To enforce her position, she gave Karli serum as test and to get "muscle". Karli had her own plans. The fight at doc was other faction. She took sam/buck, cause she had no more use for nagel. He had already laid the egg. And she wanted them out of her backyard. And zemo would be safe with bucky/sam, so no problem. But zemo found weapon. Then suddenly "we have problem." She said it to Bucky and Sam: hero stuff is "hypocrisy". B/W also said it: taking orders from bad people -- so who is right and who is wrong. Sharon knew this too. So after C/W, she figures all sides are same and hypocrites -- all about power. She figures hide, lay low, and then why work for anyone but herself. While both sides gamble with blood and treasure to get their way, she's going to play the house. House always wins. And so when she saw opening after dusting, she became leader of P/B. She playing smart. Friends to both sides. Collect art that she loves. Keeping it all on DL. 20 vials. 8 taken. I only count 7 Flags. What happened to 8th? Karli. The one who died to buy time let them take off. The one walker killed. The one who died in van. 3 killed in truck. That's 7 not 8. What if Sharon is the 8th ... Lol. Now let's say she's 8. Let's say she has Nagles notes. Could she use own blood for more soldiers? Wouldn't it be cool if by end of season 2, she revealed to be super. And in season 3, she has troop of soldiers. And fight between val/sharon troop. Of course could be other way around.

Thank you! Just because they showed her mugshot doesn't mean she was snapped in The Blip. Ant Man wasn't snapped away, so there are 2 ways of looking at it. They would think her snapped, due to her going into hiding in Madripoor to start her business plan, which obviously few in the five years of The Blip.

This theory kinda of makes sense. I've always been a bit iffy about Sharon because of a minor detail in Civil War. She gives Cap and Sam intel that the officers going after Bucky for the bombing have a "shoot on sight" order. Which they never do. They come up to his apartment, chase after him, arrest him and take him into custody. If they already knew where Bucky was, why didn't they just get a sniper to finish the job? I chalked it up to a plot hole but it could've been Sharon providing misinformation for stir Steve up into not trusting any government agency and relying on her word.

Peggy's brother's name was Michael Carter...and he too faked his own death. He also shot Thompson... Maybe she isn't related to Hydra...maybe she's related to the Arena Club... As Season 3 of Agent Carter never came out, we never know what really happened...

Interesting. It’s easy to think oh she was just in love with Steve so that’s why she was so helpful but Fury didn’t let her in on him being alive. Told Steve she never told Peggy she was watching him. Yeah I can totally go with this. I bet Feige has a board that goes up to phase 10. He gave the writers the things that had to happened and then him and story group approved script for continuity. The writers said they only knew the story they were telling and if they got a no they knew not to ask why.

This is what’s fun about marvel they leave so many open doors to play on different twist years later. They might not know what else to do with your character then but they leave the door so open, that they can twist the original plot of the character. I’m sure when they cast her for winter solider they had no idea they would use her in this capacity later.

In regards to why she gave up Nagel, I think it’s because she saw the opportunity to infiltrate the CIA in her former position as a far more valuable strategic position. From madripor, if she wants to consolidate power, she has to build a literal army to fight the superheroes and armies of the world. But from the CIA she can have a more shadowy hand on the wheel just like the hydra operatives during operation paperclip. I don’t think she anticipated them killing him, but she knew Sam would keep his word about getting her back to the US and he did.

I think Sharon expected Sam and Bucky to keep a better eye on Zemo and perhaps even checked to see if he’s armed. They go out of their way to show Zemo sneaking the gun when no one’s looking to emphasize that it wasn’t expected

He is definitely a lawful evil type character. He certainly isn't a good guy but he has a code. He is still selfish in his pursuits and cares little for human life after losing his family. I always like when good characters are forced to ally with "evil" characters for some common goal. I think that is why Loki is so popular among fans too. Though I'd classify Loki as chaotic evil, he does get chances to work alongside Thor quite often.

Sharon not becoming the Power Broker until the chaos that ensued from The Snap makes a ton of sense. With a whole world in upheaval and roughly half of the criminal power players turned to dust in Madripoor, it's the perfect time for someone to step up and carve out a niche for themselves and then quickly build that niche into a growing empire of power as other rivals fall inline. It's also worth noting, that if she didn't turn evil until the snap, her rise to power coincides with the same time frame that Clint Barton was traveling the world killing organized criminals, which would have made her goals that much easier, since she could offer stability in a time when every major crime boss felt like a target.

@@Dismas444 It also makes her character more interesting and compelling, if she genuinely believed in the values she learned from her family, only to reject them after years of being left twisting in the wind and on the run and the temptation of being as powerful and wealthy as the kind of people she'd fought against was too strong for her to resist. Sharon being evil from day one and just waiting for the right moment to strike is boring and overdone.

It doesn't make any sense at all. She was just a spy. Seizing control of the criminal empire and controlling a lawless city-state by herself? She's barely useful in fights against a few goons and at most we've seen her, what, flirt with Steve while pretending to be a nurse and steal stuff one time, getting fingered for the deed in the process? Suddenly possessing the power and ruthlessness to achieve such a feat would be bizarre given what we've seen her character do thus far. Similarly, my understanding is the Power Broker is a bit of a significant player in the comics. Not Thanos level perhaps, but Kingpin level, right? Unless this is the last we see/hear of the Power Broker, there's no way it's her, if only because she's quite uninspiring as a character and the reveal after all that mystery was a wet fart. I'd be surprised if they whiffed the Power Broker so badly that it really is Sharon after all. Especially with La Contessa Selena Meyers running around begging to be a really entertaining villain in the future.

@@BigMikeMcBastard Just a spy? Naw. A spy who'd successfully eluded the government for two years and who's career had survived the collapse of SHIELD. And, again, this cannot overstated, the world was in complete turmoil and chaos. Half the people were gone in an instant. That creates the kind of power vacuum that's very easy to fill. One person, remaining calm and collected, who knows how to weather the storm and roll with the punches when shit's going crazy, can rise up very highly very fast. Look at world history and you can see all sorts of unlikely people rising up to power in bizarre circumstances because they were in the right place at the right time.

Sharon didnt get snapped, she was in hiding. You do not become a power broker over night. After the snap, a lot of powerful underground people got snapped and the fact that Hawkeye hunted down the remaining criminal warlords. Within that years, Sharon probably took this opportunity to become the power broker. She became bad because the government who she defended with her life turned their back on her. She was probably pissed that none of the Avengers ever attempted to help Pardoned her.

I honestly suspect Sharon of being a Skrull. With both Cap Marvel and Fury off planet and we know Disney is working on Secret Invasion, there is no one around who knows about the Skrulls.

Marvel's inclusion of Madripoor and the Power Broker in such a secondary and non-consequential way, and with the unsurprising Sharon-is-PB reveal, it feels like this was all laying groundwork for future stories

I really like this theory. In fact, even if this isn't what Feige had planned, he should pick it up and run with it. Some alternatives that work with the theory 1. Zola/Hydra, the Ten Rings/the Mandarin, Val, and the Power Broker are all working together in a shadow government alliance. 2. The Power Broker isn't one person, but several people. Sharon is just one of them. 3. Zola is in charge of everything, manipulating all of the other players: Mandarin, Val, the Power Broker. He is Hydra, there is no other Hydra. By keeping to the shadows and manipulating these other organizations, they act as Hydras various heads (cut one off, and more grow back), while Zola is the body of Hydra.

A lot of people are calling Skrull on this one and I think there might be hints in the series. Maybe I’m reading into this too much, but could Sharon hoarding original paintings in Madripoor whilst the fake paintings are out in the world be a hint at this Sharon being a Skrull? In addition I think her using the disguise-o-mesh in the finale might be planting the idea in our heads that the face we as the audience see is not her actual face. Also without Spider-Woman in the MCU she could potentially take the role of Queen Veranke in Secret Invasion, making the big reveal mean something due to her connection to Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D

Yeah the whole power broker plot line was kinda ripped straight out of Mass Effect.

I can see her being jaded dealing with shield being a failure and Hydra being a failure deciding to go her own way in the end

Very interesting video! I really didn’t enjoy episode 3 and found it totally confusing with really weird pacing. But this video really helped break down all the small moments and words shared between the characters (well, mostly just what Sharon said) and how it contributes to a larger story and plan. Thanks, Ryan!

I believe Sharon is the Spiderwoman of the MCU--the deep Skrull spy implanted in the Super Hero community. I see her as the main person behind selling Ironman tech in the future show, then to be quietly taken down by Nick Fury in the Secret Invasion show--only to come out of a Skrull prison to return to her true heroic future later.

I always thought that the picture of Sharon in the list of the “Vanished” was a diversion. Ant-Man was also on the list, but then we find out that he was actually stuck in the Quantum Realm from the second Ant-Man movie. I believe that it is kind of the same situation with Sharon. Sharon wasn’t actually gone, she just was still hiding. Maybe she didn’t feel encouraged to tell the others that she was still alive because she was already making a living in Madripoor.

Zola in a robot suit that can access the internet should be the Power Broker. He could access satellites, security cameras and people’s phones and laptops... literally the Power Broker would always be watching

I like the detail that Bucky directs Sharon to take care of a Flagsmasher in the last episode, but she allows him to complete his task (locking up the hostages) before killing him. Bucky thought she'd stop him, he trusted her.

Everyone keeps saying she was blipped. We know that being on that screen only means that no one knows where you are. We know that because Scott Lang. So if she was hiding in Madrapoor, her friends would think she was blipped simply because she hadn't been seen since the snap. So we need to get past this blip idea.

Why does Sharon have to be working with a partner or a boss? She is sneaky and ruthless all on her own. Your Sharon being in Hydra theory makes a lot of sense. She was not a true believer, but using Hydra to further her own ambitions. She doesn't have to have been snapped, as if the remaining Avengers can't find her, the assumption would be that she was snapped. Zemo didn't know the Power Broker as he told Sam and Bucky that he only knew him by reputation. So Sharon could have a lieutenant who also may or may not be the Power Broker 'face' the underworld sees and that is who she was talking to. I don't necessarily see Zemo and Sharon working together, especially as Zemo wants to get rid of super soldiers and Sharon was working on making them. But your idea of helping Zemo create a power vacuum by breaking up the Avengers, makes a lot of sense. Sharon would have also trusted Sam and Bucky to keep a leash on Zemo and they did not as it was not their focus. Sharon likely planned to get them all out and blow up the lab. I think she would have said that she would have taken care of turning in Nagle, while planning on setting him up somewhere else instead. Zemo blew up that plan by shooting Nagle without Bucky and Sam realizing what he was going to do until too late. Now with her back in the US government's good graces, she can work with tech instead of biology, ala Tony Stark. The episode was called powerbroker because the entire plot of the episode was about trying to find the powerbroker. It doesn’t mean that the powerbroker would necessarily be in the episode, it just means it’s about them.

@@sackthebastard LOL... so it's a coincidence that Sharon appears in the same ep (titled as such) & who also happens to be the Powerbroker? Maybe watch more series to pick the obvious clues. They don't title the episodes for nothing.

I don't think she was Hydra, but rather her being shuned down for helping steve and being on the run with her hero friends forgetting about her probably until the snap. Half the criminals in Madripoor being gone + Ronin assasinating criminal organisations was is what led to her becoming bad. As she even says it to sam and bucky that all that hero stuff is ridiculous. I hope we get her with some big evil plot in the future..

So.. the episode she shows up in is called "The Power Broker".. I assumed that's who she was when we saw how much money/connections she had. Honestly it was super obvious from the start.

They tried to make Sharon seem like the bad guy for shooting Karli (to save Sam while nearly bleeding out) and for being the Power Broker (in retaliation for the government's mistreatment of her) when she's far more sympathetic than Karli was. The writers need to listen to feedback from viewers for season 2 cause the characters they wanted us to hate (Sharon, John and Zemo) end up being loved while the characters they do want us to like (Karli) end up being hated.

Yesss! I like this theory a lot. Sharon's behavior in Civil War was kind of bizarre, going way beyond helpful to the point of pushing an agenda. In the episode where they went to Madripoor, again too much stuff lined up just perfectly, and it seemed to me that Zemo knew she was the Power Broker. I like that you caught that she killed Selby, and all those other people, and simultaneously put a hit on the three of them so they had to ask her for help when she showed up. Then she was able to find out what they'd learned, but it was clear from her reaction that she was not happy they learned about Nagle. She does a lot of subtle acting with her expressions and side looks, and the look she shares with Zemo made me immediately assume they already knew each other.

Sharon wasn’t snapped, they just thought she was, as they did Scott, because she was in deep cover in Madripoor rebuilding herself.

Peggy's brother's name was Michael Carter...and he too faked his own death. He also shot Thompson... Maybe she isn't related to Hydra...maybe she's related to the Arena Club... As Season 3 of Agent Carter never came out, we never know what really happened...

Season one was about protecting Captain's legacy from John...what if, not it's about protecting Peggy's legacy cause now Sharon is being called us "Agent Carter". I know Carter is their family's last name, but it feels weird when someone is spoiling their family's name...

She's his niece. She said her and her Aunt Peggy were close and in this universe Peggy lived out the rest of her life with Captain America from the 50s onward. Meaning Sharon had to know she was kissing her uncle(as a young man) even if Captain America didn't know. And by the time she was born (and we can assume Peggy was around beings Sharon said they where close) Steve(as a old man in at least his 80s) looked at that baby and said "I've made out with you/ had romantic feelings for you". 🤔🤔🤔 There was literally no worse charactuer for them to have paired him with, long term wise.

@@spoons250 Actually, when Steve went back in time to live out his life with Peggy, that created an alternate universe where Steve returned to love with Peggy. That means that Steve isn’t Sharon’s uncle in this universe, just in an alternate universe. Though it is still weird that he kissed the niece of his first lover.

@@spoons250 Rewatch Endgame my guy. They explain the time travel in it and how you cannot alter the past. That's why they couldn't kill Thanos as a baby, and it's why Steve can't possibly be related to the Sharon Carter we've seen. The screen writers not understanding their own screenplay is embarrassing but it should only be embarrassing for them.

I think I found 1 more clue! Sharon has an awful lot of mens' clothing in her apartment. Different sizes, too. Seems odd. But if she's a Skrull she would need different outfits to impersonate different people.

I think Bucky said it best when he points out "She's kinda mean now". And he was right!!! I really hope this is accurate, because otherwise Sharon became a villain because she was "scorned" by the guys ignoring her (like they didn't spend the rest of the time after civil war and before the snap on the run as well), and that really pisses me off.

Yes!!! Totally agree with this analysis. I also think that it is not just her involved in their pb role. I think that it was always a role and she placed herself into it during the blip since the real one disappeared. When the real pb came back, she took him her out to save herself. So she didn't really have to start from scratch but she did work hard to maintain and grow her business. Kinda like Wesley from The Princess Bride when he took the role of the infamous The Dread Pirate Roberts!!!

Sharon's (after being pardoned) is a Skrull talking to Zemo (you know he has a cell phone stashed in his cell someplace)

I was hoping that the Power Broker would be either the actual Mandarin from Shang-Chi or a new version of Zola. This was somewhat disappointing. However, if they end up going through with this theory, I’ll be on board

speaking of the Monet right after talking about how Sharon might not actually be the Power Broker: I think that gives more credence to that idea where the painting could parallel her role in the operation, where she's the mother taking care of the actual Power Broker, who would be the child in the painting that's actually the painter himself.

I like how they switched her and madam hydras personas , the mcu does this sometimes to keep us guessing and keep it fresh . Also I’m a big fan of her long legs , she looks more athletic now than she use to , been putting in the work 💪🏼
