@@gillhewerfamily6550 Correct me if I'm wrong, because I'm FAAAAR from an expert, but best glide speed/aoa is a known value for a given weight right? He's not gonna catch a thermal in a kitty. What was needed at the end was more groundspeed to make it to the road at a given rate of decent, which a tail wind would have helped with would it not?

@@grifnizzle7197 it would have pushed him forward but also would have made the landing gear go through the seat. the rate of decent would increase even faster.

that was some of the best flying I've ever seen, up until that moment you died.

I once made a thread on hoggit about me feeling the g's and actually getting a good abs workout from it, people didn't really understand me and took it as a joke most of the time. I was half joking, but actually meant moments like this.

Yeah, Tempest flies in VR and he said when he first started he got such a good ab workout from it. I however am lazy and use TrackIR.

ive never been so tense watching a DCS video! that missile warning at 8:34 had me unable to breathe! was so anxiety filling, watching u guys slowly get down that hill! u guys prolly only beat that missile by a few seconds

Out of all of the moments captured in the 30+ vids in the playlist so far, this one is still by far my favorite by a long shot.

That fellow pilots was EPIC overloaded! well fricking done! . ... purple hearts postimously though

Superb flying, and action. Really enjoyed that. Landing into the rise is never a good call though :/

I wish we had gotten that last F-16, but back then the AWG-9 was locking strange things.

Admirable, you rode that bird all the way in.

This was such an amazing thing to have recorded, i come back occasionally and remember never to quit haha

MAAAAAAAN Yall were so close! Disappointing ending to such an intense situation. Now this is why DCS is amazing, the feeling you get after winning an insurmountable fight is hard to beat.

What an engaging fight, good job.

1:39 Holy hell, moving that waypoint near the bandit to give the pilot another visual cue is brilliant. At least, I think that's what you did lol.

You thought correctly, I plot an estimated intercept point so that he can keep oriented to where the bandit will be while flying down low.

It's a last resort to get more low speed maneuverability. The flaps will jam in the downward position above a certain speed and flaps deployed means no wing sweep control, so you only do it when you feel you have no other option.

That was fairly amazing

i think the f14 is the most hella noisy fighter jet. i cant understand how the pilot and rio dont get crazy to hear all those alarms all the time :-) f16 and f18 are very more quiet compared to f14

I forget at times to turn a lot of the alarms down. It's also much quieter if the bleed air is off, but the gun relies on bleed air to operate.

Does the RIO Big radar hud is linked to a datalink of the awacs? That'll explain why it seems that it can track ppl that arent directly nose on

It can receive datalink from AWACS.

That was bullshit at the end, y’all had it. Or the enemy put a rock in the way at the last moment, like how when ya hit a rock on skateboards.

You don't really need a HOTAS per se, but you do need a stick with a two-stage trigger to more easily use the Hand Control Unit (RIO radar stick)

you need a higher bitrate... the quality is terrible
