F 18 Intercept Mig 29, Real Dogfight

F 18 Intercept Mig 29, Real Dogfight
US F/A-18s took the chance to do a joint training with the German MiG-29s after the German reunification. The German Luftwaffe inherited the MiG-29s from the Air Forces of the National People’s Army (East German Air Forces). So they became the first NATO MiG-29s, and allowed the NATO members to study the top weapon of the former Warsaw Pact countries. A lot of rumors have been spread about the capabilities of this top fighter jet - now they had the possibility to check and verify them.

The amazing thing that the Mig-29 pilots were actual East German Air Force pilots. A on of a kind training opportunity for all NATO pilots. Even former East German ground forces commanders to train up ground forces. One of a kind training to really get to know your potential adversaries.

This whole thing is made up of multiple different F/A 18's , for a start, two of the F/A18 are from opposing carrier fleets, one from the Pacific Fleet (designation NJ) and the other from the Atlantic Fleet ( Designation AB) also the dog fight scene is between a Swiss F/A18 and a German Mig 29, not a US F/A18 as the author has exclaimed. The training operation that the US did with Germany in was called Red October (October 2000)> The footage you see of an F/A 18 with the designation VFA-163. ID NJ-106 was actually a Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet flown by Burnett and Stackhouse in the movie Behind enemy lines.... Thank me later
