For Harriet :)))) Unfortunately’ Candace is just one of many blacks employed by right wing Republicans to convince other black Americans that Voting against our own best interests is good for us? So she highlights WELFARE? Not admitting welfare is given to Whites, Hispanics, Italians, Chinese, Indian in fact all races but the majority being White Males. When we had the last huge financial crash it was caused by rich white males who had gambled recklessly on the stock exchange, white financial Institutions who sold toxic mortgages, banks who invested badly in high risk finance, yet? they were all bailed out with trillions of taxpayers dollars or (HANDOUT) But strangely Candace won’t bring that one up? Because it’s not on the script she handed! 20 Trillion dollars of taxpayers money has disappeared and gone unaccounted for From the Pentagon? Which is the whole of the US’s GDP for one year? Yet Candace says nothing? Because it’s about Candace making herself rich off promoting Racist rhetoric and getting sheep to follow.~

Robin Devily. I agree. The type of destructive work that Candice is commited to under the guise as she puts it " helping black communities deal with these issues" amounts to legitimation cover. Destructive aims can often be intimately ensconced in appealing personalities, articulate diction, high moral aims, wonkish policy behavior, ethnic particularity and standard white supremacist hegemonic behavior. This is why critical viligence is necessary so that personality and other charm offensive strategies do not supersede the politics and agendas that lie back of rhetorical performance. People who are destructive, untrustworthy and evince a proclivity to align themselves with morally questionable groups I don't even pretend to like. What matters to me is what institutions of power do they serve, what are their aims, agenda and politics, what types of risks would they take for something larger than themselves, do they consciously aspire to be on the right side of history and are they in progressive solidarity with what Franz Fanon referred to as " the wretched of the earth", for my own historical genesis unfolds under the latter. Candice doesn't even come close.

And they rarely report on it shit is deeper than it seems.... Candace makes is right about welfare... Just using it wrong... Her points are valid they just don't hit because of her approach towards ppl on high emotions... I like some of Harriet points but we do need to stop pointing as much and do more.... Everybody can't be a stem major or entrepreneur but they can open more doors and lay the infrastructure down.... Employment is a prob but we need to prepare for the coming times and advocate for the best schools we can get.... Universal basic income might need to go on the table due to automation but Andrew yang was ignored... Candace does leave out that incarceration played a big part in father absence but I wonder what Harriets views on Joe Bidens part in that, and does she have the stats.... Cause if I'm not mistaken they wasn't locking us up in the 50s and 60s like they did after the 94 crime bill. That shit was historic

I actually think Candace Owens is somewhat dangerous. I'm not proud to admit, I went on a slight binge watching of her videos trying to find out her appeal. She talks loud and fast, aggressively regurgitating ancient talking points that can be easily refuted with a few misplaced keystrokes into a google search engine. After all the hype it was somewhat disappointing to find all that she seems to be simply a convenient double minority talking head for the right. They can use her to push propaganda that wouldn't otherwise be accepted, because hey my talking points can't be racist or sexist because I'm a black women. Anyways good video.

Like you, I've recently watched a lot of Candace Owens in numerous settings. I feel like she is genuine at her core. Her talking points do seem to stem heavily from people like Thomas Sowell. I think she at least believes her own rhetoric which I can respect regardless of whether I agree with it or not. After watching this video, I'm not convinced that Candace is trying to deceive anyone. Facts are extremely evasive these days and EVERYONE is abusing stats, charts, and surveys as absolute facts. They are profitable tools used by everyone in media because they can spin the stats however they want or just ignore them. This video is no exception. One easy example is that bit about black college students coming out of college making less money. What percentage of those black students were in those schools on athletic scholarships? What percentage were accepted to fulfill diversity quotas regardless of academic prowess? It might not be the companies with the interview bias but the colleges that are pumping out degrees with varying levels of technical acumen. I don't know. Just an example of how the nuance really matters on both sides of the discussion. We clearly have to stomp out prejudice but we need perspectives like Candace to challenge the status quo. Without challenge, we will blindly fix problems that don't exist and/or create more problems for ourselves. In this regard, Candace Owens seems necessary to the discussion. The more we challenge and discuss, the faster we move and the more accurate our solutions.

I would consider myself moderate leaning right on the conservative side, and I appreciate how much work you put into this and how articulate you were. You bring up a few VERY solid points that I found interesting and in a couple of cases very eye opening. I want to watch some more videos from you as I believe it is super important to have these conversations and stick with the facts. I would love to see someone like Candace or a right wing leaner respond to this. Look forward to watching more of your videos. Candace said Democrats don't get the human condition, that people want to work and that the safety net disincentivizes their willingness to work. But that same condition, that same need to work, would mean that people who get benefits would not want to be on them for very long, so that they could get back to work faster. And from the few people I've known who needed help, that was true for them. Conservatives always love to claim that the middle class and poor would do so much better without any safety nets and we all should just pull ourselves up by our bootstraps. But why don't they ever expect the rich to pull themselves up by their bootstraps instead of constantly asking for handouts in the form of tax cuts? By conservative logic, wouldn't those tax cuts disincentivize the rich from making their business grow and from innovation? I mean, why work harder when you can get another tax cut so you can lay off more people? In the past, tax cuts were as high as 90% for the rich, and that was under a Republican president (Eisenhower), but we still had rich people. Why? Because maybe those high taxes made the rich people pull up their own bootstraps and work harder to replace the wealth they paid in taxes. Why don't they ever ask the rich to pull up their own bootstraps?

Thank you for the video. I am with you, “I like Candace Owens” and think she could be powerful for the black agenda if she only was willing to take up the black agenda. It seems to me that Candace Owens has been handed talking points by a media outlet and she doesn’t actually have a point of view of her own. I do believe that blacks need representation in both political parties but the agendas must be focused on the black agenda.

Your wealth level has very little to do with your intelligence level. That's a fact Americans do not seem to get. You equate money with brains. Trump is a very "huge" example of why that just isn't true. Another thing you are unfortunately equating is conservatism and intellect. The problem with Candace Owens and People who support her , is that her whole thing, movement is based off opinion and off of emotion, not facts. Candace Owen doesn't offer facts, she doesn't offer anything that can make you go "ahhhh MMMM let me go research this in a book" and Frankly I don't think that her audience cares to research because they're too busy screaming "Yes that's what i've been thinking, I agree, That's how i feel!!!!.......I don't feel like reading a book to find out if it's true or looking it up online, I don't want to be proved wrong", So they go off of emotion.

“We can do it without government handouts” Isn’t Candace from a wealthy family in Connecticut? Cos, it’s a lot easier to do what you want when you come from a privileged background. Maybe I’m a tad sensitive, as someone who survivors solely on government handouts (the Australian disability support pension). But when you have structural or even personal things in the way, sometimes you can’t do it even with all the handouts in the world! And no, the welfare state doesn’t disincentivise people from working. Otherwise, if it did, all the UBI tests would have been an immediate failure, but they weren’t. Having the stress of survival removed allows you to be a bit more active, be a bit more entrepreneurial and more creative. It allows you to go to uni if you want, where before, you couldn’t afford rent let alone tuition payments. Keeping people in poverty is what prevents people from really working.

I wish somebody would explain what the structural systemic structures of oppression are.I honestly cant understand what it means. Also, if they exist, why do other black groups do better in america than, not only African Americans, but also in many cases, better than the white majority. This would seem to debunk the whole white supremacy idea.Welfare,of which i'm a recipient, and which really kicked in around the the time of M L K,has not really helped the black community. And is probably the biggest factor in the ongoing breakdown of black families. If the father stays, the welfare goes.I'm a poor white man in poor health, and i aint no angel, but i stayed around with a woman who doesn't seem to even like me much,I aint preaching, but your children are the best thing that will ever happen to you. This young lady seems very nice. But she is telling some lies here.look at the stats.Bring up your children.Don't let them go into the system you keep banging on about,.There are terrible stats about what happens to children in foster care.If you have any decency you won't let that happen to your offspring. Its small wonder there is so much crime in the community when children are cast off because their parents have failed them, a child will struggle to have self esteem if he has been abused and feels abandoned and unloved by the parents who didn't protect him or her.I say all of this with respect.god bless

Girl, I dont know, when | was a teenager in the 90s in inner city ghetto, no one had any inclination for working, male or female. Dudes dealt and chicks collected sec 8, food stamps, welfare, etc. We partied all day and night, got into trouble, drank and basically did shit, and many of these people had multi generational welfare families. Funny thing is, when welfare reform came into effect in late 90s, somehow people managed to actually muster the desire to get jobs/training. Knowing myself, I only decided to have a baby at teenage years is because I knew I would get benefits, a place to live and not have to work. Too many benefits and not enough hardship breeds laziness.

Hey thanks for the fact check, I am a black conservative and for me I think part of the reason why alot of us conservative say we see a victim mentality is ( at least for me) I think there are a lot of things we need to fight for in terms of the broken education system, we need to allow children to go where they can get the best education and not be limited by where they live, I only see us protesting when it comes to white and black violence at least on the national stage, we should do more about others issues that you pointed out, but I never see Marches for that with Celebrities willing to give money and do videos for those causes. I had ALL brothers and I have some very successful family members who have made it in life and nothing stopped them from this and with every challenge they faced they still had success and yes, they had their fathers for the most part in their lives, and I agree, we do need to address BOTH sides of this coin, First Step Act which the President and some other blacks helped create is a starting point and more needs to be done. I am not saying there are not issues that exists horrible things do happen but at the root race is not the primary issue stopping us today, but that is what is being sold

I am reading this and just felt compelled to comment that perhaps you are just not looking for the activists who are out there fighting for better schools? They exist, definitely. If you are looking for the media to put it out there for you, that might also be a factor because that would not push the narrative and this bias. And just because you know black people who were able to reach a level of success despite all odds doesn't negate that the system has odds to begin with that just shouldn't be there, period. The narrative that black conservatives cling to is a lie. You can't hold on to that lie and legitimately want the black community to do well. I'm sorry but that's just the truth. I come from a black conservative household and it was the most toxic and cutthroat experience, because the goal is always trying to prove to white people that we are good enough to compete on an even playing field, that's the mistake. They already know we are more than equipped to do it that's why they move the goal posts, that's why Tulsa happened, that's why they killed Dr. King, and that's why social policy change is so slow. Many of us continue to do well despite all the work we put in (the exact opposite of being a victim!) and it's not moving the needle like it should because the system is set up to maintain the same inequities, the same policies they had during slavery, just a modern version. She explained in the video also that using the "victim mentality" term on just the black people who want more for themselves and not on every one else is a huge issue double standard. That is a form of gaslighting and is not ok. Borderline internalized racism, making us like crabs in a barrel and it's so upsetting to see.

@@Artemis583 agreed. I think just the term "victim mentality" presupposes that there is no actual victimization or "it's all in your head" when the reality is that the legacy of slavery, segregation, Jim Crow, mass incarceration, etc. is still being felt today. If you really want to eliminate the victim mentality, eliminate the victimization instead of just pretending it doesn't exist. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he doesn't exist. Also, OP mentions a broken education system. It's not broken lol it's doing exactly what it's supposed to do. Poor ppl are getting poorly funded education. In the words of Will Graham, "this is my design".
