Extremely worn and broken dresser restoration
This dresser was made around 1880-1900 and it was in rather bad condition.
In this video I will show how to deal with problems like missing pieces and cracked details.

I remain speechless. This opportunity to silently watch over the shoulder of a master is truly magnificent. The result speaks for itself. Bravo, maestro!

This maestro is worth his weight in GOLD.
That’s just stunning! I watch several restoration channels, and you’re the only one who would go to that much trouble to save as much as you can of the old wood. And I absolutely cannot tell the old from the new when you’re finished. Bravo!!❤️🤗🐝

Because people would rather see paint and gilt applied quickly than watch someone methodically RESTORE a decrepit piece of furniture!!
My late husband was a Carpenter, Joiner and Cabinet Maker and I loved nothing more than to watch him at work. Thank you for bringing joy back into my life.
Hard to believe that it is the same piece of furniture. You Sir are an artist with wood. To have those skills is such a gift.

It's better than new. Good video!😎
The range of skills required to accomplish this work is astounding, as is the experience to use them wisely. You are a true master.
This is what i like. A true restoration. Not just slapping some chalk paint on it and crowing, "Don't you just love it?" as another piece of mid century modern goes down. I do appreciate that some peopke have found a way to generate income, but it AIN'T RESTORATION!!!! KEEP SHOWING US HOW IT'S DONE!!😅😅😅
Now that's how miracles are performed. Taking something fit for the trash and making it beautiful again.
Another magnificent renovation. You have such knowledge and range of skills. I watch a number of furniture restauration channels and this is without doubt my favorite.

That's it, exactly. When I saw this piece, I wouldn't have thought it was worth restoring, I found nothing attractive about it. After Ahti finished - wow! It's exactly what I love, but didn't have the eye to see what could be done to restore it's original beauty.
There was hardly enough left of that dresser to call it a piece of furniture. But you found it and gave it new life. Masterful as always
Such a joy to watch a craftsman at work without a lot of dreadful background music, and yes. no talk-over either. Thanks so much.🤩
Fantastic…. My fave alert on KZread… an AT restoration, this has made my day having just dropped a tin of paint all over my kitchen.. I can’t wait to watch this restoration later…..After I’ve restored the kitchen 🤣🤣🤣
I must say sir, you are a master of your craft. I enjoy watching your videos and am constantly in awe of the work you do and how you make items most people would burn, look like new. I also like that you explain WHY you are doing certain steps and why things wore out. Please keep up the amazing work 👏
You are a man of unbelievable talents. That piece of furniture was destined for a burn pile but you rescued it and turned it into a museum work of art. Thanks for a great video.
This is insane. I'm watching you for the longest time but still amazed with your meticulous work.
This has to be one of my favourite restoration channels. As others have commented it is refreshing to see someone who saves as much of the original item as is possible. This is restoration in its true definition - the act or process of returning something to its earlier good condition or position.
I've watched quite a few of this guy's restoration projects, and I haven't seen ANYONE more skilled than him. This is a fabulous result displaying his great skills at his art, and he doesn't need any pet cats or dogs in his videos to creep into the affections of the pet-loving viewers. A very rewarding watch for me, and I don't know the difference between a screw and a nail.
Every step of this I was picturing my late father. “That’s exactly how Dad would have done it” I kept thinking. Watched him at his lathe and making dove tails for many years. Aside from his reg job working as the town carpenter for the council, he had a shop in our basement and our house always smelled of wood haha. He made 4 big chests for us, his daughters made of mahogany with cedar linings (not cheap where I live), my most treasured possession. You did an amazing job, anyone would be proud to have that in their home. Absolutely beautiful. TY ❤⭐️
Man, you are so good! I love watching true Craftsmanship. Your work is awesome.
I watched this one for the second time. It’s one of my favourites.
Now I know you just go measure, measure, chop, saw, saw, zip, zap, glue glue , nail nail and it’s done. All very elementary to you, but to me it’s magical to watch. Especially the dovetail joints. 😂 I’m a sucker for a hand made dovetail… thank you for a well made channel. I’m a fan 🪭 😊 oh! And lathe work, don’t forget lathe work, mesmerising… 😮
I love watching you do restorations. My favorite channel. Can't wait for the next video. Watching you is mesmerizing and relaxing. You are the greatest. 😊❤
Another fabulous repair and restoration! Love the grain, the work on the legs, and the final finish!
The colour of that wood once finished looks so deep and rich. Really beautiful. It really amazes me, the mindset of a woodworker/restorer. To the unskilled eye the furnature looks like trash for the bonfire but here we see, no, it is a valuable and beautiful comodity to be enjoyed for another several generations. For sure, id take this over brand new Ikea junk every day of the week.

here is a restoration in the pure art of respect and tradition of the profession. I would have no fear in providing my furniture to this person because with these videos the person, shows us that old things can actually have a second life and still give satisfaction. thank you and well done!
You fixed that disaster, Master! 😊 It's beautiful! 👍
Howdy from Houston, TX. I love watching a true carpenter work. You remind me of my father as he loved building, fixing & repairing anything, but especially wood. I miss the smell of fresh cut wood. My dad would take the sawdust, mix it with paraffin & make fire starters for my mom’s Girl Scout group when we went camping, which was often. Anyway, love seeing your work! You’re a master.
Once again, it was an amazing transformation! I swear, you could take a pile of firewood and make it into something beautiful. You are by far my favorite furniture channel!
My favorite restorer❤ I always wait to see your videos😊
That end product is sensational! Probably better than new.
You are the Fairy Godfather of broken antiques. You & your tools make magic and ugly becomes beautiful again. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with the world.
What a pleasure to see this worn out beauty restored to its elegant self. Thanks so much for bringing us along. Masterful restoration.
I have my grandmother's 1907 dresser which has wooden wheels, everything is handcrafted by wood. Your work is beautiful. God bless you
Once again I’m speechless. Your ability to save and restore as much as possible is beyond comprehension. Gorgeous!
Disaster -master , no better word for that... And i always love the - before - and - after -. One more Mission nearly impossible, very well done. Chapeau!!!
Once again, it's great to see you showing off your varied knowledge and skills to restore this well-worn piece of furniture. You worked hard and meticulously and the dresser turned out very beautiful. Congratulations master!
Thank you for allowing us to watch this amazing process over your shoulder without having to listen to anything other than your tools. So relaxing! You're a MASTER!
You are so fortunate to have a top and bottom corner detail to copy. I have my grandmother's 90-100 year-old dresser that has similar drawer construction and problems, so this will help me when I start work to refurbish it. This one is now my new favorite restoration. Masterful restoration, as always!
You are a true wonder worker, the results are beautiful, your work is the best I have seen anywhere.
Gorgeous! So nice to see that beautiful treasures are actually restored & refinished not painted all the time.
Just look at how beautiful this turned out!! It looks like it must have back in the late 1800s. I like to see when you do all the carving and turning, these videos are soothing, relaxing and interesting to me. You do such a nice job on all your pieces. Thank you! ❤
Greetings from Michigan, USA. You are truly a master craftsman, AT. I really enjoy watching your videos. Great job!
This is beyond great. I did not think it could be restored the way it is shown at the end. Fabulous!
Thank you for saving this very beautiful piece of furniture and giving it back its former dignity. Your craftsmanship is exceptionally good and admirable. Also worth mentioning is the great compilation and progression of your video 🙂
And now the dresser is smiling. Great work! It looks brand new and shiny.
One of your best 'afters' ever. Incredibly great job! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Holy crap that's a hell of a turn around. One shortcut I learned on French polishing is to just do a couple heavy brushed coats of shellac as a base to fill the grain, sand it back and then french polish. When I do it, I find the most time consuming part is always filling the grain, and a couple coats of a heavy 3 pound cut with sanding back is a colossal time saver!
I was watching how meticulous you restored this dresser. My father was a joiner/carpenter. He also restored furniture for his customers. I used to watch him work. This brought back memories. Thank you. You have a new subscriber 👏

Incredible restoration of a beautiful piece!! Always such a pleasure to watch a master at work!!😍😍😍❤️
Absolutely beautiful! Your videos are so enjoyable and relaxing.
Somehow about a month ago I ended up on this channel. My idea of woodworking is a hammer and some nails. I became fascinated watching you restore things. I binged watched all of your videos. Some twice. I am delighted to see that you have a new one. I absolutely love watching you restore these old 'useless' things into beautiful pieces. Keep up the good work and thanks for posting.
Unbelievable restoration!!!!!!! You are a master of restoration! Thanks so much for sharing
Absolutely beautiful work !
Another incredible furniture restoration! Still one of my very favorite channels to watch!💜
Your work is ALWAYS meticulous, never expedient, always stunning, always perfect. I can watch you do what you do and only admire your skill and imagination. I think if you had been one of the engineers for NASA, the Challenger would never have blown up and we would by now be seeing McDonald's and Bass Pro Shops franchises on Mars being advertised on TV. Thans again for letting us watch while you explain how you make magic! 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
Awesome job making old things new again...but still OLD!😎👍
A master class in wood working I am in Awe.. thank you it was a total Joy to watch well done
Your patience is unmatched. So incredible to watch. I appreciate your approach to restoration and sharing it with your audience. It’s perfection.
This may well be your best restoration yet. Incredible skill.
Once again, not my choice, but now a piece that almost anyone would be proud to have in their home, including me. There were many faults and plenty of evidence of poor quality manufacture. Always difficult to strike the balance between restoration and improvement. IMHO you got it 100% right on this piece. Learned a lot as well, so a genuine 'Thank you'. None-threatening Man-hug.
The care and patience you put into this is amazing, well done sir!!
What a stunning piece… and what a pleasure to watch you work! It’s difficult to tell which parts are replacements and which are original! You are truly a master of your craft!
One of the best restorations I have seen on video.Bravo.
If I hadn’t seen all the work you did on this piece, I would swear it’s a brand new item bought from a master craftsman……yesterday! You really have all the right gear to do this kind of thing from beginning to end, and perfectly! Wonderful attention to detail! I love seeing rotten old thing get “fixed properly”! Wonderful!🇦🇺
Never had any doubt you are a master at restoration and absolutely love your work ❤
Another amazing transformation. Hardo believe it's the same dresser. Great work!!!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing job, congrats, it came out so excellent !
Stunning work as always! I love how much effort you put into truly restoring a piece vs just chopping it up to rebuild from the good parts.
You are a true master at your craft, anybody would be honored to have one of your restorations. Beautiful doesnt even begin to describe your work 😊
You are without a doubt a master furniture restorer. Truly beautiful! Ken from Alabama USA
What a beautiful piece of furniture. Who knew that gorgeous wood grain on the drawers was under that awful finish. This chest of drawers will now live on for another century or two. Lovely job as always. Thank you for sharing. With best wishes from Down Under 😘💕🇦🇺.
You are a magician, Sir. I am truly watching a master’s hands. Awe-struck!😮😮
The matched walnut veneer on the front of the drawers is beautiful and the turnings really give it a tremendous regal look.
If you don't have tons of patience, you don't do this job! Amazing!!!
I am very impressed with your skills. Thank you for a very detailed video, and for the Polish Dad joke! 🇨🇦
OMGosh that’s beautiful. Thank you making these videos. Learned so much.
You are one very very talented person, loved watching this video. P.S love the no talking it helps me to concentrate on the work you are doing.
Just seeing that corner detail piece made my heart beat faster. Hey, 1 says it all... Replicating it would be the not so difficult goal at least you had one to reference. ;) Good find getting those extras. Wonderful craftsmanship. Thank you.
I am so pleased to see you do proper French Polish. I wish you could help me restore my Dad's childhood dresser. It will just have to live with all of the damage from over the years. Part of it's history.
You are the best restorer on youtube, oh to have a week in your company the things I could learn.
absolutely outstanding... who would've thought that beautiful wood was under that dust? Its stunning!!!!
Another dead piece of furniture resuscitated from the grave! You’re the best, Ahti!
I always find it amazing the way you match the new wood with old wood with the right shade of stain.👏👏👏👏

Yeah, I learned it in a hard way.
Say, I was wondering if you sign your work? You should. When you are finished, it is a work of art. Thank you for all I learn watching you.
Once again you have done a fabulous job of restoring an old piece of furniture
New legs with no worm holes. I like the way you glue down original veneer ! You’re most knowledgeable also. Years ago on a loading dock in L.A. I unloaded fiberglass matt next to a container from Brazil = full of veneer in 8” by 18 ft in length. 20 pcs per bundle, and 25 bundles per pallet . I remember thinking that’s a lot of furniture. Dad and I used to watch the Amish in N. Indiana at the county fair use a 4” wide knife remove a roll from a log 1/32 thick ….. then give the roll away to folks in the crowd.
YOU have a much envied skill. Thank you for restoring a past told through furniture.
I like the way you make birch look like wallnut. It's amazing perfect!
