner then a AWD lexus and had miles of offroad, racing, and burnouts.
