Antonov An-225 - The World's Largest Aircraft | Full Documentary

Ғылым және технология

With the six powerful engines, loads of up to 250 tons are no problem for the Antonov An-225. The plane was originally intended to take the Soviet Buran space shuttle back from its landing site to the Baikonur spaceport in Kazakhstan. After the end of the space program, Antonov Airlines converted the An-225 into a cargo plane. The next order: the transport of twelve electrical transformers from Chile across the Andes to Bolivia with twelve flights in just four weeks.

New satellite images of Hostomel shows that the roof in front of the hangar is heavily damaged, but that the tail of the 225 is still intact. I am going to assume that the rest of the plane is heavily damaged, but by the looks of it it has not (yet) been burned to the ground as previously claimed. So who knows... Maybe there is still a chance it can be repaired despite that being completely uneconomical

And to think, they were once our BITTEREST ENEMIES...just look at them (and the rest of the Russian/Ukrainian people)...they just want to live their lives and enjoy themselves like the rest of us do. Thank God saner heads prevailed and war never broke out between us. The Russians and Ukrainians (and many of the other former Soviet people) are just wonderful people. Why the HELL our governments (the IMBECILES that they are) can't get along, STILL, is just beyond me.

My dad worked in airfreight when I was a kid and his company used this these planes to transport trucks and shipments of all other kinds to Ukraine. My brothers and I got to go out to the airport cargo area multiple times, get on the plane, learn about it from the pilots, one of my older brother got to drive a truck onto it one time. Watching it land and take off was so amazing. Great memories I’ll always have.

My friend says this plane usually lands at Bangor, ME airport to refuel. And once it landed at Portsmouth NH Pease airport, which has the longest runway in the States, as far as I know.

It's still a wonder to me how this thing even flys. I mean, I know how the physics of flight and engines work, but it still just seems so big and heavy that it shouldn't work.

Its 6 engines generate enough thrust that it flies like any other airplane using it's massive wings. To find out why this one flies, you have to understand the physics of aviation.
