I spent 30 years working in Northern Alberta, I've driven past the Mammoet laydown many times on my way to the sites north of the Bridge to Nowhere. Always a delight to work with Mammoet - so professional and great attitudes. Worked with their crew at Suncor Firebag in the mid-00's (2400 ton crane installing HRSG boiler bundles). Thanks for this 🙂

I'm impressed by the torque of those 2 diesel engines on the tractors.

I have a friend out west in Canada who is a mechanic that works on these monsters. “Euclid” is what there called.

I'm retired at 75: back in my day, we did it all out in the dirt: Two of the best generals I worked for, SJ Groves Sons and Company, McCoy Construction & sons and Company, McCoy is still at it. there Sons run it now. I loved the work; I liked the people I worked around, although some were over the top difficult to be around, Never the less, the work still got done.

Seeing those massive dump trucks on video doesn't do it justice, you have to stand next to it to really appreciate the size of that monster, amazing human engineering.

Dozers typically have them so they can periodically spin backwards to blow the dust out of the radiator

It really puts it into perspective just how gigantic those trucks are next to a tour bus which are already huge in their own right. The engineering needed to power one of those trucks and make it fairly "easy" to drive is mind boggling. And he's driving it one arm out the window 🤣

Both 114 and 115 truck were due for a over-hall at the same time. They were delivered back to the client within 24hrs of each other. I know this as I worked at this specific mine, having the opportunity to operate both of those haulers during a shift cycle. If I recall correctly, they each had approximately 76,000 hours(+/- 5000) on them prior to the rebuild. Everything was new when they went back in service, including all the cab amenities. Cat 797B. Still my favorite haul truck to operate.✌

Not even the second biggest, excavators 250-300 tonnes and upward are bigger than the 797. Shovels are bigger again, and draglines are the biggest mining machines outside the largest bucket wheel excavators. There are other dump trucks as big as the 797, but it is the largest mechanical drive truck on the planet

@@kenadams9725 For most of the jobs (Trade Job's), you have to have Red seal certificates. Its not a good time for oil sands in Canada. I am out of Fort McMurray since 2015.

As a Canadian who worked in this area it was a great experience to be in the oil sands. Hwy 63 was always a hair raising experience driving back to Edmonton. God bless the people that still work there

Great doco and full of information these machines are the workhorse of mining operations world around, and the price tag 6-7 million is nothing compared to what they make off them. Laughed at comment about drivers age as i have meet plenty guys younger in big machinery etc that i would trust rather than the older guys..age isn't always experience and vice versa

8 wheel axles? Ahem, 8 wheel axles on a 32 metre trailer? The 32 metre trailer has 352 tires? This I have not heard of before. This I have to see. I'm glad I stuck around long enough to grab my attention. Huge respect to the young guy who's in charge of steering this behemoth on it's journey. This is cool stuff. Edit: I'd happily do that for $5K a week. 12 hour days would not be a problem.

I've always been fascinated by these mega dump trucks since i was a kid. Even had couple of remote control dump trucks. It would be a dream to see, ride or drive one.

Was driving on the service road by a mine on the coast, came around a corner when one of these things pulled a U turn in the field next to me. Scared me half to death... Like, he had it, no danger but imagine seeing that in your peripheral vision 35 feet away... Cool as hell though. Had to pull over and smoke weed and watch for a while.

There is also a fire suppression system the operator can activate just in case the radiator catches fire while operating the mine truck. Emergency ladder included!

I was the lead hand electrician for the building of this crane bay and offices. Good times!

At 18:28 he says a 16 speed transmission it is actually an 18 speed transmission. five actual gears. there is a high and low range but only four of the gears are used in high range. So now you are up to nine speeds. each of these gears can be "split" giving you a total of 18 speeds. They forget to count low when counting the gears.

Loved the video! As a former first responder I can relate to clueless people getting in the way! I've been cut in front of many times when they blew though red lights. Your trying to deal with an accident on the side of the road and there's cones, flares, police cars with there lights on, and people still just drive through at highway speed like nothing is happening.

I am currently crying so hard right now. This is seriously the most beautiful, well put together story ever. I can’t believe how magical it was 0:03. That part truly made me shed a tear. And especially at 0:0 that part was just so truly heart touching words can not describe the series of emotions I felt. I absolutely loved the climax it had insanely excellent detail. Biggest machine in the mining industry, its not a dump truck, it would be a mass excavator, or a dragline etc.

Drove a Komatsu 830E AC for a minute here in rural Queensland, Australia. Lock out was 250ton - Coal and Dirt/Overburden. Ahhhuhhh. Most incredible monsters to drive. LOUD, and amazing!

Yeah these guys have very tight highway delivery windows. Most of the mines are accessible only by a two-lane highway. An extremely busy highway during shift changes.

I was driving along a road in North Yorkshire in the mid 1980`s when a Chieftain Tank drove across the road about 75 meters in front of me - smashing the road to bits ( and that was only about 50 tons or so ).

Mamoet's SPMT s are indeed majestic af. It's a sight to behold. Iam lucky to have seen one in skin

Building one for our bugout truck.... Just takin our house with us. May build 3 depending on how the first one turns out. As power lines or roads won't be a consideration in the upcoming apocalypse i determined this to be the only best truck.... We have begun the fueling process and should be ready by the time the truck is finished. Replacing the bed with living accommodations has been the main modification. 5,000sqft should do it. 4 families. Weapons systems next. Helicopter flight deck was the simplest consideration. And backup camera...

I worked at a mine where the Cat 793s were delivered in pieces and assembled on a mountain about 12,000 ft above sea level. The dump bed even came in 3 pieces and was welded together on site.

@@Lanse1984 Indonesia. It was the Grasberg Mine. I went there twice on 120 day work visas 30 years ago training and over seeing Indonesians doing network installation and turn up. We worked from the port site to dispatch at about at 13,000 feet above sea level.

I used to work for a company called Unit Rig in Tulsa, Ok. I helped build the 4400 mining truck for Boron, CA.(to mine Boron) and other companies around the world.

Heavy machinery plays a crucial role in infrastructure development, from moving construction materials to demolishing old structures.🎉😊

When loading they don't lower the platform, they raise the trailer! Spectecular stuff though!!!

despite the tireless work, they are the coolest guys with smiles and easy going. I love this

Hauled through Texas lots. Eather run through the big cities at night usually with police escorts to help shut the city down or go around. Coming out of Louisiana is mandatory police escort with a superload. Police escort is fun they shut down any intersections and you don't stop for any red lights! There are massive staging areas on both sides of Ft. Macmurray so superloads can wait till dark to run through the city. Unloaded a D11 cat today in Wyoming that came out of Sparwood BC. Snowstorm means I'll be visiting for a few days as our permits will be invalid till the snow gets cleaned up. (sorry if this doesn't interest you :)

That guy turning the traffic light pole had only one job. "ONE DAMN JOB" and couldn't do it in time!

I was 19 or 20 when I ended up operating one of these while working towards what I really wanted to do which was EMS and Emergency Communications. I'll tell you that's a beast of a machine, but I was to high strung to be in that truck all day. Truth is, I was never so bored in my life, lol. I mean you could tell the time of day by number of loads hauled, and that's no joke, lol. And so I did everything possible to show I was to valuable to be in it. Eventually I got into maintenance which I loved, and then the day came where I made it and got into what I really wanted to do.

One of our customers is mammoet I change their tyres...it takes 20min to pump up 1 tyre..with a big compressor

They do not need refills as often as the tractors and if one of those goes flat you can lift the single Axel off the ground
