This piece had veneer damage EVERYWHERE. I had to pull out three different veneer repair methods to tackle them all appropriately: 1) Replacing a part of the veneer with a new cut of veneer, 2) Patching the damage with wood epoxy then masking it using stain, and 3) Removing the veneer completely and just embracing the wood layer underneath.
But the most rewarding part of this restoration was figuring out how to get the light working again. The light fixture inside the middle door was missing the bulb, and the furniture being a retro piece from 1955, it used a type of bulb that is very difficult to find today. Unable to find a replacement bulb, I went and bought a new LED light bar. I then did some rewiring to enable the use of the existing push button that acts as an automatic activator for the light when the door is opened. Even though the circuit is a very simple one, I still felt like Tony Stark when I got it working.
If you enjoyed this restoration, please do me a favor and like the video! :)

When I went to purchase this dresser, I told them that I planned to restore it for my youtube channel, and for the first time ever, a seller was already subscribed to my channel! Very cool and odd feeling. They told me that the dresser belonged to their late grandmother, and asked me if I could dedicate the restoration to her. And so, this video is dedicated to June West.

This is my favorite restoration of yours ever !!! This is the most unusual piece I have seen on any channel. You took a sad, battered and broken dresser and made it regal again. For such a young man, your talent is on par with those who have been restoring furniture for 50+ years. You are so respectful of the original design and yet your added element to mask a serious repair was a measure of your skill and ingenuity. The back story of this piece gave your restoration as much depth and beauty as the stain you used. Bravo 👏

Superbly expressed if I may say so, Kim. *Regal* is precisely the right word for this charming *(Beautility?* Art Deco) cocktail cabinet - she is a debutante once more! The ASMR touches and your obvious editing skills are an added bonus. I think you did June proud... Bravo indeed. 🏆

A Cinderella story. This piece is breathtaking.
It was a pleasure to watch this. They don't make furniture like this anymore. Well done.
I’d caution you against wrapping electrical connections as you did. That creates hot spot due in part to how you connected the wires by bending and twisting it together and the wrapping it with electrical tape. Solder the connection, then apply a heat shrink over the splicing job.
@tinydancer7426
Жыл бұрын
I too was not content with the wiring. I couldn't put my finger on why, but the little guy on my shoulder kept nudging. I kept thinking "wire nut, wire nut" even thought there was not room enough in the casing. Heat shrink tubing! Yes!

Beautiful restoration, well worth it. This unique piece deserved to be restored. Pieces like this have long since stopped being made, that's why they should be preserved, for posterity. Well done!
This has got to be one of the most (if not the most) detailed and impressive restorations you've done. I am so glad you didn't paint over the casing and took the time to make the veneer patches a feature.
Its as if you restored a lost soul...so touching and historic!
This piece of furniture is a work of art now thanks to you. I'm so impressed with your craftsmanship.

Your transitions are TOP TIER, and that's coming from a cinematographer. I also wanted to say, I don't know how I've never come across your channel before. I say this because this is something I wanted to do as a hobby, and a side gig for extra cash. I searched youtube and google for any kind of group where people enjoy repurposing or restoring unique furniture. But I found nothing. Now years later I can enjoy watching a fellow restorer work magic on old forgotten "junk"!
This is such a beautiful piece! I was really intrigued by the way the center display worked, and I'm so glad you got it all to work and kept it intact! Such a simple, but interesting mechanic! Also, keeping the patina on the knobs was a stellar choice. And I'm really impressed by the veneer work you did on the sides. It all blends so seamlessly.

What a lovely restoration! The craftsmanship of these old cabinets is so unique!
This is the first time I've ever said this...I'm legitimately jealous!!!...what an awesome find...and a drop-dead gorgeous restoration!!! Stunning isn't a big enough word. BRAVO.
Beautiful. I just love old world furniture. Such a shame our modern homes are so small and dull to accommodate such beautiful pieces. 😢😍😍
When I first saw the cabinet I thought, "Wow, what a beautiful piece of furniture. And nice technology. Too bad the former beauty is lost forever”. I was so wrong! Thanks for sharing!!
I have watched this video several times. I have some very stressful things going on with a loved one and I find this video comforting. The end result is so beautiful it makes me cry. I know I sound like a loon. I feel like one actually. But I just wanted to share how bringing something back to such beauty can give someone hope.
Holy smokes! The piece was so unique and then you worked magic. June would be so honored.
I'm so happy this cabin got the love it deserves. It must've cost a fortune back when it was first purchased and you see the love that the maker put in. thank you for giving it even more love!
Absolutely beautiful and stunning!!!
I recognize that you don't need it but I am so proud of you. With the shape it was in, I thought there was a chance you would go modern. I had my fingers crossed. The full strip of veneer repair would not have occurred to me, I'm sorry to say. It's perfect. Please don't sell it. No one can appreciate where it came from more than you.
Absolutely beautiful. If that piece could talk. You heard me all the way through. I said, please, don't change this piece! I said, please don't paint it! I said, please don't change the hardware!! Please just restore! Thank you! And thank you to June West.
I am in awe of your “can do” attitude and amazing skill set. OMG the result is truly amazing. An old lady cabinet, care worn and neglected, restored to her former youthful beauty. Bravo!👏👏
All this talent... and no annoying so-called background "music"! Love this!

You young man did a cracking job on that piece of furniture. I used to go dumper diving for pieces like that, turned it into a hobby. It was a really good feeling at the end result.👍
Какой сложный, прекрасный бар-камод! Было бы жаль его потерять. Отличная работа) 👍
SO many things that I like about this and your channel! First off, this restoration was bloody PERFECTION! What a unique and beautiful piece! At first, before restoration, I almost thought the legs were from a different piece. But once you brought unique & stunning "dresser" back from the dead, it married the bottom perfectly! (Is that really a dresser? I almost feel like it's a drink stand. (Either way, it's a bloody fantastic piece that I would buy in a heartbeat!!)) Secondly, it's so refreshing to see someone so young actually restoring something to it's former glory, and not making it into some modern day Frankenstein item. (Yes some pieces do very well when modern colours & touches are added. But you have a keen eye as to what does & doesn't need to be altered. Bravo!)
This piece is stunning. It's wonderful to see someone who knows how to restore a piece of furniture correctly. In this day and time, most people want a quick fix, but nothing can replace craftsmanship, patients, and knowledge. You have a new fan!!! Great job!
Extraordinary piece of furniture. I've never seen anything like it. You did a fantastic job of restoring it to its full glory!
Another freakin' home run! Your woodworking skills are matched by your filmmaking choices -- both are excellent. Peaceful., restful filmmaking...and I mean this as a compliment: I'm going to go take a nap!
