Well, John Walker has gone off the deep end (just like he does in the comics). After the new Captain America murdered a man on camera, the Falcon and the Winter Soldier is about to shift into high gear. Will the government now make Sam the new Cap? How will the Flag Smashers retaliate after the brutal death of one of their own?
We break down all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Easter Eggs, the Zemo Dance Party, and explain the connections to Black Panther and Civil War in “The Whole World is Watching.”

He also shot the dude that was, if I'm not mistaken, making the super soldier serum which was completely unnecessary. While, yes, if you keep the serum scientist alive it will produce many more super soldiers..but the same thing applies to technology. People are still going to keep developing incredibly powerful weapons of mass destruction anyway even without the serum. There wasn't a reason to kill the man. Zemo is morally imbalanced. I do paid attention to the the writing and what zemo is talking about. He still has a strong hatred for superpowered beings both good and evil. @@spin.chicken To be fair, that was him improvising. His actual plan at the start of the film had to change when the Hydra agent he was torturing wouldn't talk. I think his original plan was just to kill the 'crazy' Winter Soldiers and break up the Avengers by telling Tony about the Winter Soldier killing his parents. Though instead of targetting the Avengers as a whole he probably should've just targeted Stark since the two male Starks tend to be the source for a lot of MCU's earth-based problems. Howard - Vanko Sr. , 'Zola, modern' Hydra, Hank Pym leaving Shield, the recovery of the tesseract, some super soldier serum variants Tony - Stane, Vanko Jr., Ultron, Vulture, Mysterio, the Insight Carriers, the Chitari portal, AIM/ 'fake' Mandarin, the accord-based team split in civil war, final fight of Civil War... I mean a good chunk of Tony's character arc is just him trying to fix mistakes, making more mistakes, and needing his friends to help him fix them.

As a German I can tell that Daniel Brühl is truly one of our best contemporary actors and he's doing a fantastic job in Hollywood now, him playing Zemo was truly a great choice. We got more great actors here that Hollywood should spot sooner or later, but they shouldn't just check out the blockbuster movies. Brühl was lucky that he played in one (Goodbye, Lenin), but usually the most talented actors we have play in smaller indie movies or arthouse productions. Tom Schilling and Jonas Nay for instance.

The title refers to Black Panther. The scene where he is getting ready to kill klaue after he crashes Klaues vehicle. Klaue has hands up and is yelling mercy as T’Challa says every breath you take is mercy from me. As he gets ready to kill klaue, Okoye runs up behind him and says in wakandan ( no king, the world watches). He looks around and sees the crowd has gathered and Is taking photos. As the representative of his nation he takes this into account and he stops. John Walker didn’t stop. He went all the way in the exact same situation. It’s about the measure of the man. Remember that Steve always had a person he could turn his face to at whenever he lost someone important. He lost Bucky, but he had Peggy. When Peggy died, he had his friends in the Avengers. When he went rogue, he had Sam and Bucky. Everybody says Steve is the paragon of righteousness but forgot to mention he was never in a position of complete helplessness even before the serum. John? Dude was nearly alone, a perfect human soldier who was pitted against superhuman threats. He was chosen for a job that he wasn't exactly cut up for. When he tried to get help, the only thing he got was sneers and dismisses that he didn't even know what he did even do to earn Sam and Bucky's attitude. With Lamar died and nobody was there to give him the support he needs, John of course follows his impulse. I hope John got his shit together and Sam got off his high horse and talk to him. Really. John is the exact kind of trouble veterans Sam had been helping over the years, but he got butthurt that John was someone who was selected to replace his best friend.

@@korawitbuttramee618 John Walker is symbolic of a lot of systemic problems in America. Steve chose Sam for many of the same reasons that Erskine chose Steve. Sam didn't feel worthy of the shield, and after being pressured by the government, returned it to them. They even put it into an exhibit for a day. Then, presumably knowing what Steve wanted, turned right around and introduced a new Captain America. A white, blonde, blue-eyed Cap. Sam's reaction to Walker's introduction makes it clear that no one told him they were going to do this. So not choosing Sam, who Steve chose, and choosing generic white-bread John Walker, sends a message: black doesn't represent America. The most unrealistic part of all this is that there will probably be consequences for John's actions.

At the beginning, when Bucky is talking to the Dora Milaje, the camera has a top-down view. The stone is completely split; Bucky standing on the dark stone, and Ayo is standing on white. This shows that Bucky and Ayo are viewing the situation from two completely points of view. Also, look how there is a path in the center. Bucky is only partly on the path, and Ayo is dead center. Does that mean Bucky is only partly on the path that Ayo set for him after she rehabilitated him in Wakanda? Just after this, in the apartment, Zemo says, "There has never been another Steve Rogers, has there?" Then the camera DIRECTLY centers on Sam for a brief second. That is foreshadowing that Sam will become the next Captain America.

It seems like there was some theme about children in this, Sam talked about when his aunt died when he was younger, the super soldier was a fan of Captain America when he was kid, Zemo liked the parties but didn't understand the politics, and Karli talked about being raised as an orphan. The conversation between Walker and Hoskins about the Medal of Honor is important and people don't talk about it, and the ignorance of it distorts and misreads many of Walker's intentions and motivations. Walker talking about the medals representing the worst day of his life and feeling shame for it instead of pride is a common feeling among real life MoH recipients, those events are usually the worst days of their lives when everything goes wrong and they can't save everyone and having those medals can feel like a burden of being called a hero for something they never wanted, just like Walker has been thrust into the Captain America position despite never asking for it either. Walker taking the serum is connected to his wartime trauma of feeling like he failed saving lives, hence why Hoskins' line ends with "think of all the lives we could have saved that day if we had that serum" - lives that Walker failed to save and would have felt a heavy survivor's guilt over. Actually, much of Walker's trauma is ignored in favor of heightening his "villainy". You mention the Flag Smasher, Nico, being a Captain America fan being killed by a Captain America, but you do not mention that this same person who is a Cap fan also actively helps Karli plan Captain America's assassination and murder just so they can send a powerful symbolic message, and was in fact in the process of trying to do that when they killed Hoskins instead.

“The world is watching” - also a reference to Black Panther. T’Challa was being watched when he had to decide how to deal with Klaue. Like Steve Rogers, he wasn’t corrupted by being super powered. Not only does this connect to Wakanda once again; it also highlights the major difference between those who try to live up to the symbol, versus those hungry for power.

The black and white flag on a military uniform typically is used for soldiers who are deployed, not wanting a bright red and blue symbol for snipers to identify easily. Now that I’m thinking about it it’s kind of ironic to have that on captain America who caries a huge red and blue shield.

I really like how they are really making you empathise with Walker's character. His character has flaws, but they have done an amazing job of making them understandable, I think most people can understand how John has ended up the way he is, and it isn't like he wants to be bad. I think there is a hero of sort in there, maybe more of an anti hero but it's been amazing character development throughout.

In the Marvel Universe, John Walker, he has earned a position as a villain. However I will point out that, one temporary insanity is a legitimate defense, and that many people upon the loss of a close friend would have a hard time not immediately seeking revenge. Maybe this could be an interesting pole. Imo John is a more relatable person than most Avengers.
