For what it's worth, this game always interests me as an early example of it's style. Heavy Rain would only come out 5 years later and The Walking Dead a whole 7 years after Fahrenheit, sure it's surpassed by both of them, but it's still always interesting. Besides, this is to David Cage what Death Stranding is to Kojima.

I loved this game because of the concept that you play someone who commit a crime and then someone who is inspecting that crime. Also, the atmosphere was spot on, in the begin it was really heavy stuff, how Lucas was mentally suffering from something he didnt even commit himself. The game was wacky, sure but at the same time it delivered some feelings, an interesting concept and i liked the variety of the gameplay too.

Just picked up & rapidly played through this game recently-- what a trip. I first heard of this game in Computer Gaming World magazine where it received great reviews. I had such a crystal clear recollection of playing through the opening diner sequence from the magazine's demo disc that when I replayed it, 16 years later, I was able to glide through the crime scene cleanup without missing an interactable. Whether I'm clouded by nostalgia or not, the rest of the game failed to hold up to that opening sequence (except for when I saw Angelo Badalamenti's name in the opening credits), but was still interesting and enjoyable enough to warrant a playthrough. This game has always held a unique place in my head; I had such vivid memories of the game even though my experience was limited to a review and a demo. No one I know had heard of this game either, it has been an exclusive memory dwelling in my mind for over half my life at this point. It was definitely an interesting experience to finally jump into the game. Thanks for the video, cheers!

Furthest I ever got in this game was waking up in the apartment after the opening diner murder scene, where I wandered around in my underwear and proceeded to interact with literally everything- as you do in an adventure game- until I took the antidepressants and then drank wine and died fucking immediately, at which point I was so bored that I accepted that as my canon ending and haven't played or thought about the game once since then.

Indigo Prophecy is legit amazing... in the same way that Mystery Science Theater 3000's Manos and The Hands of Fate, Brute Man, or Gamora vs Guiron is amazing. It is a timeless classic of terrible cinema in game form, best enjoyed by watching others mock it mercilessly. It's the closest thing to "The Room" of the video game world. Omikron The Nomad Soul is the closest David Cage ever got to Indigo stupid in any of his other work, but Indigo Prophecy was definitely his magnum opus.

"Who likes this shit?" - I liked it when it came out. Genuinely. I had never seen QTEs before. They made me think that you could start putting much more complex stuff into games than conventional control allowed. I loved the mystery at the start, the cleaning up of the crime scene just to then play as the investigators and analyse the same crime scene. I liked the Matrix parts too because I was a huge fan of the Matrix. I was a young teenager. Looking back today, I agree with everything people say about it. It did not age well. But I appreciate they were trying something new, even if it fell short. Plus, it's so insane, it's fun.

You never forget the first time you take pills and accidentally drinks whisky and you'll get the dumbest game over which makes you hate yourself for not making basic racional thinking. But in all seriousness, i love this game, and i knew when i was a kid, and i know now how bad it is. Me and my friend like to say there's the Fahrenheit part, with the supernatural murder investigation, and the Indigo Prophecy, that's the second half when the game and story goes absolutely fucking insane. But the first thing that comes in mind when i remember this game, it's gotta be the soundtrack. Both the OST with Angelo fucking Badalamenti (Composer of Twin Peaks and most of Lynch's films, also R.I.P), but the licensed songs are so great. The mix of soul music with mid-2000s hard rock is something that only David Cage(and a lot of drugs) could come out. Also, thanks for this game introducing me to Theory of a Deadman, a great band to listen while studying or working.

From a human standpoint: Mental, insane, bad gameplay but can't help but love the journey. Almost so bad it's great? This is one of the most BS games I have ever had the displeasure to play. You want your movie like experience so badly? Then make a frickin movie! This design decision just conflicts with everything else. It might be an interesting concept piece, but playing it is a nightmare. The horrendous camera and controls still give me shivers. And about this whole idea of player choices: it doesn't work. It mostly just creates a lot of lose ends to fix, resulting in an incoherent mess. We have seen this all the time by now. They still don't get it.

I actually love this game in terms of story , the way it was told and some of it's mechanics. While I do agree with you on those QTEs being way too overused in some areas, my only other criticism of this game is the romance between Carla and Lucas. It did seem forced but it could've been delivered better if given more time. But it might've been better to just have them like Carla and Tyler's relationship. Where there's no romance but partners in crime. And I do like David Cage and his games despite the feedback he gets. Sure, he has done some bad things or weird things but you gotta respect the effort he tried to put into his games. Yeah, Telltale has made better games but David's feel so personal and odd. They're also one massive story as opposed to an episodic format.

"The one anime fans are familar with, plot armor" Or you could just say bad writing but since when did anime fans ever display a monicrum of intelligence. Also, I am pretty sure Superman only got himself captured in Man of Steel so he could possibly get humanity's trust, if he breaks from the cuffs that's just one less reason for the latter to trust him. Clark is a boy scout, he isn't a blood thirsty psycho, so he isn't going to break out of the chains anyway. For me back in about 2008-2011 the ending was a bugged quicktime event that for one reason or another was buggy, forced a failure even with trainer cheats so definitely bugged if you could not even cheat through it successfully, leaving me say "what a crappy game" probably for not the first time but for that gameplay run, the last time, saw rest of it from youtube, thought "well I guess I did not miss anything I wanted to play" which was a laugh and my current theory about this "Remastered" release is that it is just a bugfix for this bug in particular among others with a twitter blue checkmark pricetag because F U if you think you are entitled to a free upgrade for broken product you paid for. I actually own the original Indigo Prophecy (and indigo prophesy so maybe it had the smeks I cannot be arsed to remember nor manually remember) and I do not have the remaster. What I can tell from the footage the remaster is not really much of anything aside "Meticulously AI upscaled textures" because the very crappy PS2 era PC UI for controllers that were in no way standardized at the time has been ported to "Remaster" boasting modern xbox and playstation controller support yet did nothing to the UI to accomidate them. I know I am getting pissed off at a david cage's worst if that even can be a competition, but it looks very much the same as I remember it which is very bad for something touting "Modern controller support" - they could not even dig and artificial intelligence up old xbox and PS2 assets. OK I actually made extra sure how the prompts looked across all versions and I could not get over the fact that simon says in stereo is in every version but somehow "Remaster" made them look more fisher price and jarring.

If David Cage directed the last 3 Star Wars films, the world would be a better place. Not because they'd be good, but because we'd love to see how hard he jumps the shark, never once letting off the gas.

I always loved that game and I played Heavy Rain and 1st part was so colorful I almost stop playing it. thankfully game became better when Jason died and Ethan and his wife separated. For me Fahrenheit is awesome game with great story. Sure story goes wild in some places, but just last 3rd goes very fast although when you see dates when some event happens, it show some time has passed. And Carla had reason to trust Lucas because she went to find evidences about other same murders where guy who did murder was caught or killed himself. And no one should criticize authorship of something. if you don' like it, don't play it but original creators must exist because only they are brave enough to tell new story unlike big corporations who always have calculations how much it will made from something and most of time they just remake-reboot things we already saw before. OG authors should be left to do what they want. Man I love Heavy Rain. Not because it's good or anything, I actually think every game Quantic Dream has put out has been varying levels of mediocre. It's just a really fun guilty pleasure to laugh at. I even nabbed the PC version when that came out to see how it held up. Luckily it didn't disappoint! Great review as always dude. I've always been interested in this game but never got around to playing it. Glad I didn't waste my time lmao. I will have to disagree with you on the voice actor part though. If a voice fits a character, be they the same race or not, then they should be the voice of said character. Same with gender since there are plenty of women who tend to play male roles such as Timmy Turner, Dexter, and even Bart Simpson. Their voices work for the character they play.

Ahh don't worry about guilty pleasures. I enjoy dumb shit. I used to get very embarrassed by it. But now it's just fun to embrace it. I hear you on the voice actor bit and perhaps I should have expanded on the reason why it annoys me in that game. Especially when the theme throughout is to embrace change and inclusionary with openly gay characters etc. So to employ an actor to play a character of colour that isn't his own goes against the entire message of the game. It's a lack of self awareness from the creatives behind it that pisses me off. I hope that makes sense.

@@ScottsGameAsylum Ah I see your point now. I'll say that is certainly ironic that they never picked up on that, but it's hard to know if that was the team's fault for doing that. After all, the team behind it is French and we don't actually know if they were the ones who localized the game into English. I can see and agree with you to a certain extent though.

You just got done talking about the literal computer bugs, yet say the AIs came out of nowhere? Cage thinks "foreshadowing" means telegraphing with light brighter than the sun since the start of his games each and every plot element. I can understand being so bored you didn't think of the bugs as virtual world whatever, but you just commented they were and still say the AIs came out of nowhere? Computer bugs crawling out of the phone, computer bugs attacking, computer bugs screwing with him when the cops stop by, computers flashing "cryptic" warnings- there is no way to miss the giant "computers are also a faction" written in giant blinking neon lights from the moon this was telegraphed so hard.
