SAED missions with a F-16 warm my heart. I was part of 14th Fighter Squadron in Misawa Japan back in 1994-97. I loaded HARMs and Mavericks back then and having something like this to simulate the missions the pilots went on would have been awesome.

Lol, yeah and i almost got into a car crash with a... jet!

Low level strikes are the reason why S300 sites are well protected by short range fly killers like Tungushka/Pantsir/Tor/Sosna :) And if properly deployed one site covers other in sort of umbrella mode. So if you come from height, you are dead. And if you come licking ground, you are dead too, just a bit later :D And those launchers shall be dispersed a bit, not such cluster which is easy target for one submunition missile. + some air cover and supplementary other PVO like BUK-M in between sites and various SHORADs on ground.

@@swarajkar3086 which would indicate either them not having modern short-range systems like Pantsir to cover them or simply like Israel did, they saturated the short range system. It's all about how much money you invest before attacking/defending.

LMAO The pilots and ground forces always enjoyed the CBU drops at the range (harriers, Yuma az) but we never did use them in Afghan. All GBUs... 12s and 16s. We had no airstrips to hit, and with laser guided tech that we were testing, CBUs were just too dangerous for close air support in mountains. Plus 10,000 ft cloud canopy when surrounding mountains are at 15,000 to 20,000. Lol. Even guns 25mm SAPHEI (Semi-Armor Piercing, High Explosive, Incendiary) rounds were super sketch danger close. Anyways, Thanx for the video(edit: congrats on the subs... just keep doin' you. We like you. 👍)

15yrs ago when doing research for a military thriller I came to the conclusion that sensor-fused CBU bombs were the perfect weapon for Weasels, but it wasn't until 5yrs ago when reading Dan Hampton's book "Viper Pilot" that I got confirmation that they are indeed the preferred weapon for Weasels, along with Maverick missiles with hi-rez TV telemetry. Not sure the current state of HARMs, but in Kosovo they never killed anything, but did manage to blow up a guy's house as his electric shaver perfectly decoyed a HARM right into the guy's bathroom. LOL The problem with HARMS, aside from the fact that they are easily decoyed by $80 microwave ovens, is they aren't an area weapon, but a point weapon and modern SAMs can be split up into up to 6 different pieces and linked together with cables or microwave links, up to 300km IIRC. So the HARM might get 1-n targeting radars, but not the crews, not the missiles and not command and control facilities. This means they can regenerate in hours. As these are large systems that benefit from terrain many of the parts are spread out, but as in this case, not so much as to make sensor-fused weapons ineffective. Usually you get the generators, C&C, radar and missiles. Pretty hard to regenerate after that. Hampton is a really good writer BTW, and being a Weasel pilot makes it a very informative read. My fav chapter is "Sambush" where A-10 Warthogs play a role in the destruction of an Iraqi SAM site north of Baghdad. Interestingly, the A-10s just got the ability to launch the GBU-39 glide-bomb, which would be a great weapon vs SAM sites, mostly for taking out the C&C bunkers and missile launchers from stand-off ranges. The Warthog is the best equipped plane to deal with pop-up AA threats and to then loiter to clean up after Vipers when the BDA is being published.

What about using SDBs (Small Diameter Bombs) to kill mobile high threat platforms like the Tunguska and Tor M1? With the right guidance packages they can even hit moving targets and you. Plus you can carry A Lot of them and they can glide long distances.

As some have pointed out, HARMs are amazing at forcing the enemies to carefully select when they turned on their radars. Thats SEAD. Heres an idea for a DEAD weapon: make an MITL missile similar to the SLAM, and put a CBU 105s in there. That should do the job

Forgot to ask dude what is the music you used for the cinematic bit?

Just did a similar mission a few days ago against an air base on hoggit Syria. The base has SA-8s on all sides of the runway. I had an f-15 on CAP enter the SA-8’s ‘ring of death’ and cause them to fire. When they were reloading, I went full afterburner and dropped CBU-87s. I surprisingly survived even after I got hit by a stray SA-8. Weaseling is much more satisfying than SEAD since you can see what you kill.

OK, no pantsir s1 nothing to protect the battery? 😳 U can dodge the s300 if it was thrown somewhere by it self But with short-range AA systems u wouldn't stand a chance Considering that happening in real life tho. Yeah something else about these missiles exploding in the air at very short range for no reason. Brilliant video btw

I been watching you on Growling Sidewinder's channel and thought I would come take a look here. I liked the mission and how it was setup. The only thing I would suggest, if you can add it in is to have some short range air defense near the EW site for the S-300. That seemed pretty naked out there for how important that spot is to the S-300. An SA-9 or an SA-13 would seem appropriate or something like a ZSU-23-4 or some MANPADS. Doctrinally it would seem that something would be there to give it some defense from an air attack.

What do you think of the new HARM modes? You have so many options for engaging SAMs in the Viper it's great. I love how you can sneak around out of sight through valleys/low ground and loft the missiles up, over, and around anything without even facing the SAMs direction. I wish you could dictate how high the HARM pops up into the air, especially when you can manage to sneak in close where range isn't an issue, seems pointless for the missile to shoot up 40k+ in the air when launched from ground level just to be easily shot down

The F-16C blk. 50 from ED will not include the TFR sadly. But i think you meant the A/G radar as the 18 does right? this will come in two weeks™. 😁

That was some low flying and a real success. And some scratches gives patina. I have to ask If you tried the Viggen? It has the power Button. Aw, the later ones had the amrams. Great content and the tv.

Example, anty aircraft hand lancer " ARROW . 4 solider on different position . Aircraft under 1000meters. They shut him on same command... Chance to escape all missiles is 0%

Why SAM missiles just self-explode while you been in visual range and pretty high altitude? Another question: what type (i mean modification) of missiles used by this S-300 site. BTW perfect video, zero altitude flight was impressive

I think the missile self destroy when they loose track. Why did they loos track? Probebly because i was very close the the site, and the radar of the site have a harder time to guide them in. Im not sure tho

A necro-comment: in the last Open Beta patch the SA-10's missile performance was apparently enhanced quite a bit, so it might be "interesting" to retry this scenario ;)

I like the new early format - its invigorating. Well done. I am never sure how valid chaff/flare is when your cpn brown pants at 20 ft off the ground. Kinda feels redundant.

1 SA-8 and two ZSU-57s is not "well protected" by any stretch of the imagination. At the very least replace those with an SA-19 and two Shilkas and you have a start.... and only that... a start. However, typical site like this would be a multi-ship strike and you're just one, so I suppose you need to handicap it somehow. Nice low altitude flying.

@@myopicthunder … Who needs F-16’s - the Azerbaijani used Turkish drones to take out 2 Armenian S-300 sites along with some OSA and BUK’s guarding them! In fact they’ve so far claimed some 23 Pantsir SAMs! Granted they’ve lost a dozen Bayraktars to SAMs but at $5 million each compared to $14 million for a Pantsir or $115 million for an S-300. $60 million worth of drones for over $500 million worth of SAMs … I’d say they’ve come out ahead!??

Couldn't you use autopilot altitude and heading dials that close to the earth to reduce some of the risk? Seems like pretty flat terrain.

One thing I have noticed that no ground based defense system ever bought down an aircraft in dcs 🤔

watched many youtube videos on installing and playing. tried to upload the file to my campaign but the game does not recognize and I cant even see the file iin the game , but all the files from ED work just fine that i loaded.
