I've been running KO2s on my two 4-Runners in WA, CO, UT, NV and CA back country, since they replaced the KOs, and can confidently say your review is spot on. They hit the sweet spot of being really good at everything except gooey clay mud. I am getting over 40k miles before thinking of replacing them, and have never had a flat. I'd add one thought - they also stay in balance remarkably well. I run 275s. Great review.

Nope... slip sooo fast in mud, wear poorly, balance poorly, hydroplane easily... very not worth the money unless you live in the southwest and are willing to rotate them every 3k miles, or deal with bad ride and noise after the first 5 or 6k miles.

Living in British Columbia, Canada we get 4 seasons plus we are Coastal so lots of rain/snow to quickly change the dry road you just rode in on. The M+S or Snowflake symbol is enforced regulation over our high mountain passes during winter. Travel corridors such as our #5 Coquihalla Hwy can suddenly offer snow over the summit in May/June when everything else is clear and dry. My work has me driving 3-4 hrs out on a weekly basis so there is always a handful of changing road & weather conditions I face on a regular basis not to mention our own recreational activities. My wife & I run KO2 A/T's on our Jeeps (daily drivers) and on our little Tracker (our street legal side by side). Been using KO2's since they came out in 2015. Not afraid to wheel hard with them. Yes, the M/T's are better for the dedicated off-road & mud however I'm specifically talking A/T's here as we are running a heavy sum of highway kilometers/miles. Summary: Even at less than 75% tread here's my feedback: For light-mid duty vehicles I'm set on the KO2's. For heavy duty, I see them being used however I personally would do more comparing with other brands/types if I ran a heavier duty rig (just my honest opinion) in more demanding conditions. Talk to the logging, mining & oil field operational folks for better feedback. That said ... KO2 A/T's Heavy rain/pooling on hwy - no major hydroplaning issues. Keeping in mind I'll run a set for 3 years, all year, without swapping. Snow - very good traction. Deeper snow, well that depends on your clearance. My Jeep has 4.5" lift on 33's x 12.5 with locker. I'm happy! Carry chains? Our other Jeep (stock) has 31's × 10.5 & 235's on the 'Zuke' ... all are happy all year round. Ice - In the past I ran studded Blizzak tires and yes they were awesome however I'd get pulled over for running studs in the city after driving back down from the high mountain pass. With or w/o studs they tended to hydroplane in the lower valley wet/melt conditions. Running the KO2 A/T's during icey conditions with a bit of weight I'm staying on the road still, starting/stopping with minimal slip. Basically not driving like a moron is the key. No such thing as 4 wheel stop on ice so 'Slow the hell Down!' Mud - KO2 A/T's slip a bit more however it hasn't left me at all devastated. Whereas my buddy with the M/T's (same general tread wear) will keep fairly straight I might fish tail a tad. We're talking +5% differance but not enough for my tears 😭 to start flowing. Again, what's your weight, clearance, capability & experience? And, ...don't bite into more than you can 'chew'! Sandy beaches etc. Not bad! I have a bit more 'float' on the 12.5's especially when aired down however our other Jeep on its skinnier 10.5" wide KO2's does practically as good. Hey, ... pick an intelligent line and don't dig down! Rocks & Rocky Terrain - I have enjoyed the performance of the KO2 A/T's on rock +80%. Have not slit my sidewalls...🤔 yet. Conclusion: Great tires if you do a lot of highway but like to go run off and explore overland at a moments notice. Fairly popular & easy to find them in any town that sells tires if you do happen to destroy one. Reasonable price point. There are better tires for dedicated mudding, rock crawling, stump-jumping, or crushing cars like Bigfoot. For your daily driver the KO2 A/T's are very much worth one's time and money to discover.

They absolutely crush it in the rocks, and do surprisingly well in the peanut butter mud we tend to get here in Colorado. I've had them for 2.5 years, and was very happy BFG made the LT285/70/17 in a C Load Rating after I asked them to for several months. This allowed me to keep most of the acceleration and braking performance, while having a much tougher tire for the off roading I do.

Great honest accurate review. Thanks for that .I have run BF Goodrich all terrain tires in their various forms for 40 years. Where I live on SaltSpring Island I am at the end of a 11 km logging road built with sharp shot rock, shale mud and snow in winter . Some of my neighbours have run other tires and eventually switched to the BFG,S . In 40 years I have only destroyed 1 of these tires and it was totally my fault , spinning in sharp shale and destroyed the sidewall. I am 60 now but used to wheel pretty hard had various vehicles over the years that always had front and rear lockers ,winches front and back and custom suspensions . These vehicles were used while I worked in the patch and logging as well and the tires never let me down. My current rides are a chev 3500 crew cab long box with lockers front and back and winches . This unit has a 100 gallon double wall slip tank in it and various chain saws and crap and corruption in it all the time. I use it to pull a 8000 lb 26 ft crew boat on a tandem axle trailer . Tires are often carrying a great deal of weight under severe conditions and they stand up well. If they did not I would use something else. My other ride is a 1953 Dodge M-37 and unfortunately I keep it bone stock so BFG does not make a bias ply all terrain in 9x16 tube type tire otherwise I would give them a try so I am stuck with the military non directional tires that last about 10,000 miles at best and are like driving on billiard balls on wet pavement.

Great way to do a review, I really appreciate the thought you put into all of your tech videos. I'm not sure on the KO2s but many of these ATs (like my Grabber ATXs) have a Severe Snow rated version (3PMS) and non-3PMS version which will give you a softer/tackier compound at the expense of longevity. Besides for daily driving on snowpacked/icy Montana highways, really impressive on deep snow and wet rocks with the softer rubber.

I'm on my second set, and am amazed how well they wear. The most durable tire I've ever used. Plus, they are practically run flat tires. I unknowingly drove to California and Back to Oregon twice(On and off road) with a big screw in one of them, and never had a flat.

I've had Bfg all Terrains on my jeep for that last 16 years, 33in and now 35in. I liked them enough to put a set of 32in on my expedition. Couple weeks a go I got to try them out on trail 22 windrock park and I was really impressed how they handled the slick clay mud on that trail although nothing was deep like a mud bog just wet rocks and rutted out hills . I had them at 15psi no beadlocks. So if you drive alot and still want a capable tire then I'd recommend the BFG all terrains.

I’ve used a lot of different tires over the years. Always end up back at KOs and now KO2s. No, they aren’t the best for some things, they’re ATs, they aren’t supposed to be the best for some things. BUT, for the price, they wear well and do most things satisfactorily . They’re pretty quiet on the road, they do sand , some mud, they aren’t mud tires , but can get you through normal mud you may happen upon. I live in the south, so snow is just not on the menu, but I’m told they do ok, I wouldn’t know. I run them on everything truck we have, from the k5 blazer to the 2500 Hd Duramax , The wrangler, all out stuff. I’m done trying new stuff, for an AT, these just work for me.

I've been running the Goodyear MTR w/ Kevlar. 33x12.5/15 Nothing but praise. They are amazing offroad and handle extremely well on the road. And despite being a daily driver and putting on 40+ miles per day, i end up having to replace them due to age long before the tread wears down enough for replacement. All you have to do is make sure your alignment is set and you rotate them every oil change.

I didn’t take care of them, I never rotated them and should’ve kept up with my Jeep’s alignment, imo my KO2’s would’ve probably lasted for 110 thousand miles. Best tires I’ve ever owned.
